Baltimore Wedding by Hales Studio

January 26th. 2011 by A. Blaire | Filed Under | 25 comments

For all the brides on a budget out there, here is a wedding that is just as budget friendly as it is beautiful. Full of fun DIY projects, contributions from friends and family, and a Modern Trousseau dress the bride found at a consignment shop (someone needs to tell me just where that consignment shop is!) – this wedding just goes to show just how far a little creativity will go. Not to mention the bride’s talented friend, Rebecca of Hales Studio, gave the bride the gift of timeless images – all of which you can see in the full gallery.

From Rebecca of Hales Studio…Angela and I went to College together so when I heard she was engaged I couldn’t resist offering to photograph her wedding. It was a great day and so lovely to be a part of such a special day in a friends life. Angela and Chris’ Baltimore wedding was filled with do it yourself ideas. Angela wasn’t going to spend a lot of money on her dress but couldn’t refuse the Modern Trousseau dress she found in a consignment shop! It needed no alterations as if it was made for her.

Every detail was done on a budget right down to her flowers. Angela had a friend do all the flowers for her wedding. All the succulents were from her Maid of Honors garden in California and the grooms parents garden! They were carefully dug up, packed and shipped to Baltimore. They were put into beautiful center pieces which Angela found all the glassware at Thrift Stores. The delicious sangria was made by her maid of honor and brought in for the reception! Even their cake was something special. The baker donates all her profits to a DC nonprofit that fights human trafficking! This wedding was so lovely and just proves you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a gorgeous wedding.

What an absolutely gorgeous wedding! I love all the help and wonderful vendors that were part of it. And I must - MUST - know what thrift store she went to for the dress, because I will get in my car and drive there right now, snow or no snow!

Gorgeous wedding! Love her dress. I got my bridal gown at a consignment shop as well. Seattle has a bridal dress-only consignment shop called Blue Sky Bridal. They are amazing. I found the exact dress I wanted in my exact size in perfect condition. It was a budget-bride's dream come true!

Hi All- this is Angela - the bride from this post. I am flattered by the feedback here. Our wedding was a blast and totally reflected Chris and I. To answer some of your questions...

    - Groom's suit and tie from Express! We wanted gray, but all gray tuxes for rent just weren't our style. Guys tuxes were from Men's Warehouse, we wanted them in gray, but didn't want to force them to buy suits.

    - My dress is Bianca from Modern Trousseau ('07 collection). Purchased is from I DO I DO Wedding Gowns in Gaithersburg, MD. Wasn't the exact bargain I was hoping for... $2,200, which was a big drop from the 4-5k it retailed for. I also want to resell it (no plans to walk back down the aisle). It's a 6P (I wear a 2P in street clothes) and I didn't need to make one alteration (I'm 4' 11, but 5' 3ish w/wedding shoes)!

    - Milk vases were from a plethora of thrift stores, some as low as $.50, others near $10. Other mason jars from my family's stash (not sure where they came from, but my parents had a variety of vintage canning jars. We also used old milk jars with my mom's maiden name on them, her grandfather was a real-life milk man!

    Hi Angela!

My name is Kristin and I wanted to say I LOVE your pictures! Congrats on the wedding! I also am in love with your dress and I read in a earlier post that you were possibly interested in selling it. It is exactly the style I am looking for! I would like to speak with you more about the possibility of purchasing it from you, if it is still available. If you would, please email me at lopes.pirolli.wedding@gmail.com. Thanks so much and congrats again!!!
