I think succulents are taking over the wedding world right now, and I am A OK with that. They make me stop in my tracks when I see their pretty petals, and I instantly want to touch them.  Like right now for instance, each of these images make me want to reach through the screen. Regardless, this delicious affair shot by Michelle Warren Photography is completely succulent in every sense of the word. It’s sweet, it’s personal and wait until you lay your eyes on the desserts from Enjoy Cupcakes – you’ll want to reach right through the screen for sure. For more images so pretty you’ll want to touch them be sure to check out the gallery.

Even before Mark and I got engaged we both new that we wanted a wedding celebration that wasn’t too formal and would be a great party for all of our closest friends and family. We also knew we wanted to get married close to where we had made our home, San Luis Obispo.  As soon as we went to see the Dana Powers House in Nipomo, CA we instantly fell in love and knew it was the place where we would get married.  We decided to get married in the beautiful garden next to the house and have the reception in the barn. The location has so much natural charm and Judi (she lives in the house on the property) keeps the garden perfectly kept and has accumulated so many sweet antiques and collectibles that we didn’t have to bring much else.

I wanted to keep the feeling of the day very soft and romantic without being too feminine.  Laurel at Adornments flowers helped me envision and create a color palette of creams, whites, greens, greys and browns and a little peach. I knew I wanted to use succulents and Laurel made sure to get them in wherever she could.  Since the wedding I have rooted the succulents that she used in my bouquet and have them planted in my backyard which is nice way to remember the day. I took on a few small projects with the help of my mom and MOH.  We made all of the ceremony programs, drink stirrers for my dad’s homemade margaritas that we served as our signature cocktail, and place cards which were hand dyed manila tags from Olive Manna, a fabulous vendor on Etsy.  My MOH handmade all of our favors, 600 homemade caramels. Mark’s friend made the cornhole set that we had set up at cocktail hour.

Two Cooks Catering helped us come up with a simple, local and delicious menu. We wanted to pay tribute to all the delicious BBQ that you find all over the central coast so we knew we had to have BBQ Chicken and Tri Tip. For dessert, we had a table full of cupcakes from Enjoy! Cupcakes. The day couldn’t have been more perfect or run more smoothly and it was beautifully captured by our photographer, Michelle Warren who was accompanied by her husband Ben.  Michelle is so sweet and so incredibly talented whenever I see her pictures I am amazed by how she captured the feeling of the day.

I love the eclectic feel of this event and how it all compliments each other. The stationary, floral design and fashion are simply beautiful. The rustic venue with the fun details is a great combination.

What an eclectic mix of textures and styles. The succulents are beautiful and it's so great that the couple will always be able to have a living reminder of their wedding day. More and more of the brides I work with are adding succulents - even if it's in a small way.
