Our love story. Its a transatlantic story of love and fate. In 2002, David took a chance on a job through his advertising agency and moved  from the UK to San Francisco. It was there that we met. He was supposed to stay for only a year, when love struck!! After four years together in San Francisco we moved to London to meet his family. After 6 months David proposed looking out over an amazing London skyline. I said yes! We moved back to San Francisco at the beginning of 2010 and planned our outdoor backyard wedding.

The wedding was truly a fairtytale. From the moment we were engaged, I knew I wanted to have a lakeside ceremony and reception at my parents lake home in Clearlake, California. This is where I have spent every summer since I was the age of 7 so it was a special place for me and my family. My vision was to have an informal outdoor wedding with a touch of English tradition. We created everything ourselves; from building out a large scale tent to the DIY table tents, to the homemade cookies… the personal details were truly a reflection of us. As a surprise to our guests, my parents and I arrived to the ceremony by boat. The three of us walked down our dock and continued with a short but traditional ceremony service officiated by our dear friend/neighbor. On the day of our wedding the Lake sparkled in a special way, the grounds were freshly manicured, the tent was a beauteous marvel and the trees festooned with hanging glass balls and paper lanterns. There were twinkling lights and a Harvest Moon which all contributed to the romantic, elegant atmosphere!  It was truly our dream wedding.

Being a friend of Beth's since high school, I was a reader in this wedding and I can tell you it was stunning/gorgeous/beautiful/thoughtful/heartwarming when I observed it from my own two eyes. Somehow, these photos and Beth's beautiful description of her and David's day made me think I missed all the magic going on around me. I guess I couldn't see the forest for the trees at the lake house. Bravo Bruces. You were on a boat. And that is awesome. Enjoy your "Journey" together. I hope I can make it across the bridge to join you from time to time. Love, Kar
