Everything about this California wedding by Amanda Thiessen Photography, set on the sandy shores of Laguna Beach, is just all kinds of pretty. Soft, feminine details and vintage touches are sure to weaken the knees of our inner girlie girls. But my favorite part of this beach bash? The glowing, happy faces of the gorgeous bride and groom and their two cutie pups! Keep soaking up the goodness from this beachy charmer in the full gallery!

From Amanda Thiessen Photography… This intimate wedding of 40 people took place on September 13, 2010 in Laguna Beach, CA. It was a gorgeous sunny day. The bride and her bridesmaids got ready in a beautiful suite at the quaint Pacific Edge Hotel (in Laguna). The guys were ready hours before and hung out in their own room, telling jokes, having fun, being guys. The girls wore short chocolate color dresses and the bride complimented the dresses by wearing a gorgeous sash on her dress, which was finished off with an antique brouch in the back (on the bow).
After everyone was finished getting ready we drove a quick 10 minutes to the ceremony location, Crescent Bay Point Park. It was a very intimate ceremony. Overlooking the beautiful blue ocean. As the bridal party made their way down the aisle, the bride and groom’s dogs made it down the aisle too. The bride glistened as she walked down and everyone was in awe.
After the short (but sweet) vows we took some portraits and headed back over to The Pacific Edge Hotel where their reception was being held. The balcony deck looked over the ocean. And, if you looked down it was right on the sand. There were Chinese Lanterns filling the sky and the tables were decorated with beautiful vintage/victorian plates/glassware. The vases were sweetly simple filled with beautiful flowers. Speeches were had, great buffet style food was eaten and lots of dancing. There was also a photo booth that kept people going back for more!
As the sun began to go down the music went higher and higher and by the end of the night, everyone was dancing! Kate (bride) & Jordan’s (groom) friends/family definitely knew how to keep the party going, and Jordan being in the great band (Every Time I Die) knew how to party. The wedding was a blast and some of the most memorable moments were hands down the dances. I’ve seen a lot of first dances between grooms and their brides and this one got me teary-eyed. They were so focused on each other and the moment, it was beautiful and the emotion just pours out the film. Jordan’s dance with his mom was also so so sweet. You could feel the love from this entire family and it was just such a dream to be able to photograph this wedding. The night went on with everyone dancing underneath the glistening lanterns, overlooking the ocean while the waves crashed onto shore. It was a good day.

Wow! What a beautiful, beach wedding! I'm in love! The bride looks gorgeous, love her gown, hair and makeup. The table settings are fantastic, love the mixed china!

Thank you all so much for your kind words! We LOVED our photographer Amanda Thiessen! Also, I got my dress at Lili Bridal in Tarzana, CA (the designer was Jim Hjelm) and I cannot say enough good things about them! One of the best choices I made in my wedding was making the trek up there from Orange County. It was SO worth it. They were wonderful every step of the way.
Also, since many of you have asked about the different vintage china patterns, I spent 2 years collecting all of them! I went on Etsy and Ebay, and the last Sunday every month, there's an antique swap meet in Irvine that I went to. I still have all of them boxed up in my garage. I'm definitely looking to sell them. I have a couple interested parties that I'm waiting to hear back from now, but in case they don't work out, anyone interested can email me at KateBrenner@gmail.com. They're just taking up (TONS of) space in my garage right now, so I really should be getting rid of them, even though it will be sad to part with them!
I also have all of the coordinating napkins that my mother hand made to go with each pattern! She made hundreds and we only used about 50 or so. She wanted to be sure that we had enough to go with each pattern set we chose without having to duplicate any pattern on any of the tables. If anyone is interested in those, also feel free to email me. :) After the wedding, she did the cutest thing and made my husband and I a baby blanket from the left over pieces of all of the fabrics she used!
Eveo, my dress was by Jim Hjelm style 8857, or jh8857. It's an older design that they don't make samples for anymore, as I think lots of girls are going for dresses that are much more embellished these days. This dress was VERY hard to find. I saw a picture of it online, and of course it was nowhere to be found. Not in California, or Arizona or NY where I have family. :( Finally, after a recommendation from a friend of mine, I tried a bridal store (Lili Bridal) about 30 miles from me because his wife had such a great experience there. I mentioned the dress knowing they didn't have it (trust me, I called EVERYWHERE) but just to see if they had something similar. Not only did they track the dress down for me, they paid to have it shipped out for me to try on, AND IN MY SIZE!! I loved my dress! I still try to rationalize wearing to to places, dinner parties, grocery store, etc. Hey, Super Bowl parties are a lot more formal than they used to be! ;) I wish.
The dress normally comes with a GORGEOUS lace bolero, but I opted for the poofy veil instead and didn't feel they went together. The sash comes in a number of colors, but I fell in love with the taupe. As I recall now, that was another reason I loved my bridal salon. When the designer sent the dress, the sash was very short. The designer wanted to charge me about $300 for a new sash long enough to hit the end of the train, but the wonderful lady at Lili (Maria) fought for me and got me the one I wanted for no charge. :)
Oh yeah, one other thing I should mention, the dress had a very slight sweetheart neckline originally. The seamstress at Lili created the gathered sweetheart neckline for me, and the PRETTIEST bustle I've ever seen, if I do say so myself!! She was wonderful. I'm not sure if the bustle ended up in any pictures though, I haven't looked.
What beautiful pictures. Congrats to Kate and Jordan! I loved the dogs dressed up, too. The picture of Kate on the beach is stunning. I've been looking at beach wedding/reception venues and Pac Edge seems really great with their offerings, etc (http://www.pacificedgehotel.com/laguna-beach-events.aspx ) and I've heard their customer service is top-notch as well. Congrats, again!
Where are those shoes from? I'm looking for a pair just like them to go with my gray and white wedding.
Terri, the shoes are Badgley Mischka.
Congrats Kate! Your wedding was beautiful! I especially LOVE your china. I really want to use my own china at my wedding reception, so I can mix and match the way you did, but I am having the hardest time figuring out how to pull it off logistically. Would you mind explaining how you did it? Did your caterer or venue bus and clean the dishes? Or did you have to hire outside help? We are planning an outdoor wedding and reception at a nearby park, so there will not be a kitchen. I can't seem to let go of this dream, though. Thanks for any advice!
Hello, again! For those of you interested in renting my shabby chic mismatched china, I made a facebook page with pictures! :)
