From the Bride-to-Be… Randy and I were both born and raised in Florida and grew up in a small town where not much has changed. We live in a simple, but lovely, beach town. I wanted the images captured to be like our hometown, classic with modern twist.
For me, there was only one apparel store that boasts both those styles and that is J.Crew, where most of our clothes worn for the photos were purchased. For our shoot, we went to various locations that gave us that “Florida feel,” which we both wanted. We shot at a historical plantation, the beach, a garden and an abandoned lot. My favorite book is “Gone with the Wind” and I always had a love for the old vintage southern feel, which is why I picked the Gamble Plantation as a location.
Since Randy and I both grew up minutes from the water, having a beach location was absolutely necessary. As for the floral and wild settings, I ardently believe natural beauty is the best and wanted that to be in the backdrop of our photos. The props that were used, like the chalkboards and banner, were ordered from Etsy. The Fleur basket I carried I found at a consignment shop for $1.50!
