Good morning. We come baring gifts of the wedding kind. If you are in the mood for a floral extravaganza, you have come to the right place. This is a serious swoonfest and that’s not all this wedding is toting – the food is pretty drool-worthy as well. I don’t think it gets much better than pizza and tacos.  Sara Remington of Anna Kuperberg Photography, snapped all the pretty pictures and Rebecca Feeney worked her design magic to create this gorgeous fete. Feast your eyes on their latest installment of wedding goodness straight from Napa Valley and catch the full wedding in the gallery.

Jonathan and I met while working for the same company in San Diego, and we ended up co-managing the largest running store in the US together. Jonathan proposed on Valentine’s Day (it is my least favorite holiday, so I was not expecting it!)  We went for on the beach in San Diego and after we finished Jon got down on one knee and pulled the ring out of his running shorts! When we started to think about the big day we both knew that we wanted it to reflect our laidback, fun-loving personalities, and our passion for running which brought us together.  After a recent trip to Napa we decided that Napa embodied casual elegance we were searching for and we absolutely fell in love with a winery that has been in my family for many years, Silver Oak.  Jon is from Rochester, NY and I am from Oklahoma City, OK and with friends and family from all over the country we thought a destination wedding made sense.

The next step would be hiring a wedding planner and after interviewing a few, Rebecca Feeney of Custom Event Group stole the show with her fantastic ideas and impeccable ability to translate the style that we were seeking. She brought the entire day together, and was the inspiration behind each beautiful element.  I would highly recommend her to any bride for her ability to translate my vision and her wonderful ideas!

The flowers were done by Kathy Hoffman.  I could tell after talking to her just a few times and sending some pictures that she really understood my vision.  In fact, the flowers were more beautiful than I could have ever imagined and the simple vases and natural table clothes allowed the flowers to make a statement in a very natural way.  It was simply breathtaking!

At the reception 2 vintages of Silver Oak cabernet were served, a Pinot Noir and a Sauvingon Blanc from Silver Oak’s sister winery Twomey.  We had 3 food stations.  Two of the stations were done by Sage catering, and we used Silver Oak’s pizza oven as one station.  Pizza is a big part of Jon’s Italian heritage, and also Jon’s favorite food!  We also featured Grampy’s Sundae Bar by Three Twins ice cream as a tribute to my late grandfather, Grampy, who would eat an ice cream sundae with almost every meal!

I really like the idea of having gourmet pizza and ice cream at my wedding but I'm having a hard time convincing my fiancee. This would include salad and breadsticks. His main issue is that you typically don't eat it with a fork and he still wants it to be considered fancy dinner. This turned out great in my opinion but do you all have any thoughts?

  8. September Bride says:

Please please PLEASE tell me more about the sash. Did you bring a piece of ribbon you like to them?

  9. Burke says:

Gia and Allison Q: The bridesmaids dresses were the first thing that I picked out from J. Crew, it is the Whitney gown in graphite color.

The gown: I always thought I wanted a very "different" "cutting edge" gown but as I was searching it was the simple gowns that complemented my great great grandmothers train. It has been worn by every generation of women in my family. I was the first to wear it from my head. The Rivini dress came with a different sash, but my consultant Becky at Stanley Korshak had the idea of lifting some flowers that were on my mom's dress from my great grandmothers dress and sewing them to a custom sash so that it matched the train. It made the dress one-of-a-kind and unforgettable! They used a piece of ribbon they had a Stanley Korshak, but if we could not find one to match they had a whole list of places to send us to find the right ribbon, we just lucked out.

  22. Carla says:

did you serve the stations at your reception or was it during your appetizers? I love the idea of a twist on modern gourmet food choices.... Just curious how it went over with guests. If you ddint server at your reception what did you serve?

do you havea picture of your menue?

  23. bella27 says:

I love this wedding! Just curious...did you serve the stations at your reception? If so, how did it work, people brought back multiple plates? I just love the idea and want to make it work myself. If you used it for apps what did you serve at your reception? I am on a budget and think I can execute the stations inexpensive...if they worked at your reception. Looking forward to your feedback!

Do you have a picture of your menu?

  24. Michelle says:

I am also digging the chalkboards! Can you point me in the write direction? (pun intended)

  26. Gayle says:

Swoonfest indeed! Anything involving wineries, pizza and a dose of classiness gets an A+ in my book!

  27. Burke says:

Thanks so much for all the comments, it is so fun to re-live the day! Custom Event Group had the chalkboard, but if you google "Chalkboard Easel" many different options come up to buy the chalkboards.
The guests loved to the gourmet comfort food stations. We did passed tiny pulled pork sliders and barbequed shrimp appetizers during cocktail hour. At the stations there were servers plating each station on tiny tapa-like plates. They plates were cute, each station had a different shape. People would usually take the plate back to their seat, eat and then go get a new plate from next station. We did not do assigned seating, except head table, but we did have a seat for every person. It worked really well, kept people mingling, the stations did not get too crowded and people loved sampling it all. I apologize we do not have pic of the menu, the only place the menu was displayed was on the chalkboards..

My cousin did my hair, and Toni Rigdon did my hair out of St. Helena. She was fabulous! Very natural.

I did not worry about getting my dress dirty after the ceremony. It will happen at outdoor venue. In fact someone spilled red wine down the front of it later in the night, but the cleaners got it out! Hopefully you will only wear it once :)

  28. Burke says:

Sorry Toni Rigdon out of St. Helena did my make-up

  29. Carla says:

    thanks!!!

  30. Lindsey says:

Every aspect of your wedding is just gorgeous! I especially LOVE your dress ... what style of Rivini is it as I cannot find it on the designer's website and I am just dying to know! And congratulations again!

  31. Burke says:

The Rivini Dress style was "Armane" for all those interested :)
