Wilmington Wedding by Theo Milo Photography

This next wedding is the perfect mix of casual elegance and whimsy and I love that the bride designed and crafted all the elements for the big day. I’m totally digging the juxtaposition of the brick walls with the rustic displays of wheat and eucalyptus in simple, tin watering cans. Theo Milo Photography was on hand to capture all the details including the super cute pinwheels and paper bag covered books. How adorable are they? Click here for even more.

From the bride…As Brian and I began to plan our wedding we quickly became overwhelmed by all of the different options for places to get married…Brooklyn, Delaware, Philadelphia, DC, Virginia.  However, as soon as we shifted our attention to downtown Wilmington, NC everything fell into place with so much ease.  Each vendor had a recommendation for another great vendor and within a month we had everything lined up!  Since most of our guests traveled from the north it was really important to us that our guests got the chance to experience the charm of an old southern city.  Thus, we planned all of the events downtown and with in walking distance of each other. Having all of the vendors fall into place so easily allowed me to concentrate on what I love- designing and crafting!  Weddings can feel very formal, but Brian and I are such a casual couple that I wanted to create an event that was both lighthearted and whimsical.  Thus the creation of pinwheels, embroidery hoop collages, a candy bar, and simple floral arrangements.  I really loved putting a personal touch on almost every element of the design! On the day of the wedding I could not wait to see Brian, which was surprising to me because I thought that I would be calm and collected.  On the way down the aisle I was holding back tears but as soon as I got to Brian and he took my hand I was immediately at ease.  My aunt preformed the ceremony and told me at the reception that she and Brian couldn’t see me as I walked down the aisle because everyone had stood up.  However, she explained that as soon as I turned the corner and came into view Brian gasped- what more could a bride ask for! The most special element of this day for Brian and I was the feeling that we were surrounded by unconditional love and support from our friends and our family.  Since we had a “destination” wedding the guests that came showed up ready to shower us with love and have a good time, which is all we could have asked for!

Such a lovely wedding and a beautiful couple! I am also having purple in my wedding and I have been trying to find a way to introduce pops of purple without having it be overwhelming. This gives me some great ideas!

I am wondering if you can tell me where you got the round placemat type things you used underneth some of the flowers? Thanks!

  2. NC is lovely. I dig the pictures too! I was at a wedding this past week with purple and green, and it looked great. They alsohad good uplighting.

Gorgeous wedding. This colour combination's up there with my favourites. Love the shot of the couple walking along the street, we don't have trees like that in England. :(

I just love the use of the embroidery hoop collage of fabrics! I know those fabrics - Laura Ashley! They are absolutely stunning and fit perfectly with the greens and purples of the wedding without being overwhelming! The bride did an amazing job!

I love this wedding! Kudos to the bride for her excellent design skills. I especially liked the use of embroidery hoops with fabric for color. Could you tell me how they were hung? Thanks!
