We’re holding today’s first featured wedding very close to our hearts. The GORGEOUS (and I mean seriously gorgeous) bride is the very special Libby Pearn, who heads up our advertising sales here on SMP. But more than that, she is very much a part of our family. She is that girl that you always want to sit beside, that always brings a smile to your face, that just has that special something that seems to be so rare, so unique. So when we heard that she was tying the knot, we basically begged her to let us document it here on SMP. Libby recruited some of our favorite vendors to help her with her wedding including Beautiful Blooms, Well Spun Weddings, Lela Rose, Sarah Drake and photographer, Tony Hoffer and the result was a wedding that was as unfussy as it was elegant, as chic as it was totally approachable. Libby’s wedding is also being featured in The Knot Pennsylvania & Delaware, on stands February 7th!!
Pinch me! We’re on SMP. I have been faithfully devouring Style Me Pretty for 4+ years and couldn’t believe my good fortune when I was asked to become part of the team a little over one year ago. What could be better than planning your very own wedding, while looking at other gorgeous weddings all day long? Not much, I say!
I met the handsome man above in a limo (!) during a mutual friend’s birthday celebration, while attending the University of West Chester, just outside of Philadelphia. After relocating to the Boston area, we entertained the idea of a New England wedding but decided to come home to beautiful Pennsylvania, where so many of our family and friends still live. We instantly fell in love with the John James Audubon Society at Mill Grove as we drove up the long, tree lined drive. This venue exudes Pennsylvania charm and has everything that we were hoping to find. Fieldstone barn (check!), Pavilion with huge fireplace (check!), Classic old estate (check!), Porch with rocking chairs (check!), Owl at the cocktail hour (BIG CHECK!) The owl definitely sealed the deal…
I never anticipated how tough it would be to nail down the overall feel of our wedding, since I see so many wonderful ideas day in and day out! Our “Love Letter” invitations by Sarah Drake set the tone for rustic romance and as the weeks went on, I also found myself incorporating vintage and woodland elements as well. While my mom and I are pros at “hunting and gathering,” we’ll be the first to admit that we sort of lost track of our vision as we got closer to the big day. How were we going to incorporate all of this goodness into one cohesive style? And when I say “goodness” I mean 300+ bud vases, 20+ mason jars, 25 birdcages, an old typewriter, blue/white hankies, family love letters – you name it, we found it.
We chose SMP Little Black Book member, Beautiful Blooms in Philadelphia to discuss a plan of attack. With their help and ideas, we were able to incorporate all of our treasures throughout the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception and it just flowed perfectly as our guests moved from one event to the next. My personal favorite was their idea to paint all of our birdhouses blue and hang little vintage bird playing cards inside of them with ribbon, along with lots of flowers. To Maya, Donna and the team at Beautiful Blooms – we cannot thank you enough for your creative, over the top, amazingness!
We also had a lot of help from our family and friends, which showed in everything from the programs, the ceremony music, hand painted table markers, sweet little bird nests with ferns from my mother’s garden, wooden table pedestals, down to the microbrew selection. We are lucky to know so many crafters, musicians and brewers! Speaking of music, one of the highlights of the night was when my adorable father surprised me with a song/toast called, “A Song For My Daughter.” Waterworks! Well Spun Weddings turned this into the sweetest video for us to keep forever.

Hi Tait :) You can find the veil at VOWS in Watertown, MA.

Thanks, Lauren! My dad actually made those himself from a tree in the front yard. The tree needed to come down anyway!
You were such a beautiful Bride, Libby! I love you :)
This is just the most beautiful collection of wedding photos ever. So elegant, so relaxed and happy. I think this one wins for the best ever!
Oooh, I love the flower ring at the tree alter.

