My mother and I planned the wedding together, we wanted it to be simple but elegant, and feel like a classic at home wedding in Connecticut. We approached it like a a Gatsby affair, as we wanted big band music, the formal elegance of black tie, complimented by shades of ivory and creams that were carried through in the flower arrangements, groomsmen and bridesmaid attire, candle light, and ivory lanterns. Rather than incorporating complex details, we focused on making sure the core elements that made up the wedding were memorable. What helped make that easy was that we had great vendors and a wonderful venue, my parents house. The backdrop, couldn’t have been more beautiful with the rolling lawn and greenery of the trees. As a result, we didn’t have to add complex flower arrangements or bring in additional decor. Our vendors were wonderful to work with because they produced flawless work, especially the outstanding photography. The food was delicious, the music was wonderful, the tent and flowers were simply elegant, and we are so lucky to have great pictures to remember it all by!
What made all the difference in the planning process was maintaining our classic theme, and remembering that we wanted the wedding to feel intimate amongst our close friends and family. With around 125 guests, we were able to focus on our guests, and ensure they felt that were a special part of the event. We engaged a day of wedding coordinator, who helped make the day stress free, and ensure that the months of planning came to fruition!
