Whenever I see a wedding from Amy Nichols Special Events pop up on my screen, I just know I’m in for a pretty afternoon. She has such a way with crafting the loveliest affairs. And her styling combined with the lovely backdrop of Holman Ranch and the images captured by Alisha + Brook Photographers are enough to send me into a fit of swooning. All in a days work I guess. From Amy Nichols Special Events…Shiva and Brett fell in love with Holman Ranch in Carmel Valley from a far, having seen a wedding from one of my clients that took place there last fall. They planned the wedding in less than six months and from nearly 3,000 miles away since they live in New York City. Shiva is by far one of the most talented people I’ve ever met in my entire life. She is a fabric designer for many of the couture fashion houses in New York. In addition, she’s an incredibly talented artist – whatever the medium. She designed her save the dates and her entire stationery portfolio, which was complemented by Love Jenna’s gorgeous calligraphy.
We had a fantastic team of vendors, including the amazing Alisha + Brook photographing the event, and Gina from Lola Video documenting the day on Super 8. A Taste of Elegance prepared the plated dinner and blew everyone away with the food during the cocktail hour — the lollipop garden and artichoke bar were big crowd pleasers. Flower Affairs, a family friend of the bride’s did the floral design.
The day started with a traditional Persian ceremony, followed by a traditional Western ceremony. A highlight had to be the butterflies which were released at the end of the ceremony, a surprise from the bride’s brother & sister-in-law. Another highlight of the weekend was the Klezemer Band, the Petrojvic Blasting Company from Los Angeles which were a HUGE hit. They were so talented and played fun and festive music. I cannot wait to have an occasion to use them again.
After dinner, dancing took place in Holman’s beautiful barn, and later in the evening, the dessert lounge in the Rose Patio opened complete with a bon-bon girl, passed desserts and a white chocolate mousse cake from Fleur de Cocoa. Platinum Status ended the evening with a mellow acoustic set as guests enjoyed coffee and delicious sweet treats.
