From the Bride…My family moved to a small town outside of Chattanooga, TN shortly after Brandon and I started dating.  And, as fate would have it, Brandon was starting nursing school in TN at the very same time! Throughout the past 6 years, Brandon and I shared many special memories on my family’s farm. Whether it was sitting on “our little roof” watching the sunset, skipping rocks in the pond behind what would someday be our ceremony site, or learning how to dirtbike in the very field in which we got married, memories of special times were everywhere to be found. So, in our minds and hearts, we knew that picking a location for the wedding would be simple. Not only did it fit our desire of having a rustic yet elegant wedding, but it was home. And, as the very true saying goes…”there is no place like home!”  Our desire was that our guests would enjoy the serene surroundings while feeling relaxed, comfortable, and most importantly “at home.”

When it comes to decor, I have always been attracted to the “shabby chic” style, incorporating the elegance of crystal chandeliers, vintage china, and crisp white linens with burlap, hay, and rustic galvanized decor. What better location to put our vision into action than in our very own barn. With the added expertise of our family friend and professional designer, Jodi Brewer, our farm was transformed into a southern wedding dream. Jodi has been an interior designer for many years. Her vast talent combined with creative ideas made for unique and beautiful decor.

Like many weddings, ours wasn’t without a tiny bit of drama. Just two months before our wedding, the Southeast was devastated with major tornadoes…many of which came within just a couple miles from our home. Homes were destroyed and some people even lost their lives. While our farm suffered from the loss of several trees and broken fences, we were truly spared from the brunt of storm. I have friends who lost everything. Going through this experience while planning a wedding allowed me to place everything in perspective.  I learned that more than anything, my God, my family, and my friends are something I could never do without. With such tremendous help from all of these people, we were able to get our farm back in shape in just a few short months. July 3rd is a day that will forever hold a special place in our hearts. It is a day of cherished details, of family and friends, of the comforts of home, and most importantly of the love Brandon and I will forever share.

Katelyn, my bouquet had David Austin Roses (Juliet), White Peonies, Dusty Miller, Queen Anne's Lace, and white veronica.

  31. enrobbin says:

My favorite wedding I have seen so far on here. OBSESSED!! Where did you find those chandeliers????

  32. Melissa says:

We were actually able to get most of the chandeliers (for FREE!) from a business and home that were remodeling...thanks to our friend, Jodi! They were old brass chandeliers that were transformed with ivory paint and dangling crystals. Made for perfecting lighting in the barn! The chandelier hanging from the ceremony tree was the only one we had to purchase. We found it at the Southeastern Salvage for a very reasonable price, and again, enhanced it with paint and crystals! Worked out perfectly. Thanks again for your great comments!

  33. Jen says:

Such a beautiful wedding! you did such a wonderful job! Where is your dress from & what is the colour of the bridesmaids dresses? Amazing!

  34. Melissa says:

Thank you!! My dress is from 2 Be Couture, and the bridesmaid dress color is called light coral, from Ann Taylor!

  35. Danielle Riley says:

This is probably the craziest question, but... Would your girls consider selling their dresses??

  36. Jennifer says:

unfortunately i cant seem to find those dresses.....and i cant find ANYWHERE that has that colour...i want it so bad! haha

  37. Mahea Dodd says:

This was so beautiful. I am sorry we were not able to make your wedding. Seeing it here, I know we missed something spectacular and special. I love the sparklers, what a great idea! You are a beautiful bride. My son has gorgeous cousins. We still have your graduation picture in a frame. May you both continue to be blessed and happy together.

  38. sean says:

What a great wedding, congrats. I was wondering Melissa if you could tell me about the groom's and groomsmen's suits. Were they purchased? Rented? Really, where can I get them! Thanks in advance, Sean.

  39. Catie says:

Quick question for the bride: I tried looking around for your dress, but I wasn't able to find it anywhere. Could you tell me the style number or some sort of more detailed information? I am absolutely in love with the dress, and I am dying to find it! Thanks in advance!

  40. Melissa says:

Your questions and comments are great, thank you all!! @ Sean, the guys suits were all purchased from Express. I just checked their website, and it looks like they are currently unavailable. But If you have time to wait, they more than likely will come out with the same suit or something similar in the spring! Hope that helps you. It was a great suit, light weight and comfortable. @ Catie, I actually don't recall the name/style number, but I will look into seeing what I can find out for you! Thank you so much!

  41. Sueann says:

would your family consider renting out the farm grounds? I love, love, love this wedding....

  42. Hi Melissa, I am a vendor at The Clay Pot. I LOVED how you used one of my original design " Love "burlap pillows. Your wedding picutures are so beautiful!!! It is so neat to see one of my designs in your wedding photos. Congrats! Autumn (La La Design)

  43. Meg says:

I am desperately trying to locate this dress from the McDonald wedding. If anyone knows the beautiful bride who wore this gown please let me know, I know it's a 2B Couture but can't seem to locate it. Thank you

  44. slucchesi says:

@Meg 2Be Bride may have more information about this dress for you. Here is the website link http://2bebride.com/

  45. Meg says:

@Slucchesi - Thank you. I emailed them already; no reply.

  46. Melissa says:

Hi Meg! This is the bride! :) Sorry for the delayed response! I just called the boutique where I purchased my dress from to track down the style number. It is a 2Be gown by Kathy Ireland. The Style number is E231025. I bought my wedding dress from Ever After Bridal in Cleveland, TN. Kendra, the owner is incredible to work with! She is the one that I just spoke with on the phone and she told me to have you call her and she could help you track one down! :) Ever After's number is (423) 478-5493. Hope this helps you!

  47. Melissa says:

Also, just so you know.. I added a sweetheart neckline to the design! :)

  48. jessicam says:

Love the flower girls dresses!! I've been researching to find them and found the Joan Calabrese dresses, but the ones I found look slightly different. Do you know if they were style number 110306??
