Close your door, send your phone calls to voicemail, and log out of your email. Why? Because we have a stunning North Carolina Highlight Film from Life Stage Films. And believe me, you’ll want a few minutes alone with this Outer Banks beach affair. We’ll call it a mini-vaca in the middle of your Tuesday. Sounds great, right? Well it really is. Great, that is. The warm beach, a flowy dress, and a couple so sweetly in love, you’ll be grateful you closed your office door. Oh, and grab a box of tissues! I’ll leave you to your vacation now, but when you’re finished and you need a little more, check out Life Stage’s blog. And I’ll field your phone calls for you.

From Kara at Life StageJoey & Carrie’s wedding day had it all. It’s almost impossible how perfect Joey & Carrie’s wedding was, and we had the privilege of filming one of the best days we have ever had on the “job” at Life Stage Films. We couldn’t stop filling this highlights film with all the great things spoken during the toasts, especially from Carrie’s sister and dad, so we chose to use them as “lyrics” to their film’s soundtrack, because honestly, it was the perfect way to tell their wedding day story. Just watch and enjoy.

Carrie & Joey – Outer Banks Wedding Highlights from Life Stage Films on Vimeo.

From the Bride … We met almost 20 years ago at a mutual friend’s house at a Halloween party circa 1991. We were about 15 and 16. Once we were introduced we ended up dating for about two weeks and then called it quits. Typical for 16 year olds, right? After years had gone by, on Memorial Day 2003, Carrie, happened to be single, got a phone call from an old friend who had been living in Chicago and so had Carrie. She asked Carrie if she remembered Joey Bohlmann and would she want to go out tonight to see a band Joey was playing in. The rest fell into place from there.

We’ve been visiting the Outer Banks for the last several years with our families. It is where we were engaged. It is a mystical, relaxing and beautiful place. The Sanderling just seemed like the perfect venue for our wedding. So quaint and excellent service. Wendy Murray the event coordinator was amazing to work with.

We wanted a beachy ambiance with a vintage flair. I love fall colors so we chose burnt orange, eggplant, chocolate and cream for our color scheme. We went with Holiday House for florals and decor.

We actually had our matchmakers present the sand for the sand ceremony with was so fitting and special. They realized what important roles they played in our relationship. I loved the ceremony. It was absolutely magical and the weather was perfect. I had no idea that would actually be my favorite part.

  3. Mallory says:

@Meg, we're not sure, but it is stunning! I'm looking into it for you now.

  4. What a gorgeous dress! She looks stunning in it.

  5. Carrie says:

Hi, I am the bride. I just saw this for the first time. How exciting! My headpiece is a Jenny Packham design as well as the dress. Thanks for the nice compliments:)

  6. Mallory says:

Hi Carrie - thanks for popping in to answer Meg's question. You're wedding was absolutely beautiful. Congratulations!

  7. Matt Davis says:

SMP ladies you rock! It's always a pleasure knowing you all trust us to provide classy, unique and emotional wedding films as content and inspiration to your readers. I LOVE the pastor's message, and like the post said, we felt using a song with lyrics wouldn't even come close to finding an ethereal instrumental song and using his words as the lyrics to their story. Just to clarify, I think Carrie fell in love with this video a few months ago when we presented it to her. I think she means she just saw this post for the first time! :) I don't want anyone thinking this is how we showed her the film! Whew! :)

  8. Judy says:

It was the perfect day, the ceremony was glorious and uplifting. They are a great couple and are loved very much.

  9. Nannette says:

I still smile when I think about this particular wedding. So very special, such close families and friends- enjoying the wedding celebration while truly loving and supporting each other. AMAZING DAY. I am honored that The Proper Setting had a small part in this magical day!

  10. Carrie says:

Yes. Just to clarify. This was the first time I saw the post. Life Stage presented us with our video few months back. They have done an amazing job and we couldn't be happier!

  11. Mallory says:

Thanks so much Matt and Nannette for such a great wedding. Matt - this Highlight film is beyond gorgeous. We love it.

  12. Kathy Bohlmann says:

I absolutely love this video! It is so beautiful and makes me want to go back and relive the entire week but especially Carrie and Joey's beautiful wedding. I need to mention too that we had the rehearsal dinner catered by Eric Kallestad from the Red Sky Cafe and it was such an awesome event as well. The food was phenomenal, the presentation beautiful and everyone, especially Eric were beyond belief in making a long distance planned event turn out so special for Joey and Carrie and all of our guests. All in all, it was a spectacular wedding from beginning to end!

  13. Madison says:

    What a stunning dress!

  14. LoLo Bink says:

Carrie is one of my best friends from college and I was honored to be in her wedding. I have honestly been in 14 weddings in the past 3 years and never been to one quite like this. Carrie has an amazing family to start, then after meeting Joey's family I was blown away. From the moment we all arrived, the food, the service, the ambience......you couldn't HAVE ASKED FOR MORE. !!! i WAS AND AM HONORED TO HAVE BEEN A PART OF IT. I would highly recommend to anyone and have been. :)

  15. andrea says:

Wow.... Wow, wow, wow! Too lovely and sweet for words! I love the video!
The head piece is amazing - my best friend is engaged and isn't sure she wants to wear a veil so maybe a really gorgeous headband like the brides would be the perfect piece!

  16. Sara Bohlmann says:

Seeing this on stylemepretty.com was first of all, amazing. Joey is my brother, and I have known Carrie since I was young. Their story is full of love and bringing that story to the Outer Banks - a place where we have all vacationed together for years - was the icing on the cake. I was honored to be part of this event, and everytime I see this video, tears engulf my eyes - pure happiness and also the magnificence and beauty that was captured on that beautiful day, it's difficult not to cry! The Outer Banks is a magical place full of beauty, nature and always, a lot of fun. I would recommend this as a MUST destination wedding place for anyone considering celebrating in the states. Congrats Joey and Carrie, love you guys!

  17. Ali says:

Carrie and Joey - I have NO clue who you are, but I fell in love with both of you during this video! Your smiles are contagious and so genuine! AMEN to SMP for sharing and to Carrie and Joey's absolutely stunning wedding! If my wedding is half as beautiful and I can look that GOOD on camera, I will be happy :)

  18. Mallory says:

Sara, make sure you give your brother and new sister a big congratulations from all of us! We all fell for their affection and smiles (right Ali??).

  23. Lauren says:

This is an old post, but Carrie I need advice! I'm getting married in Duck and want to know who did your hair? I'm planning this from Brooklyn, so it is hard to research. If you see this, let me know. Thanks!

PS. Your wedding looked beautiful. And I also have a Jenny Packham dress! :)

  24. Mallory says:

Hi Lauren! I'm going to pass along your comment to Carrie. Hopefully she'll have a name for you!
