There is nothing like spending a Friday soaking up a healthy dose of inspiration!  Especially when that inspiration comes in the form of a subtly ’60s, clementine-hued, modern collection from one of our amazing inspiration board mavens Mfrezza.  If you are new to the block, we’ll bring you up to speed before we immerse ourselves in total inspiration. Today is the day for another From Inspiration to Reality feature where some of our favorite vendors take an inspiration board and turn it into real life, adaptable ideas for you to make your own and use in your wedding.

My Modern Clementine

Whether you are modern loving or vintage loving (I’m a little of both) you are sure to find something to adore from this adorable ’60s-infused wedding inspiration by Bliss Wedding & Event Design and C STUDIOS.  There is a touch of Man Men, a hint of modern, a splash of glam and a whole lot of awesome.  That gilded cake takes my breath away and I love each of this bride’s perfectly chic outfits.  There are so my stealworthy ideas so dive in and start pinning, tweeting and making one or two of your own boards!  Click here to see even more!

Now let’s bring all that incredible inspiration we just digested to life with this precious film from one of our favorite cinematographers Studio Z Films. Each little detail is captured so sweetly and I love the inside look into the preparations of the day. They always put together such an amazing reel of moments.

From Bliss Wedding & Event Design… Bold geometric designs, paired with bright Clementine orange, crisp white and lush hints of green, inspired a fresh vision of a chic 1960’s wedding soiree.  We gathered our most beloved wedding artists to marry nostalgic 1960’s elements with modern day accouterments.

The bride sets the tone throughout her wedding day by revealing two distinct looks.  In the bride’s first look, she exudes regal, elegant composure in her Melissa Sweet gown (Sweet Carrine), paired with delicate strands of pearls, and a birdcage veil from Big Rock Little Rooster. For her second look, her charming Platinum dress by Priscilla of Boston (designed by Kenneth Pool) along with oversized pearls from Francesca’s, set the stage for a light-hearted reception celebration.  Throughout the day, her groom pairs perfectly with both looks in his classic white dinner jacket, black bow tie and black pants.

The stately Bryn Du Mansion was the ideal location for this bright, classic look.  The mansion has several expansive rooms, which haven’t been used in decades, which each feature the architectural character and antique details that served as the perfect backdrop for this nostalgic celebration.

La Tavola’s New York linen was the first, and most essential, part of the inspiration for the tablescape. The tiny, overlapping sequins created a texture that was reminiscent of fabrics from the 1960’s.  Next, we layered the look with colorful, vintage Viking glassware and a variety of fresh-cut floral arrangements, from Flowers on Orchard Lane, to add bright pops of Clementine orange and grass green.  The juxtaposition of modern and vintage glassware, replica designer Ghost Chairs, whimsical dinnerware and vintage metallic accessories, elevated the level of sophistication while still keeping the look fresh and approachable.

The delightful dessert table was a collaboration of the very best bakery artisans, including Jan Kish of La Petite Fleur, Pistacia Vera, Queen City Cookies and Cupcake Yum Yum.  Jan Kish designed the couture cake, for which she meticulously hand-sculpted the bronze sunbursts and applied each glittering silver ball by hand for a cake that is (almost) too gorgeous to eat!  She also provided the beautiful snowball cookies and the white chocolate and keylime cake truffles.  The light and decadent Pistacia Vera macarons are local favorites and their sugar-coated pate’ de fruit was a most perfect wedding favor. The adorable Clementine infused mini cupcakes and sweet powdered marshmallow clouds were designed by Cupcake Yum Yum.  And none other than Queen City Cookies provided the intricate and beautifully designed shortbread cookies.

  1. It was so fun to be part of this Inspiration to Reality! I designed the bold geometric invitation and round place cards and wanted to let readers know that I am providing the free printable templates for both the invitation and place cards at MerrimentDesign.com. Thanks to Bliss Wedding & Event Design and C STUDIOS for including me in their vision.

  2. Sinead says:

Who designed the birdcage, I really like how it sits flat across the head, thanks.

  4. Kasey says:

This was such a fun shoot to produce! I'm so in love with the color palate. Perfect for spring! Thank you so much for featuring us today!

  5. Sinead - the birdcage veil was from a couture boutique here in Columbus, Ohio called Big Rock Little Rooster. Their website is: www.bigrocklittlerooster.com :)

  6. Jordan says:

Where is the first pearl necklace from? i LOVE that!! its stunning? Thanks!

  7. The gilded cake took my breath away, and the oversize pearls were showstopping. Just marvelous! Also, the poppies on the mantle were a great addition for this scheme, I wonder if more were used in the wedding decor? Thank you for sharing! -LL

  8. Jordan - The multi-strand pearl and gold chain necklace was borrowed from my personal collection of jewelry. I bought it years ago - and honestly can't recall where it was from! However, the multi-strand of over-sized pearls is from a boutique called Francesca's Collcetions http://www.francescascollections.com/

  9. Benita Wheeler says:

I love that dress with the veil. I think it so beautiful. The invitations are so great with those colors. It looks like a spring moment. Most importantly, the ideas look like a moment. It reminds me of the old photographs of family.

  10. Katie says:

Woohoo! Loved seeing Columbus on SMP! Can't wait to look at dresses at both stores :)

  11. Ana says:

Beautiful wedding! I really love it: very stylish and chic!

  12. Thanks to the amazing team that brought my inspiration board to life. I love your interpretation - it's so very chic! What a stunning bride and groom! Models or a real couple? His tux is so 1960s, I love it, and her whole looks is just so glam! I also LOVE the invitation! Great great work!

  13. Madison says:

love this whole look, its super glamourous!

  14. Kasey says:

Katie - We love seeing CBUS on Style Me Pretty too! Happy shopping! Please tell Kristin at BRLR and Lindsay at LJM we said hello!

Maggie - we used models for this shoot. Not that we wouldn't have loved to use a real couple but we had a very specific look in mind and were working on a tight timeline. We needed to complete the shoot before our weddings began so there wasn't enough time to do a real couple search. We'd like to do that next time though!

A big thank you to you for creating this fun board. We loved the brightness of the orange and green mixed with the 60's inspired feel!

  15. The shoot turned out better than I could have imagined. It was fun to work with everyone. Unbelievably stunning! Thank You!

  16. Jan Kish says:

I want to express my appreciation and thanks to Bliss Wedding & Event Design and C STUDIOS for including us in this shoot. And thanks to all for the wonderful comments on the cake! The gilded fans certainly added a bold statement which lent itself to the retro looking Kasey and Amy wanted to achieve. What fun we had in making sure the cake played its role well in bringing this inspiration board to life!

  17. Love how causal but yet classy and chic that dress is.
