A DIY affair should not be as chic, gorgeous, creative, and glam as the ones you talented couples send us. You amaze me with your fabulosity. Weddings like this Kentucky wedding have taken Do-It-Yourself weddings to an entirely new level, and I capital LOVE it. From the fan-tastic programs, to the mason jar centerpieces, to that delish cake from Martine’s Pastries, the whole affair is phenom. My wedding day was absolutely everything I could have ever wanted it to be. My fiancé and I had to live six hours away from each other during our engagement because of his job and my schooling, so it was a long a difficult planning process but came out perfectly! I am a Southern California girl and he is an Illinois farm boy, so we wanted to bring together our personalities and our different lives into one for our special day. I wanted it to be comfortable, fresh, and fun! I found a lot of the ideas of blogs, but some of them just evolved through brainstorming together.
We met in Kentucky so we decided to have our wedding at a local winery in Lexington, Talon Winery. It was a gorgeous setting the required minimal decorating. We were definitely on a budget and my mom, sister, and I did most of our decorations. Mason jars and fireflies are two things I love about living in the south. I knew even before we were engaged I wanted our colors to be green, my favorite color, and blue, his favorite color. Also, I knew I wanted light, fresh flowers and to decorate with mason jars. I really wanted to utilize the beautiful space that we had. I loved adding unique touches like a birdcage for letters, or a wooden cake stand.
We chose to do fans for the ceremony because we knew it would be hot! So my mom created templates to make them ourselves. We used shepherd’s hooks to hold our flower arrangements and used burlap and white drapery to decorate the gazebo. I loved using the barn next to the ceremony site for the reception. It had perfect lighting and just felt right. We made our own photo booth, had a remembrance table for family members who had passed away, gorgeous food by DaRae & Friends, and a gorgeous cake table. We love the kids we have in our lives and so we wanted to make sure we had a kid’s table for them to play at during the reception. For the send-off, we tied ribbons in our wedding colors to wands for everyone to wave since we couldn’t use sparklers. It ended the perfect day.

I absolutely adore this wedding, I have followed wedding blogs for the last 5 years and this has to be in my ultimate top 10 reader posts of all time! Well done it looked like a fabulous affair!!! :)
I love your cake stand and location. Very beautiful.
Love the cake stand! Where might I find it? :)
Hi Chelsea, Lulu, Laura, and Ashley! I'm looking into all the extra details for you all, and I'll let you know as soon as I hear!
Hi girls! Lindsay (the bride) had this to say:
"Sorry I haven't responded!
Ashley- The ties are from bows-n-ties.com.They have a huge selection and are cheaper than going to Macy's
Laura- The bridesmaids dresses are actually from Nordstrom. I originally wanted green, but couldn't find any in the style I wanted, shade of green I wanted, and in the price range. One of my girls came across these gorgeous dresses and I was so happy with them!
Lulu- The cake stand is actually from Hobby Lobby and I will have to get the website link to the wooden slab. They pick exactly the size and shape you want!
Kelatron- THANK YOU SO MUCH! I love hearing other people loved our wedding as much as we did!
Hope this helps! If you have any other questions let me know! I'll get better at responding!"
Where did you get your burlap runners? Your wedding was gorgeous!!!!
Hi Rachel O! We're checking on the runners with Lindsay for you. I'll let you know what I hear!
We actually bought the burlap cheap online and cut them into runners. Let me check and see where we got it from!
And I will find out where the rest of the cake stand came from!
Wow!! My fav is most DEF the flowers! I love how they tie everything in so beautifully! LOVE LOVE LOVE the flowers!!!
What a beautiful wedding! I especially loved how the flowers brought everything together -- the colors were gorgeous! Kudos to the floral designer!
Your wedding belongs in a magazine! Perfect! I have to agree that the flowers are beautiful! They were classic and unique! They tied everything together perfectly.
WOW!! The wedding photos were great but I was especially impressed with the flowers. The floral designer was very creative and imagative. I liked the choice of colors, flowers and design.
Beautiful wedding!! Where did the shoes come from? They were so cute!!
The shoes were from DSW. I think they were "kelly & katie."
And our florist was amazing! Jeanie Gorrel is awesome!
Love the bridesmaid dresses!
I'm planning my wedding and I really want a photo booth for the reception but they seem really expensive. How did you create your own?
Hi Jennifer! There are SO many fantastic ideas for photo booths on a budget. It can be so chic (and inexpensive) to hang a pretty fabric, wall paper, DIY design in front of a camera set up on a tripod (and of course equipped with either a photographer or even just a remote control).
Make sure to add some awesome props as well! Old hats, chalk board signs, and masks all make fantastic props.
Check out some of our favorite photo booths here: http://www.stylemepretty.com/gallery/tag/photo-booth
Jennifer-
Our photographer actually had the pipes put together so I just went to Hobby Lobby and picked out fabric that I wanted and my aun sewed it so that there was room for the piping. We used an old polaroid camera to take pictures to give a fun feeling. Its really nice to walk into my friend's houses and see them on display.
Hope that helps!
Lindsay
I absolutely love your flower girl dresses! Do you mind letting me know where you got them? Thanks so much!
Hi Meredith! Let me check with Lindsay on the flower girl dresses. Hang tight!
I found our flower girl dresses on pinkprincess.com. They are relatively inexpensive compared to most flower girl dresses.
Here is the link to the actual dress.
