Ontario Inspiration Shoot by Hazlitt Vintage Rentals + Alex Albojer

August 24th. 2011 by Erin | Filed Under | 19 comments

Upon first glance, I thought for sure this was an adorable wedding sent our way. No, no scratch that – it’s just an out of control gorgeous photo shoot but unlike any photo shoot I’ve ever come across. Hazlitt Vintage Rentals teamed up with photographer Alex Albojer and Sweet Beginnings Wedding & Event Planners to craft a series of lovely vignettes that follow a couple from engagement to I Do, and each one is holding so many fun details, you might just want to incorporate them all in your upcoming nuptials. Seriously, from your engagement shoot right on through to your wedding day, this shoot has you covered. And just wait until you see the lovely spread of desserts and cake crafted by Truffle. It’s a virtuoso of confectionery treats. Be sure to stop by the gallery for a whole lot more!

From Hazlitt Vintage RentalsThis whimsical inspiration shoot took place in the countryside along the shores of Lake Huron in southern Ontario. Magnificent trees in the tucked-away location offered the ideal peaceful setting.  We simply approached a couple of neighbors who we considered to have beautiful properties.  They were more than willing to let us use the properties free of charge.   To keep the pictures dreamy, we wove threads of soft color throughout each scene.   The shoot commences with the couple pond side for their engagement.  Casual and fun, they paddle around the pond discussing their dream wedding.  Next we find the couple riding on their tandem bike.  They stumble upon a road-side flower stand put together featuring in-season flowers displayed in a collection of vintage tins and canning jars.  They peruse cornflowers, snowballs, peonies and more while trying to decide on what would make the perfect bridal bouquet.  Replicating the stand is straight-forward, you can pick garden flowers or buy stems at your local florist, insert into whatever pretty containers you have collected and set-up on a table.  Add a little sign and invite guests to make a bouquet to take home.

One of the tastiest tasks on the wedding to-do list is meeting with your caterer and cake artists.  We thought it would be fun to include an adorable kitchenette setting that featured a few props from grandma’s kitchen.  Wooden spoons, vintage bowls and more beautiful seasonal flowers set the scene for the couple to come and enjoy some lighter moments together.  They tasted the sweets at a pretty table adorned with lace, garden peonies in canning jars and vintage dishes.   If only all taste testing outings where so stylized but it is fun to dream! Our bride and groom looked stunning in an ever-changing vintage wardrobe from Cabaret Vintage and jewelry that ran from contemporary to vintage.  We over-indulged our dessert table by adding some sparkle to the mini-cakes too. The dessert table is taken from ordinary to extraordinary by working in re-purposed vintage drawers, flowers, DIY whimsical pinwheels and sweet calligraphy brown paper bags and tags.   Take a drawer and turn it upside down, line it with pretty paper and you will have an inexpensive, unique display.  Classic desserts of whoopee pies, meringues, apple pie and oatmeal cookies are scaled-down to be more playful and easier for guests to fill a bag of goodies.  The flowers that adorned the grand cake were home-made from up-cycled pages of a book.   The vintage pages were carried over the drawers to act as liners for the display of mini-treats.The shoot ended with the couple at the pond to enjoy the sunset and a return to the gravel road where their journey started.
