Good morning wedding warriors (I stole that line from Erin…cute, right)! We’re kicking off the day with an adorably laid back backyard garden reception photographed by the lovely and talented Erin Samuell of A Simple Photograph. Sometimes, it’s those sweet, unfussy wedding receptions that really get me excited…where the bride and groom are MADLY in love and they build a day that celebrates that simple notion. And weddings like that really don’t get any better than this one, where you can literally feel that somethin-somethin behind every photograph. Click here to see the full gallery.

From Erin at A Simple Photograph…
Kevin and Katie were married on July 31st 2010. They had one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever been to. They took a traditional backyard garden wedding reception and flipped it on it’s head! Well the order of it anyway!!
The day began with a secret private wedding ceremony, well not so secret anymore since I’m spilling the beans (with Katie’s permission of course!)! They wanted to keep the ceremony private and special so they held a very intimate ceremony with only their parents present several hours before any of the festivities began. It was the most wonderful “first look” I’ve ever seen and with the stress of actually getting married over, they were able to relax and completely enjoy their day! We casually carried on from there into photos and then back to Katie’s parent’s backyard, where they personally greeted each guest at a lemonade reception. We sat down to dine and hear a few speeches and after desert the entire party got up and proceeded in a processional to a lake front property where Katie and Kevin held their beautiful and not so secret ceremony over looking Lake Huron! We celebrated with sparklers and champagne. Then back to the tent for a very late night of festivities and dancing to the band, The Full Nelsons. It was such a wonderful event, and so much fun and Katie and Kevin surprised us all with a late night jump in the pool!!

Gorgeous wedding! Love the simplicity.
The personalization in the table settings with names of guests is exactly what we mean by perfect details.. this wedding is spectacular..thanks for sharing!
Those pickup line tags are such a great idea! Adds to a very cute place setting :)
I am floored! Love their idea to switch up the ceremony/reception order!
Love that first shop... but was awe struck by the photo bunting in the tent.
oh my god holy wow! so many beautiful details - those silverware ties! the cute pick up lines! and i LOVE that shot of the bride walking down the street holding up her dress shoes in hand - that is a bride on a mission to get married! what a wonderful wedding - congrats to the couple!
Katie, someone has asked about where the guys got their suits, can you post that here!! And thank you for including me in such a beautiful event!
Looks like a very fun party... while I'm not a big fan of private ceremonies - only because (for me) the ceremony is so moving and personal and my fave part of a wedding - it sounds as though this couple included everyone for the festivities after. Beautiful wedding gown, too!
A gorgeous wedding with each special moment captured perfectly by a great photographer. Erin, it's beautiful!!
What are the strips of fabric for the guest book? I was thinking of doing quilt squares but that looks much simpler - what were they planning of doing with them after? Thanks!
Hi jlc,
Katie's mother is planning to sew those strips of fabric into a quilt after the wedding. I will try to get a photo of the finished product and post it on my blog when it's finished
With a good cup of tea, sit down and get inspiration from beautiful weddings like this - got a kick out of the 'wedding warriors' as that is the name of my business in Texas.
anyone know where the groomsmen's suits and the bridesmaids dresses came from?
The groomsmen's suits came from Moores
It's so simple but so elegant and beautiful! I love the concept of yours!
she is great inspiration for short-haired brides! gorgeous!
My sister is getting married and she loves the bride's wedding dress! Where did she get it?
