Instead of trying to top this morning’s gorgeous Canadian affair, we thought we would change gears and share a completely swoon worthy bridal shower sent to us by Lani Elizabeth, the floral and event designers responsible for all this pretty. The bride-to-be met her future husband while abroad in Australia so naturally, the gals behind Lani Elizabeth wanted to incorporate a vintage Australia theme for the shower, complete with boomerangs and yummy Australian wine. All of the fun details were captured by Blaine Photography and each and every picture boasts insanely creative styling filled with TONS of inspiration even if you aren’t marrying an Australian lad. You can catch more from the shower and its fabulous Aussie style in the gallery.

From Lani Elizabeth:
As floral designers, getting to design and implement a shower for a dear friend was a ball! Elizabeth has been friends with Katherine, the bride-to-be, for nearly 20 years, so naturally we went all out! Katherine met her fiance abroad in Australia, so we knew we had to do something that incorporated an Aussie travel theme. We have a vast collection of vintage suitcases, so that was fun to bring out, as well as some of our more interesting green glass vessels for a display of tropical and subtropical blooms one might find in Australia. We selected a gorgeous knobby burlap colored linen for the tables, which added to the Aussie feel.
After scouring the fabric stores, we amassed quite a stack of retro inspired prints to create kookaburras and other birds in flight that were hung all over the space. In addition, we sewed dozens of fabric pouches to hold the favors, which were “Tim Tams,” a popular Australian cookie. As a final touch, we dug up an old Atlas from the 50s that we used to cut out a flock of birds that we carefully shaped and secured to the main wall to seemingly fly across the venue.
Working closely with Blaine Design Group, we designed a custom invitation that suited the event perfectly. Elizabeth sketched the Sydney skyline for the invite with the Opera House as a prominent focal point, as that is where the couple met for the first time, and the registry information was secured on a tag to the invite with retro inspired twine-like string.
Katherine looked just stunning in her 60s inspired vibrant turquoise dress, which complimented the exotic and colorful decor just perfectly. After enjoying some Australian beer, wine, and soda, we had a few laughs with our Aussie slang quiz and gobbled up the delectable homemade Pavlova and Lamingtons, two of the most famous Australian desserts. At the end of the day, all the wonderful women in attendance truly felt as though they had experienced a bit of “Down Under!”

What a fun shower! I love those paper birds flying up the wall.... very inspiring and the floral arrangements are beautiful! .... and that jar of vegemite.... mmmmm.. makes me want to go make a piece of toast:)
All the details are perfect, they thought of everything!
I tell you what, that jar of vegemite made ME swoon!!! Awesome job guys!!!
Aussie slang, Tim Tams and a footie, this party is everything I loved about living in Australia and makes me want to go back right this minute! (Never mind that my wedding is weekend after next. Whatevs.)
@Suzanne: Vegemite made you *swoon*? Ever tasted the stuff?! It would make you "swoon" in a much less pleasant way. Unless you're Aussie. The you inexplicably love the stuff.
I'm Australian and vegemite is the best! ;) The Dutch love it to I believe, but they have Marmite.
Anyhoo, love the nod to Australiana although there was not a gum leaf or koala in sight! LOL!
This is really cute!
Great Theme! I love that they played the theme off of where the couple met. The little favor bags with hang tags and buttons are adorable.
Such a cool idea. We're always encouraging our couples to have a shower that is reflective of their registry. I can SO see this being perfect for someone with an Australia honeymoon registry. G'day!
This had my heart skip a beat! Absolutely stunning!!
I met my boyfriend in Australia three years ago. Sun and wine, miss Australia so much. The pictures are really amazing.
Beautiful wedding!!
Does anybody know what the flowers above the ribbon bouquet are? They're so unique!
I'm an Aussie and I think it all looks great. It's been done in a very classy way. The photos make it all look really retro and I guess that's what the bride-to-be was going for with her lovely dress for the day. @ Shayna, you're right, I grew up with Vegemite and can't go without it but it is an acquired taste, that's for sure. I lived in London for nearly 4 years and was lucky enough to find it over there! Workmates couldn't understand my need for it though... I'd be interested to know what the wedding theme is going to be for this bride and groom. Something fun but classy I bet...

Alex: The flowers you mention are scabiosa and poppy pods (in focus), and succulents (in the background). They are fun!
Beautiful shots you have here! I love the subdued atmosphere!
