Many of you may be planning your weekend picnic, or gazing out your window to the beautiful flowers which are indicative of spring. But we know that all the winter brides out there are scouring the internet and magazines for spectacular snowy inspiration. So today’s Canadian wedding from the oh-so-wonderful Melissa Andre Events as captured by Little White Dress is dedicated to you. The stunning combination of warm and cool colors, cozy and sweet details, make for the perfect jumping point, Cold Weather Brides. And if you can believe it, this bride made or collected most of the decor herself! Spend some time with this adorable couple, and then check out Melissa’s blog for more winter wedded bliss.

I’ve always loved the cozy, romantic feeling of winter, however, I am sure that most people thought Dave and I were crazy for choosing a wedding date at the end of January! Luckily our families, friends and wedding party humored us and braved the snow and cold to help us celebrate.
There were two ideas that we held onto while we were planning; first, we were determined to keep the day focused on what was really important, and secondly, that we wanted the ceremony and reception to be as personal as possible. I tried to hand-make as much as I could, from the invitations to the favours, the wedding cake to the candle holders, the name tags to the menu cards. My maid of honor and I collected jars, pine cones and wood rounds for months leading up to the wedding while my florist used white flowers, green berries and curly willow to help give the day that wintery, woodsy feeling.
Our ceremony included a number of poetry selections and blessings that were meaningful to Dave and I, allowing us and our guests to feel more connected to the service. For the reception, we knew that we wanted to highlight the beauty of the season in our décor and keep the tone very earthy and organic. Thus, the Millcroft Inn in Alton, ON was an easy choice of venue, as it offered the perfect mix of vintage romance and rustic charm.
The day was so special and I think the excitement that Dave and I felt for our marriage and our life together was evident. Thanks to my wonderful wedding planner, Melissa Andre, everything went so smoothly and the day was even more perfect than I could have envisioned!

As a winter Bride, I adore the cozy, romantic feeling of a winter wedding & this wedding captures it beautifully!
Winter weddings are my weakness...as much as I hate being cold they seem to be just regal. What a beautiful wedding. Her shrug is stunning!
This couple looks so cute. Love the dress and the whole deco!
Winter WonderFUL land!!
This is beautiful! Where is the reception venue (we're considering having a winter wedding in Toronto!)?
@Lindsay71512, The venue is right outside the city, it's called Millcroft Inn (linked in the credits above). Hope that helps!
Thank you so much!
What a great idea to incorporate pine cones! I especially love them on top of the cake. Beautiful wedding.
These images really do a fabulous job of conveying the joy of the bride. That is, for me, the complete job of a good wedding photographer. Nice.
Jennifer was truly the sweetest bride to work with! So glad i was part of planning her lovely day.
Where did you get the pine cone escort card holders?
@Eliza, I believe those are just pinecones off a tree! The effect is great, isn't it?
Love the groom's shot having snow on his shoulder and the last one which is in monochrome! Outstanding work!
