From Inspiration to Reality: The Design

This could quite possibly be our most favorite From Inspiration to Reality shoot of all time. I know we say that a lot but does it get any better than beach done so very right? The color palette? Beyond. The perfectly edited and not over done details? Spot on. The dreamy light? Perfection. Photographed by Millie, Rachel and Rebecca of Millie Holloman Photography, with design and styling by Jennifer Rose-Sandy of Salt Harbor Designs, this is going to blow your mind with oodles of seaside goodness. Can’t wait? Take a look at the full gallery – we won’t tell anyone you cheated.

From Jennifer Rose-Sandy of Salt Harbor Designs:

For event vendors who are located near the ocean, the beach can be both a wonderful blessing and a terrible curse. We are all so sick of starfish and sand dollars that we hope to never see them again, and we cringe when someone says “beach-themed” reception. For a long time, I have tried desperately to resist the beach and the ocean in my designs. Yet, I do truly love the sea and all that surrounds it, and it is, in fact, what originally brought me to Wilmington to begin with. So I decided with this inspiration shoot to return home and embrace the place in which I live and work.

Don’t go anywhere. We have so much more to share and you won’t want to miss a single detail. It’s THAT good.

This post makes me REALLY want to go to the beach and get married all over again. I love the message in a bottle idea and everything is just so sweet and beautiful. Seriously, well done!

  2. Andrea says:

I LOVE the pillow fabric with the blue rings. Does anyone know what the pattern name?? Beautiful!!

  3. Kathollander says:

lovely! what a beautiful design :)

  4. Jen says:

This is a beautiful post, however I am not thrilled with the whole "Message in a Bottle" theme as I'm a bit concerned about it's lack of environmental consideration. The thought is very romantic, but the reality is not so much.

  5. This is soooo my style, from the beachy-chic tablesetting to the color palette of blues & sand...Perfectly romantic for a seaside wedding.

  6. Kate Rhodes says:

Stunning...... Who is the dress by?

  7. this is perfectly beautiful.

  8. Trish says:

Love the design! Not so sure about they "Hey, everyone throw garbage in the ocean" idea, though.

  9. This is unbelievably gorgeous!! And Naomi's board was fabulous inspiration :)

  10. Elvi says:

I agree with Carter and Cook Events CO. Perfectly beautiful.

  11. Naomi says:

This is insanely gorgeousl!!! That board was done because I love living near the water so much! I'm so happy and so honored. I love what the designer did. It is not too over the top and Abby's right not one starfish in sight. I cannot wait to see the other details. Thank you for choosing this board. These vendors are freakin' AMAZING!!!!! XOXOXO Thank you for making my Friday FANTASTIC!

  12. I totally agree, I am a coastal wedding photographer and this is such a beautiful approach to a beach "themed" wedding and Millie did a fabulous job!!

  13. Connie says:

Beautiful photography! love the framing, the mood and the use of light!

  14. Elle says:

Breathtaking. In regards to the "environmental concerns": it's a few bottles, not an oil spill. Let's be realistic here.

  15. Kim Box says:

Millie, you did a fabulous job! As always!

  16. leilanika says:

    gorgeous!!!!!

  17. Trish says:

I'm sorry, Elle, but that's like "Oh, it's ok if I poach a few elephants, as long as EVERYONE doesn't do it." Litter is litter, it's cumulative. And yeah, it's one thing if it's just the couple, but if you've got 200 guests chucking bottles into the sea...

  18. Ali says:

Absolutely gorgeous! I would love to know where the china is from?? I'm looking for something similar to put on my registry!!

  19. Molly says:

How are models chosen for these inspiration to reality shoots?

  20. Katy Melling says:

Absolutely beautiful, it makes me want to cancel my wedding venue andhave a reception on the beach. Amazing photography!

  21. Sarah says:

Ummm, if my husband and I ever do an vow renewal, we would definitely want to do something just like this!! GAHHH! It's so GORGEOUS!! Serioulsy. Just hire the whole team and do it over again. COMPLETELY INSPIRED. What beach was this?

  22. Ify Oti says:

This is amazing. I love everything...the colour palette, settings, photo shots...all amazing! Well done Jen...the shots are truly inspirational, I love every single one of them. Millie and her team did a terrific job. Wow!

  23. Emmy says:

    So(!) talanted pictures!!

  24. Lori says:

Beautiful cake by Flower & Flour -elegant

  25. Jana Morgan says:

I LOVE the message in the bottle idea! If I were to use it in a wedding, I wouldn't literally throw them into the ocean, but have guests slip notes into bottles at a table instead of signing a guest book. After the wedding you can take them home and read them later, or use them as decorations around your home for fun! Love it love it love it!!!

  26. STUNNING! I'm a sucker for anything nautical or beachy, but this takes the cake! (No pun intended). Great job!
