This New Zealand wedding by Vela Images falls into the category of weddings that I completely and wholly adore. It is totally handmade with loads of uber-sweet details and awesome, candid photos of smiling faces. I can tell just from these images that it was a day full of joy and romance for everyone who attended. On a side note, I need to get my hands on one of those bridesmaid dresses ASAP! I am quite smitten with the whole sh-bang! Check out more DIY from down under in the full gallery!

From Vela Images… Luke and Melati travelled from Sydney, Australia to be married in New Zealand at The Ridge Country Retreat in the spectacular Bay of Plenty in the North Island of New Zealand. Melati not only made all of her decorations (yes that does include the meters and meters of hand sewn bunting!), she also brought it all over on the flight from Australia to New Zealand with the help of her bridesmaids and guests. This hilltop wedding was an intimate affair with 35 close family and friends taking part in the celebration.
Melati’s advice for anyone planning an overseas destination wedding would be to make sure you have plenty of friends to help you transport decorations and do make sure you confirm all hair and makeup bookings in advance. Melati was double booked at her hair salon but a local Tauranga salon, Salon One, pulled some strings to accommodate her at the last minute.

I am loving that you are featuring more weddings from downunder. The bride did a great job of putting it all together!
I love the floral, flirty bridesmaids dresses!
I must know where to find those amazing bridesmaids dresses!
Where are the table numbers from? We are looking for something exactly like that for a client! Love them!
Those bridesmaids dresses are great! I love that they will be able to wear them again. Also love the umbrellas! It's the perfect accessory for that picture :)

Thank you so much everyone for your lovely comments and to the wonderful SMP for featuring me today. Somebody asked about the bridesmaids dresses, they are from "Portmans" in Australia, I have had two weddings this season with gorgeous dresses from Portmans. A big thank you to Luke & Melati the stylish and beautiful couple! Greta - the photographer of this wedding from www.velaimages.com PS: I do travel internationally for weddings:-)
I;d love to know where the bride found all the bird cages!
The bunting flags look great hung from the ceiling like that. The dresses are just divine!
I would also like to know where the bride found all the birdcages. I was planning on doing something similiar for center pieces and havent been able to find any that are reasonably priced.
