We adore weddings a la France but we have never seen a French wedding done quite like this. The bridesmaids in their sweet little striped dresses are just about the cutest trio I have ever seen walk an aisle. I can’t imagine a more glorious way to spend the morning of my wedding than in this gorgeous chateau in Normandy. How romantic is that setting? From the Bride…We can’t remember making the decision to have our wedding in France, it was something that came so naturally after our engagement. Nick, the groom, is Australian and French and beautiful Normandy (where his family originated) held a special place in our hearts. Planning a French wedding from Australia certainly had its challenges however, through the internet and reading beautiful blogs like Style me Pretty we were able to create the most amazing day exceeding all of our expectations!
We knew from the beginning that we wanted to have a subtle nautical theme with a crisp navy and white colour scheme to fit with the character of the Calvados region. Navy and white was used throughout all elements of the day and was accented by green apples at the reception used as place cards. We were also so lucky that our friends and family from all over Australia, London, Italy and France travelled to be with us on the day. We all spent a week together before the wedding in the beautiful Chateau du Mont which was a great chance for everyone to get to know one another and build lasting friendships. That experience alone I am sure is one we will remember for the rest of our lives.
Saturday the 7th of May was the most incredible spring day and unseasonably warm in Normandy! One of the highlights of the day was travelling to the church in Honfleur, there were so many people cheering and beeping their horns on the way and when I arrived their was a huge crowd of people outside the church. The whole experience was one we will hold fondly in our hearts for the rest of our lives.
