Washington Wine Country Wedding

September 8th. 2010 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 20 comments

I’ve been staring at this next wedding for the last hour and something about it just kind of takes my breath away. It’s this perfect combination of backyard effortlessness and total elegance. A combo that isn’t that easy to pull off this beautifully. I think that it’s probably the insanely gorgeous flowers that has taken this design to an entirely new level…but the perfectly gorgeous bride in her perfectly gorgeous gown, the wedding cake that I want to magically appear at my front doorstep so I can devour every inch of it and the adorable touches like the customized Mad Libs games don’t hurt either! And don’t even get me started on the photographs that Ali Walker snapped. Beyond. To see the full affair, make sure to click right here!

Katie and Ben’s outdoor, vintage-inspired wedding took place in Walla Walla–the heart of Washington Wine Country. The vintage-inspired decor included incredible signage, a cookie bar, and the most amazing flowers (including peonies, which Katie was worried wouldn’t be available in July). The rich plum, pinks, greens, and yellow floral elements came together beautifully with Katie’s DIY, vintage touches. This sweet couple crafted a beautiful party for celebrating their union with their family and friends.

Amber, I think the bridesmaids' dresses were from J.Crew, but I'll double-check to be sure.

Yes, the bridesmaid dresses are from J.Crew. The color is "spiced wine." (This is my sister's wedding--that's me up there being the M o' H!) Thanks so much for your kind words on the blog and for Ali's gorgeous photography. Katie did such a great job planning an elegant and comfortable evening for everyone. Everything was beautiful about that day, especially my sister!

Thanks so much for all of the wonderful comments!

Our cake was from Phil and Sally's Bakery in Milton-Freewater, Oregon. They also did all of the cookies. They are amazing, and everything they made was as delicious as it looks.

My dress was made by Jasmine (Style F274). I bought it off the rack 6 weeks before the wedding.

All of the signs (programs, MadLibs, Cookie Bags, etc.) were designed by my brother and sister. I wrote the MadLib for the back of half of the programs and there were anagrams on the other half. The MadLib was the story of how Ben and I met (on a blind date).

Ben and I had the best day, and the best part was all of the wonderful people who made it possible and came to celebrate with us.

  15. Lauren says:

I recently tried on this exact dress and I'm going to have to go back for a second look after seeing this gorgeous bride wearing it!
