Austin Photo Shoot by The Nichols + The Nouveau Romantics

Once in a while we get some wedding inspiration that makes me want to get married all over again.  That was certainly the case when I saw this sweet and romantic spring photo shoot from The Nouveau Romantics and The Nichols.  It makes my bohemian heart want to sing out a little folk tune and be surrounded by poppies for the rest of my life.  Austin is quickly climbing to the number one spot of my top cities to inhabit list and you might just find me there in that perfect hippie dress and flower halo.  Click here to see even more!

From Liz of The Nouveau Romantics… Most of my inspiration comes from consideration of the venue, time of year, and ambiance – and in this case, the classic Wild Onion Ranch, its fields of long horn cattle, and the vernal equinox all played a part in shaping my idea of a folk-inspired celebration of spring.  I envisioned a layered palette of brilliant Icelandic poppies, vine greens, all grounded with textured wood and deep blues.

I wanted to use this opportunity to showcase the rich variety of local products and talent here in Austin, which ran the gamut from: the rooster tea towel as napkins from Austinite Leah Duncan, the locally-grown poppies, to the collaboration between up-and-comers Loot Vintage Rentals, Bake Sale, Antiquaria, and myself.  I believe that collaboration is the heart of all great design, and the opportunity to work with all the above ladies, Jennifer Nichols as well as Jess from Magpie Paperworks was a dream. Jess took inspiration from the venue and Leah’s folk-inspired illustrations to craft an invitation suite and menu rounds that reflected the multi-layered and whimsical design.

Finally, the bohemian dress from Odylyne (that had all of the ladies cooing) and the incredible eye of The Nichols Photography really brought everything together—a laid-back celebration of Texas, with a twist.