Such a classic wedding! Beautiful and timeless! I love both of the Mothers dresses could anyone tell me the brand/designer?
What a wonderful day it was! So thankful to have been a part of it all, keep up the creativity-one day I will need some assistance! xoxo much love
Thank you, Laura. The Mother of the Bride wore Mon Cheri Social Occasions Style #110836. The color was "sage". We'll have to check with the mother of the groom for you.
Wow, what a stunning wedding! I've never seen a wreath used as an altar. What a great idea!
Can some one tell me who that bad ass little owl is... SOOOOO CUTE!
Isn't he cute! His name is Samuel Adams and he was injured in a car accident right outside of the Audubon, so they have taken him "under their wing". (Bad joke, I know.) The bones under his one eye were severed so badly that his tear ducts no longer work. They even need to give him artificial tears. Poor little guy...
Beautiful wedding. I love the flowers! Libby - Can you please tell me the brand of your shoes?
Thanks Stacey! They were a last minute find from Macy's and the brand is Alfani.
Congratulations, Libby and Jim - You are an amazing person to work with- and we couldn't be happier for you! Being able to see the entire wedding is a real treat, and I'm floored- it's just beautiful. We were lucky to be part of it!
Beautiful photos! Can you tell me where to purchase the flower girl dresses?
Such a exquisite, charming, splendid wedding! Libby and Jim are a beautiful couple, so tall and classic looking. The flowers, the wood blocks, the handpicked touches are so original. I love the azul! Congratulations again, Libby & Jim!
The flower girl dresses were from Chasing Fireflies (http://www.chasing-fireflies.com/ ) but it looks like that style is no longer available. Plenty of other cute ones though!
I'm completely obsessed with these images! Libby, you two are an exquisite couple. Congrats and here's to wishes of many happy, joy and adventure filled years.
xoxo
Congratulations Libby! You are gorgeous and so was your wedding! Best Wishes!
Libby- Your wedding is gorgeous! I am loving your veil. This may be an odd question, but a) where did you find it and b) are you thinking about selling it? I would be very interested!! It's just what I'm looking for. Thanks and best wishes!
Rachel
What a lovely wedding! Congrats!
Wish I could have been there. You looked gorgeous! Love you!
Hi Rachel! I ordered my veil through VOWS in Watertown, MA and I'm sure they can order you the same one if you email them an image. (http://www.bridepower.com/VisitStore.aspx ) Mine has a few snags in it now...
Hi Libby,
What a beautiful wedding! You did amazing job with all of the vessels, vases, and bird cages - I live in PA and would be interested in them if you had any you would like to part with....
This wedding is lovely, elegant and all around AMAZING. Thank you for sharing! Libby, I really love your earrings. Would you mind sharing where you purchased those? However, I fear (for my sake) that they are gorgeous family heirlooms... Thank you in advance for the info!
Meg! Absolutely - I will send you an email tomorrow.
Rcaris - the earrings were also purchased at Macy's during one of their massive sales and ended up costing less than $100! I no longer have the box that they came in but they might still be available on macys.com. There was also a necklace that went with them.
What a beautiful blog about a beautiful wedding of a beautiful couple!
Congratulations, Libby and Jim. XO
What flowers are in the bouquets? They're divine!
Thanks Beth! Maya from Beautiful Blooms here:) The bridal bouquet is a mix of peonies, veronica, dusty miller and maidenhair fern and the handle is finished with a moss wrap and a lovely vintage cameo pin which Libby provided. The bridesmaids bouquets are made up of thistle, nigella and delphinium and they are finished with vintage hankies which were also found by the bride. They vintage items were such a sweet and personal touch!
Libby- You have an extraordinary way about you! Thank you a million for having me as your Hairstylist! I adore your your pics and while the blue and purple tones bring joy to the eyes! Happy Life to the two of you!!!
I absolutely love all of the sweet details. The colors for my upcoming wedding are also blue and ivory. My favorite is the typewriter with the vintage letters, LOVE! I might have to steal that idea for our Italian, vintage inspired wedding. Congratulations!
Hi Libby,
Do you have any of the bird cages left? I just love them and know they're a bit hard to find. I know someone else was interested in buying them. Just curious to see if there were any more. Thanks!
