Inspiration to Reality: Lake Tahoe Wedding Inspiration from Merrily Wed

When an all star team of LBB vendors comes together in one of our favorite wedding locales – Lake Tahoe – the butterflies in my stomach start doing somersaults. And when they are taking inspiration straight from one of our very own reader’s Inspiration Boards, the butterflies start doing cartwheels. Marie Frahm created a fantastic board entitled Rapunzel, and Merrily Wed was completely inspired. Before we get into the reality, lets take a little peek at the gorgeous inspiration.

Rapunzel

As if this reality wouldn’t have been perfect enough as interpreted by Merrily, she brought in FAB florals from Bellissima Flowers, beautiful linens from Wildflower Linen, and custom stationery from Angela Dal Bon to make sure it completely exceeded perfection. Seen through the lens of annie X photographie, we’ve got so much fantastic wedding inspiration coming your way. When you’re ready, I’ll be waiting in the full image gallery – with. even. more.

From Merrily Wed … Bold yet intricate, sophisticated yet understated along with the stunning colors of steel blue, blue-greens, violet, black, white and pewter, inspired our mystical, glamorous, romantic fairytale wedding.  The dramatic spiraling staircase with its intricate floral scroll ironwork was one of our key muses.  Not to mention crystal embellishments, white feathers, succulents, pewter highlights – these elements were woven through-out the many, many details of the day… captured beautifully by annie X photographie. The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe provided the ideal backdrop, indoors and out.

We worked with Angela Dal Bon on the invitations and came up with a delicate floral detail, inspired by the staircase, to add a sophisticated touch.  For added impact and depth, we made it a pewter ‘cut-out’ to layer on the invitation.  This was also carried over to the dinner menu where the scroll cut-out allowed the luminous dining napkin to peep through.

We wanted to keep the ceremony mysterious, dramatic and brooding.  Black chiavaris with flowing, ruffled black organza draped the chair backs.  The giant stone slab mantle was an easy choice for a natural, bold setting to frame the altar area.  By only using white in the aisle petals and in the altar pieces, this color really popped, adding to the dramatic feel.  Succulents, dripping crystals and white orchids added more detail to the aisle décor.  Trailing eucalyptus, white feathers, white orchids and hydrangeas framed the pillar filled altar area.

Wildflower Linen provided the rich color foundation for our tablescape.  The blue, green and lavender fabric curly willows graced the silver chiavari chair backs and the table corners maintained the flowing, draping look for the dinner hour.  The intricate pewter lace overlay brought a very romantic yet bold look to the table.

The exquisite flowers by Bellissima Floral touched the right note of accent where it was needed.  To emulate the spiral staircase, we had a trio of descending height centerpieces – each one a masterpiece on its own.  Succulents were sporadically introduced and the beautiful blue-green of this plant nestled in silver mercury votives was breathtaking as the escort card holder at the top of each guest’s place setting.  More blooms, violet pillars filled the dining table…

The wedding cake by D’Lish Catering also downplayed white in only key spots and the blue icing mimicked the stylish smoky grey-blue used through-out.  The pewter floral scroll detail resurfaces here as well as it embellishes the beautiful cake.  Mirrored table tops created a tantalizing visual display on the cocktail tables and in the lounge reflecting the pieces of art above them.

I love this wedding! I actually got married at Lake Tahoe last year at a house on the lake and we used the hotel featured in this post for our honeymoon! Great place. Our wedding was pink and gold though. Interesting to see a different take.

What a gorgeous colour theme, who would have thought that blue could look so warm and inviting, its usually a 'cold' colour. Loved the stationery ideas too. The cake was gorgeous, a very eye catching shade of blue.
