Wedding for Two by Aaron Delesie, Lisa Vorce + Mindy Rice

December 16th. 2010 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 77 comments

Today is a really special day on SMP. In part because we FINALLY got our greedy little hands on a brand spanking new Lisa Vorce designed wedding, but also because Aaron Delesie, one of our favorite photogs ever, has helped us construct the photography story himself…handpicking images that allow the grace, the romance and the beauty to unfold so naturally. Top it off with stunning styling and florals by Mindy Rice and we are in total heaven. It’s a full day of Aaron + Lisa + Mindy gorgeousness and we seriously can’t stand to keep you waiting even a second longer. So without further ado, let the loveliness begin! p.s. you can peek at all the pretty right here.

When Aaron called me to tell me about Brian and Carey’s “wedding for two”, I was delighted! Planning and designing private weddings has become a bit of an obsession for us. Nothing more romantic than a private celebration for two! A little bit different than elopements in that these private celebrations have all the core components of a wedding (i.e. cake cutting, etc) — only difference is there are no guests! So intimate, so special, so incredible.

Aaron put Carey and I in touch and I fell in love with her during our first phone call. She is a no nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is woman! We honed in on some of her favorite “likes” (ruffles and feathers!) and her first assignment from me was to find china that spoke to her. She found the most fabulous Marchesa china and everything was designed from there.

Our color story included soft blues, muted pinks, sage greens, and a peppering of gold. Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse provided the perfectly private and romantic backdrop for Carey and Brian’s celebration (and….also happens to offer some of THE most magical natural lighting I’ve ever seen). For the ceremony, Mindy draped the ceremony structure in a soft blue velvet fabric (which draped beautifully!) and we had guinea feather trim sewn along the edges for a stunning accent (an ode to Carey’s love of feathers!). For the aisle runner, we used hundreds of guinea feathers to create one of the most interesting runners we’ve done to date! It was so wonderfully Bohemian — and so unexpected.

It's lovely. Truly. But, I can't help but wonder how their friends and family feel about being excluded from something so elaborate and contrived.

Thank you for all of the kind words!! I am not a super sappy girl, but the best wedding gift I received was Aaron setting me up with Lisa! (and Mindy Rice, and Curtis Heyne....) They are not only super talented, but no joke, the nicest people in America.

It was a PERFECT day, and we are so thankful we did it this way, just for us! If you are planning a wedding, (big or small) this dream team knocks it out of the park every time.

BTW, my dress was AMSALE BLUE LABEL, the style is CALISTA.

    Tovah and Leanna,
Thanks for the complements. My accessories were custom made by Courtney at Doloris Petunia (ETSY)
She is SO talented- and as a bonus while working on this project, she became a great friend too!

Her cuffs (like mine) are currently in Anthropologie stores right now, all of them are one of a kind, so they really are a piece of art- no two are ever alike.

Contact her if you are getting hitched- I am SO glad I chose to do custom accessories. Something cool to keep as an heirloom!

Love it, love it, love it. Especially since I "eloped" in a wedding for two with gown, flowers, cake cutting, etc and had a big wedding later. It was very romantic and holds some of my favorite memories. Lisa Vorce is a fairy godmother. This is stunning.

Danielle, thank you! I designed the invites (actually an announcement, since no one was invited...) myself- and had a letterpress company press them for me. It was my first "wedding announcement" for Pretty Paper, my stationery company.

Carley, the headband is by Doloris Petunia (ETSY) it was custom made for me, but she could definitely design something for you!!

This is a gorgeous wedding, and an utterly ingenious way for someone to have all the intimacy they would want, PLUS their dream vendors and trimmings (that headband! the Loubs!) while still recording it for posterity and family...while cutting costs where most brides dip over: guests. Not for everyone, but a shining example of creativity and thinking outside the box. Brava, Carley!

I totally WISH someone had told me about this idea before my fiance and I started planning. We have already reached the point of no return, but I would have LOVED to have it be just the two of us. Such a romantic idea! And the bride is gorgeous, dress is to die for, and the images are priceless! I'm flabbergasted. <3
