DIY Butterfly Rice Tosser by Posh Paperie + Jackie Wonders

The lovely ladies of Posh Paperie, who are always sending us the THE BEST projects, have done it again with one of the cutest DIY tutorials and we are giving them major props for the easy factor combined with a completely adorable aesthetic that could so easily be translated for your big day. Photographed by Jackie Wonders (another one of our favorite gals), these Butterfly Rice Tossers are total perfection. So get on your crafty hats ladies and gents and we’ll let Posh Paperie take it away…

Supplies needed to make these pretty, pretty Rice Tossers:

Butterflies (found at a craft store)
Cardstock: different colors and patterns (thinner works best!)
Photocopy of “Tags”
Hole Punch
Red Tape
Scissors

Directions:

Step 1: Cut 5 x 5 square of cardstock of your choice
Step 2: Tape right corner with small piece of Red Tape
Step 3: Roll to form cone & secure with Red Tape
Step 4: Punch hole at
Step 5: Fill with Rice
Step 6: Write desired phrase several times (approximately 1/2″ apart) on paper and photocopy. Cut into strips and cut bottom edge on an angle.
Step 7: Fold top over and mark (with pen) hole on cone top with desired location for second hole on cone.
Step 8: Connect: Thread butterfly wire through top hole. Line up tag with hole in body of cone. Thread wire through tag and body hole (from the top down).
Step 9: Pass out to guests for a darling “rice tosser”!Butterflies (found at a craft store)

So stinkin cute, right? How perfect would they be sprinkled on chairs at your reception or resting in a pretty basket for guests to pick up before the ceremony? You could even get really creative and use them to hold favors, etc. The possibilities are endless my friends. A huge thank you to Posh Paperie and Jackie Wonders for another fantastic DIY.     Instead of using rice, use bird seed. Rice reportedly rehydrates in the little birds tummies and they explode. This is, of course, bad for birds. The use of the bird seed is considered more environmentally friendly.
