Alberta Wedding by Orange Girl Photographs
Get ready to smile from ear to ear, grin so hard your cheeks hurt and just feel all around giddy, because this wedding by Orange Girl Photographs is just delightful. I am SO in love with this fun-loving couple and their whimsical approach to wedding planning! I mean, anyone that incorporates a couch in the shape of big red lips into their wedding design is a good seed in my book. From the bride…My husband and I met on Lavalife and our first date was at The Calgary Stampede. He proposed to me on the top of Sulphur Mountain and his one request for the wedding was to get married in the mountains. We picked the Juniper as it has the best view of the mountains, with a great patio and rustic décor. Our planning and design started with a squirrel set that I bought after we got engaged. We incorporated the squirrels throughout the wedding. They were on the custom designed invites, the kissing booth, the floor decal and my custom wedding boots (a nod to our first date) from Alberta Boot Company. I did blog stalk Style Me Pretty constantly for any ideas we could incorporate and make our own.
We wanted to have three weddings in one day, each with a different feel to them. We wanted the ceremony to be relaxed and simple, the cocktail hour to be cute, fun and betty boop-esque, and the reception to be rustic and warm. We did this by incorporating key elements into each part of our day. We incorporated yarn balls, wood elements and kept the color theme through each part of the wedding. We hand crafted a lot of personal elements which brought everything together. I hand made all the wedding signs, ring pillow, cupcake favors and decor items for the “Jars of Fun” area.
We had a dream team of friends and vendors helping us make our dream a reality. Most notably my girlfriends Lisa Genest and Melisa Vandenberg, who were my go to girls on the day of the wedding, they put everything together and made sure our vision came to life. I will never forget the moment we saw the room all set up, it was so amazing seeing our vision come to life. I remember sitting with my husband at our sweetheart table, looking at each other….we were jsut in awe of all the love surrounding us that day, it was a beautiful day! My advice for future brides would be to know what is most important to you when it comes to your wedding, set goals and stick to them. Create a vision board that you can give to vendors and your bridal party. This will help them see your vision and make it a reality. Start DIY projects early on. The worst thing is adding projects to the stress and chaos of the last two weeks before your wedding. But most importantly have fun! This only happens once and take a deep breath and take it all in!

Amazing! It's so nice to see truly happy, in the moment photos! I think sometimes weddings can be quite serious and stages- it's so nice to see people just being happy and getting married! The colours are amazing too. LOVE IT!

Whoa! Adorable. I love their logo, that is one of my favorite ideas. I did a much more simplistic one for our wedding and it was a lot of fun. You can use it in so many things (clearly) and even after the wedding for an address stamp or something. This is all too cute. Love the painted cinder blocks too.

thank you everyone for the lovely comments!!! So happy our wedding is on Style me Pretty!!! My dad did make the kissing booth, I purchased the decals on Etsy. The keys i purchased at a store in Lethbridge, I will look and see if they still have the manufacter sticker on them. The flower girls dress is from a Canadian company...I will have to check the name of that one. K, in regards to the yarn balls, I used embroidery thread. It comes in a ton of colors! I used an air pocket, one that you use to ship things, to do the ring pillow.

It looks like you had a beautiful wedding - congratulations! I noticed you said you went with The Juniper, and I've been trying to narrow down a venue in Canmore (rather than Banff) as that town means a bit more to us - but I had a look on their website, and their prices/value for money are pretty fantastic compared to what I've been finding. Were you happy with it as a venue choice in terms of service, food, staff?

Mary, you really cant get a better view than the Juniper for the amount you will pay. The food was amazing, I didnt hear one person complain at all, some said it was the best "wedding" food they have ever had. The service staff was friendly and accomodating. We rented the penthouse for the girls and I to stay in the night before and get ready in, it was so nice to have a kitchen and patio to look over, plus the photographer got some cool shots from the roof :) If you have any more questions i would be happy to answer them for you. Hey there! I love this wedding. And the pictures are fabulous. Would someone (or Katrina) be able to tell me if the "cake in a jar" was DIY or if they had someone do it? If so, who and how many did they make??
