When I tell you that this wedding was budget friendly and mainly DIY, you are probably going to fall out of your chair! This entire event was a true labor of love: Everything from the invites to the flowers to the cakes (yes, even the amazing cakes!) were made by the bride, her family and friends. Even the bride’s sister, Lauren Waye, threw her hat into the ring and photographed the entire day. Now that’s one talented family! Head over to the gallery for even more handmade amazingness.

I always planned on having a small budget wedding, which is why I did so much of the work myself. We both have small families and because we decided not to have a bridal party we asked our friends to been involved in different ways- one was the ring bearer, a couple did readings, another was the mc for the night. My dress was bought online from America and fitted perfectly when it arrived. I decided to add in a jewelled belt (that I bought for $30) with a sash, so a fashion designer friend helped out. I made all the invitations and bomboniere myself. The amazing flowers were done by a friend of a friend and my mum helped out in putting the arrangements together. On the day we hired a car to get around in, which my sister’s partner drove. We chose a small reception venue which was limited to 40 people seated however we had a lot more people invited to the park for the ceremony. So I decided to do afternoon champagne and canapes there, which gave us a chance to chat with everyone that wasn’t coming to the reception- we purchased all the alcohol and made most of the food and had friends serve for us. My sister is a wedding photographer and covered the day as our wedding gift. During the location photos we did a shot of David and I holding a thank you sign, which we then used for the thank you cards. Myself and my mother in law made the cakes for the reception (each a different flavour) and then had them decorated by Mandy (after my failed attempts!) The Pony Club had speakers built in throughout the venue, so we made up playlists on the ipod instead of hiring a dj. It is a tapas restaurant, so the night consisted of many small serves designed for sharing, which was lots of fun and felt like there was food constantly arriving at the table! We had an online registry to help pay for our honeymoon. www.notanothertoaster.com is a brilliant site where you can choose specific events that guests can pay for- anything from flights to theatre tickets, to dinner.

Love the coloring! I love that belt and am totally hoping a similar one pops up on Gilt Groupe today (There is a bridal sale on it at noon). I haven't been able to find a similar one any other place. Where is yours from? Fingers crossed for Gilt today anyway! Here is an invite if you aren't already signed up (I will have my trigger finger ready at 11:59!)- http://www DOT gilt DOT com/invite/sl29

love the bouquet. does anyone know what the gray flower balls are called? I'm getting married in october and my colors are yellow and grey. Please post it if you know! Thanks. Gorgeous wedding!

I absolutely love the clutch! Any chance I might be able to find that in the US? Thanks!

  6. Beth says:

Thanks for the kind comments. The clutch is Olga Berg and I ordered it online some time ago. The website is www.olgaberg.com.au. You can shop online but I'm not sure if they ship internationally (it's an Australian brand).

The belt was from a shop called Forever New (at a local shopping mall). It was a lucky find really. The silver part you see was attached to a cream fabric that I removed and a friend reattached it to the gray sash. I found a lot of beautiful belts on Etsy that I would've bought if I didn't find this one.

I'm sorry I don't know what the gray flowers are called. I gave the florist the colour scheme I wanted and let him choose the flowers based on what was in season etc so I didn't specifically choose them.

    Hope that helps.
