From Julie Wilhite… Beth and Carl’s wedding was an intimate, relaxed day filled with family and friends. Starting with nervous preparations at the Hotel Derek, where the couple chose to see each other prior to the ceremony.  Upon seeing each other, their nerves were instantly calmed and the energy between the two of them was excited and so in love. The ceremony took place in the gardens of Ouisie’s Table, followed by a late lunch with their close family.  The party then continued at Carl’s bar in the eclectic Montrose area of Houston – Anvil.  Beth and Carl were then surrounded by even more friends as they enjoyed yummy special cocktails, Canadian pierogis celebrating Carl’s Canadian background and Texas cupcakes. The truly special part of their celebration was watching how friends and family came together to make their day special and filled with beautiful details.

Beth and Carl were truly a unique couple – very down to earth, humble and incredibly in love.  Beth described Carl as a hard-core, burly biker dude and upon meeting him, you realized he was really a big teddy bear.  The couple spent most of their engagement separated by continents since Carl has been located in Dubai for work.  Beth did most of their planning and ran all of the ideas and plans by Carl at night over skype.  She wanted to make sure that this day was about the two of them and that it truly represented who they are.  The couple now happily lives in Dubai.

Love seeing a Houston wedding and the Anvil is one of my absolute favorite spots! If we were having our wedding here instead of my hometown I would totally do an afterparty there.

For those asking about the dress, it looks like the Watters Tyler to me.

  8. Bre says:

What a fun, stylish Houston wedding! I love the autumnal colors and flowers, and the photos. Especially the cool shots of the M.A.C. palettes.

  9. This was such a beautiful wedding. The bride and groom were such a delight to work with! Beth's dress is the Watters Tyler. She purchased the black sash from a local bridal store. She wore a white sash for the ceremony, then changed into black for the after party. This couple was a little country and a little rock in roll. During the planning stages, we brought in all of their favorites- things to represent Carl being from Canada and places they both enjoy in Houston, like Anvil and Ouisi's table.

Julie Wilhite did a fabulous job with the photos and really brought out the uniqueness of this couple!

  14. Beth Sorensen says:

Thank you Julie and Ashleigh for making our day so fun! You two are SO good at what you do and made me feel so at ease that day, I didn't have to worry about a thing, THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Ashleigh went all over town looking for perogies, found them, and then stayed up the night before making them!! Both of these ladies went the extra mile. The cake topper was bought from Arnie's party supply store in Houston, ~my husband added the bandana and drew the beard on :) ~, the guest book I got on www.etsy.com from the shop named: inspiredbymarie. I got the dress and sashes at www.brickhousebridal.com. My best friend let me borrow the bracelet, she got it from a shop in California, www.thewhitedress.com. It's fun being on the other side of the world and seeing these pictures again and reading the sweet comments :)

Did you rent, make, or buy that cupcake tower? I love it and am looking for something a little more modern than the traditional tower...Thanks! Beautiful wedding :)

  16. Madison says:

What a beautiful wedding, love the pic of the couple in her veil :)

  17. Beth Sorensen says:

We rented the cupcake tower from a cupcake shop in Houston called Crave... we also looked at Sprinkles cupcake shop and they had towers to rent also. I think a lot of cupcake specialty shops have them available for rent :) Good luck!

  18. ugh, Anvil is my favorite. It's theirs!? How awesome are they! Congratulations you two!

  19. Cortney says:

    Hi Beth,
You looked gorgeous at your wedding! Can you tell me if your Watters Tyler dress was Ivory or White? Thank you!
