Santa Barbara Wedding by Jose Villa + Jill La Fleur

January 13th. 2011 by Erin | Filed Under | 46 comments

This next wedding may not be south of the border per say but it definitely has the festive flavor of Mexico tucked into every perfect corner as well as a team of really talented vendors behind the scenes. Jill La Fleur lent her amazing eye for design to this fete and created what can only be described as the most colorful, most creative, most knock you out of your seat wedding we’ve seen in a long time. Add to that Jose Villa’s breathtaking images and a super adorable and oh-so-in-love couple and we have the makings of THE BEST WEDDING EVER. See the rest of the fiesta in the gallery and we will be back in a bit with the only thing that could possibly follow this wedding, the AMAZING film of the day by Joel Serrato.

see all of the fabulous details here!

From Jill La Fleur… Katie and Mike were such a fun-loving couple and planning their wedding with them was so much fun for me! In choosing the Santa Barbara County Courthouse and the Santa Barbara Historical Museum, and having lived in Santa Barbara, they really wanted to capture the Spanish feel of this city, which they love about it, and incorporate it in to their wedding. And the best part…they wanted any and all fun and creative ideas to be thrown their way to make their day truly unique and festive!

We used Spanish tiles and had them hand-printed to make into escort cards and ordered Spanish tile table numbers as well. Maracas were a fun addition for the guests to play along with by the dance floor! The bar, which I designed with the help of Bella Vista Designs, was made to feel like a true Mexican Cantina, complete with props he purchased down in Mexico and a full tequila back-bar. And we decided tequila was the way to go for toasts rather than Champagne, so we rented tequila shot glasses, while the family brought in unique bottles of tequila for each table to toast with. The beautiful lanterns overhead were also purchased in Mexico by Bella Vista Designs and they hand-made the colorful paper lanterns. The pinata, created by Camilla Svensson Burns, was filled with Mexican candy and sweet love notes. The paper banners were designed with the couple’s names and wedding date…a festive touch and a great memento for them to take home. The churros and churro cupcakes were amazing with the Mexican Hot Chocolate and a big hit at the end of the night!

The couple were beautiful, truly in love, super-fun, and truly gracious…one of my favorite weddings of year to help design and plan!

Absolutely LOVE this wedding - what lovely design & gorgeous couple - such great inspiration!!

    Couple of questions:
    1. Any information on where you got the gorgeous maracas?
    2. The bride/groom signs?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi there
This is a gorgeous wedding; I love all of the quirky bits; I am from the UK and getting married in a marquee in August this year and would love to know where you got the personalised bunting (paper banner) with the bride and grooms name on.
    Thanks,
    Rebecca

This was such a fun wedding to plan...really one of my favorite couples this year as they are so darn cute, so much fun and so in love! And they really were open to all kinds of creative input, which was so much fun as their planner! And of course I absolutely love this entire team of vendors!! The design team incredible, food and dessert amazing, music was so much fun and the photos and film are just perfect-I love you all dearly!

To answer a few questions from above, the signs were all hand-pained by the beautiful and talented florist, Camilla Svensson Burns. The maracas and the customized paper banners were all provided by her as well. The spanish tiles were ordered online from www.mexicantiles.com and guest names were handwritten by Elegant Letters.

Thanks for the wonderful compliments! I'm so glad that so many of you love this wedding as much as I do! Congratulations to Katie & Mike! I wish you both all the best!

As the Mother-of-Bride I just want to say that as this wedding day was evolving you got a sense that something very, very unique and magical was happening. Truly a memorable celebration obviously because of the amazing bride and groom, but in thanks to wedding planner extroadinaire, Jill La Fleur, and the fantastic team of vendors that she assembled for this wonderful day. I HIGHLY recommend each and every person/company associated with this special "event"!! Thanks everyone!!
