After looking at these photos by Angela and Evan Photography, it’s hard to imagine that this gorgeous bohemian inspired tea party was shot in the freezing cold April temperatures of Washington state. Everything about this screams warmth and sun and I’m especially dying over the gorgeous blooms that were incorporated throughout the photo shoot by Finch + Thistle Event Design. The combo of anemones, poppies, ranunculus, is so fresh and ah-mazing! See even more here.

From Angela and Evan Photography + Finch & Thistle Event Design…It’s been a long, cold winter in the Pacific Northwest and I was dying to summon Spring and embrace color when we started planning for this inspiration shoot. Using pastel pinks, peach, yellow and lilac, I put together a design board inspired by a boho chic tea party and assembled a talented team. We shot outside at the Wine and Roses estate in Auburn, WA on a freezing cold Saturday in April with our lovely model Chelsea braving the chill for several hours without complaint!
We set up a cake table in the barn and a picnic area outside in the fields where Melanie Hansen’s custom Plum Cushions added both gorgeous color and cushioning for our lounging couple. I used a collection of Wileman Shelley teacups, English tea tins and vintage dress embellishments in the table décor and loved how the antique pink and gold table runner mimicked the pink fondant ribbon and gold medallions on the red velvet cake designed by Baked. Books of antique fairy tales gave the centerpieces height and contributed to the English feel.
I wanted the flowers to look like they fell out of a renaissance still life, but also retain a “just picked” air so I used a black amethyst glass urn and primarily pastel colored anemones, poppies, ranunculus, hellebore and camellias with pops of bright orange and pink for contrast. I was lucky to find some jasmine vine at the markets and used brasilia for some cheerful color and texture in both the bridal bouquet and the centerpiece.
Designer Iwona Konarski created a fabulous round menu card designed to fit on each plate along with table signs and invitations in a pink ombre effect with a gorgeous floral vine pattern. The ombre was also picked up in the purple skirt of Chelsea’s beautiful one-shouldered Wai-Ching gown that she accented in a modern fashion with several diamond necklaces layered for effect.
