Oh dear California ranch wedding, let me count the ways in which I love you. I love the flowers, with the just-picked-from-the-field feel, courtesy of The Green Vase. I love the custom drink, brewed by the groom for his bride with adoration and love. I love the stunning locale – Thacher Winery – with it’s big, beautiful barn, and the gorgeous hilly backdrop. I love the gorgeous bride and the handsome devil of a groom. I love every little detail that Touch of Style Events pulled together so perfectly, and that Mike Larson captured so brilliantly. I love that there is a gallery chock-full of more photos from this fabulous day.

I fell in love with Thacher Winery a couple of years before falling in love with Matt. I thought to myself, when visiting for some wine tasting, that I wanted to get married there if I ever found the right person. And when I met Matt, he mentioned that he knew the Thacher’s. I couldn’t believe it!
I was never one to dream of my wedding day but I found myself thinking about it and decided to pull out some pictures from magazines of things that inspired me hoping it too would help focus my energy on making it happen one day. When that “one day” eventually happened, I went back to the folder of ideas and pulled out a picture from Martha Stewart Weddings magazine. I realized that the bride in the picture had the exact same wedding dress on that I had just purchased and the wedding was in a barn! Crazy how dreams come true.
We wanted it to be an amazing celebration: good music, good food, good beer and good wine with our most favorite people! No fuss, just a great party. We were so fortunate to work with some of the best vendors you can get, most of whom were or have become great friends.

This is my favorite Barn wedding that's been posted in like, 2 years. I hate it when people do a barn reception but try to make it look overly sophisticated. This couple did such a good job of sticking to the ranch-ey theme but keeping it super pretty.
Gorgeous wedding! Where did you rent the natural linen table cloths?
Hi jnortz, I'm checking on the table cloths for you. I'll let you know what I hear!
@jnortz, Here is what Laura, the coordinator, had to say: "The Greenvase provided the natural color linens and the printed linens were from an antique store in San Luis Obispo. The Greenvase girls use to be Martha Stewarts florists and still do a lot of work with her."
That shot looking out from the barn is amazing! What a beautiful setting. I also really love the tables--the single stems in varying vases. It's such a simple and pretty idea.
I love the flowers in these pics!!!
LOVE the brightly coloured floral arrangements. So au-naturale and beautifully organic. Especially find the mason jar desserts adorable. And the band...oh all of these touches put together really makes for a fabulous wedding design. I'm in love!!

so beautiful! we just got engaged today,on thanksgiving day! thatcher is such a beautiful winery,we have been there only once, last year, fell in love with the beauty of the winery, and the staff was so nice! seeing your beautiful wedding photos, reminds me of why we would like our wedding there too!!! how was the weather in oct? are the grapes still in season?
Congratulations on your engagement Kim! Thacher Winery is gorgeous - here's to hoping the bride will pop in to answer your questions!
@Kim - Laura of Touch of Style Events was very helpful - here is what she had to say about California's Central Coast in October:
"October is actually one of the best months up on the Central Coast, it's perfect weather and the trees are bright orange and red. This is harvest season so the vines are to the fullest at this point. Harvest is when they start picking and processing the wine, so it is a beautiful time of year. During the day is perfect, but the night time does get on the chilly side."
Hope this helps!
thank you all so much for your replys. We live in orange county so just wondering how easy or difficult planning our wedding 4 hours away will be. I was wondering if they offered any other site at the winery to have the ceremony? what about table & chair rentals? again, all your info. helps. we will probably go to re-visit the winery in jan. Thank you!!!
Kim - I'll check with Laura of Touch of Style again and see what she has to say. I'll let you know!
Hey Kim! Here is what Laura had to say:
"I am actually located down in Orange County. We have an office up in San Luis and one down in Orange County. Most of our brides live out of the area. Central Coast is manly destination weddings, so it is not as hard as it seems. It really helps to have a planner that is familiar with the area. There is a couple of different locations at the winery for the ceremony. The property is defiantly a blank slate and they are very accommodating of what you are wanting out at the winery. They do not include any rentals at the winery, you have to bring everything in. Let me know if they have any other questions!"
