From the Bride…Steve and I met at the airport terminal in Chicago Midway while both waiting to catch flights back to Los Angeles. I had flown stand-by that day and had been bumped from several flights, so I was passing my time by people watching. I noticed a cute guy and somehow mustered up the courage to sit next to him and strike up a conversation. Time flew by as we chatted, realizing that ironically we both lived and worked in the same neighborhood in Los Angeles. I remember thinking how sincerely nice he was. Before we had to begin boarding the plane, Steve asked for my number. He called me and asked me out to dinner and we’ve been inseparable ever since.
When we first started planning, we knew we wanted to do a beach wedding as it has been a central part of our relationship. We’ve shared so many happy evenings at the beach walking our dog and enjoying the sunset. We contemplated a destination wedding but realized that there are so many gorgeous beaches right here in Los Angeles; the same place that we know and love as home. We also knew that we wanted our wedding to be both casual and intimate. We were thrilled when we found Sunset Restaurant. It is located on gorgeous Zuma Beach in Malibu, the food is delicious, and the venue has a charming Cape Cod feel that is rare in Southern California. We knew immediately that this was the location for us.
One of the aspects of the venue itself that appealed to me is the nautical flair in its decor. I liked the classic theme so much that I decided to use it for our wedding decorations as well. The navy color lends itself to the nautical theme, plus I have always loved blues. We decided rather than using solid navy, that we would introduce various navy and white patterns into the decorations. For the flowers I wanted a color that was both fun and unique, but would also compliment the navy. Our wedding coordinator suggested shades of peach and coral, and I loved the idea.
I was really surprised how emotional the actual ceremony was. I have always been very close to my Dad, so walking down the aisle with him and looking up to see Steve, the love of my life, smiling at me as I walk toward him was such a joyous moment. I will never forget it. I felt truly blessed that day to have the people we love around us to share such a special occasion in our lives.

Thanks so much for featuring our special day! I was constantly checking out SMP for ideas when planning. I really love the blog. LA brides... this group of wedding professionals is simply the best. They have worked together in the past, really mesh well, and bring out the best in each other. They are all amazingly creative and talented. And to top it off, they are all sincerely sweet people too. Thanks to each of these amazing individuals, our wedding was everything we had ever dreamed of and more!
These colors are to die for! And I loved the bridesmaid with navy nails - SO fun!
Wow, I love her dress so much!

Nina, where did you get your striped table runners from? I've been looking all over for bold striped fabric like that! Thanks in advance. Your wedding was absolutely stunning!
Hi Victoria,
Thanks for the compliment! We actually ordered the striped fabric online:

Hope that helps!
Nina
Victoria... I believe the link I sent you might be out of stock, so here is another option: http://warehousefabricsinc.com/CAYNAE.html
Do I love Shannon Lee? I do, I do, I do. Wish I was still in California so we could work together again.
So many great ideas- what am inspiration! Thx for sharing!
beautiful choice of colors! Beautiful wedding and insane backdrop of ombre clothespins - really? Too adorable!
Oh my gosh, I am in love with your "Kick of your shoes and grab a pair" sign! Is that blue chalkboard or is it painted blue? It looks similar to your "Sparkler" sign as well but that looks a bit like the blue background might be paint? Dying to know where you got that or if you made it and what materials you may have used. LOVE the nautical rope detail on your cake as well! So far out of ALLLLLL the weddings I've seen on SMP, this was my favorite to date. Congrats to you both!
Hi Tajana.... Thanks so much!!!! Yep, we used chalkboards for the signs. It's painted w/ navy chalkboard paint.
Some of the neatest wedding pictures I've seen!
Clean, Classy, Beautiful! Really love this one! xoxox
This is completely gorgeous...I love how the theme is nautical, but a completely fresh take on it! Navy and peach are stunning together, and I've never seen a wedding in those colors, as far as I can remember! Amazing work to all involved, and congratulations to the adorable couple! :) xoxo
Thank you, thank you!!! You're so sweet to provide both links. :)
Can you tell me what the style name of the bridal gown is? I just adore it!
sure... the style is Madeline
Love the color combo and the framed table numbers :)
i LOVE that clothespin dessert backdrop! how cool!
I'm so honored that I got to be a part of this special day! It was a joy to do the Makeup & Hair and work with all these amazingly talented wedding vendors. Thanks for featuring this stunning wedding Style Me Pretty!
Nina,
Where did you get your table numbers? I LOVE THEM!
The table numbers were picture frames with fabric inside of them. The actual numbers were painted and glued to the fabric... but I don't recall where we found the numbers. Katy Carrier (the planner) designed the table numbers, so she may have the info.
