Even though most of our weddings happen stateside, SMP actually has a pretty big Australian following. So when we spotted this perfect Aussie affair, we knew we had to put it up. It’s jam packed with charm, with girly goodness, with details that are as sweet as they are swoonable. Sent to us by the bride herself, this wedding is about as good as it gets. We really wanted to get out of the city (Sydney) for our wedding weekend and as we often holiday and camp in the south coast area we decided it would be the perfect place for a wedding getaway for us and our friends and family. We also thought it would be a lovely Australian experience for our overseas guests (Tim is from the UK). As soon as we arrived at Terrara House we fell in love, it was the perfect “country garden” style venue we were after. Gorgeous gardens and a relaxed atmosphere, which needed very little extra in terms of adornments. It also happened to fit (just!) within our very strict budget!
We were married under an enormous Moreton Bay Fig tree, which became a sort of motif for the day. In fact, in addition to designing and making my wedding dress, two bridesmaids dresses and all of our headpieces, my mother also cooked and jarred 90 jars of fig conserve for guests to take home. They were wrapped in vintage floral handkerchiefs, one of the many DIY elements of the day. Being a graphic designer, I had a hand in almost every detail… from the invites, to the menus, to the conserve labels. It was the hardest I’ve worked in my life!
On the subject of the dress, my Mum is a certified genius. She constructed the everything bodice from scratch, hand embroidering and appliqueing every detail. I feel so grateful that she came out of retirement to create the gown of my dreams. Suffice to say she is my absolute hero!
Guests drank raspberry daiquiris and ate from shared platters placed in the centre of each table. It was so important to me that the food was amazing and I was not disappointed. It’s one of the first things people commented on after the wedding. Well, that and the daiquiris! They were quite a hit on a hot Australian Summers day!

I can't get over the detail on the dress! It is absolutely stunning!!
That dress is INCREDIBLE!!! What an amazing talent the bride's mother has! A true labor of love, that dress is!
I agree, the dress is stunning and the details with the hankerchiefs & fans is my fav!
where are the hankerchiefs from?
Beautiful wedding! Love the floral bridesmaids dresses!
I love the photo on the steps...beautiful!
Where did you get the fans???? I love them!
I love the fresh feeling of this wedding: lots of foliage and organic detailing! I especially love the tent at night...so romantic!
Beautiful! Seconding request to know where the fans are from.
Okay, so this is beyond gorgeous. I absolutely LOVE the shot of the bride and groom sitting on the stairs. The colors are so soft!
So loving the color scheme specifically that the groom's suit is not the trad black or white!!!
Beautiful details! Where did you get your hair piece? Love it!
Where did you find those great fans???????
What a gorgeous wedding!! We want to get married on the Sth Coast too, and yep, you have a lot of Aussie readers!! I certainly know of a fair few :)
Also love the Fans! Such a great detail on the handle!!!
Yay, another Aussie wedding! I absolutely agree with all the other girls who have swooned over the bride's stunning dress, and those BM dresses are so lovely :)
Thank you for all your lovely comments – I'm so excited to be on SMP! Having religiously read this site every day for over a year, this is a fantastic way to round out the entire wedding experience!
To answer your questions – my headpiece (and those of the bridesmaids) were made my my amazing mum.
As for the fans – I actually bought them online from Hong Kong – but they have since sold out (they also only sent half my order, so I would be reluctant to recommend them either way!!). However, I have seen them elsewhere, like here: http://www.pinkfrosting.com.au/shop/item/paper-paddle-fan---white – but at four times the price, which is a shame.
All the hankies - lace and floral – were bought off ebay from various sellers, for an absolute steal!
Again, thanks for all the great feedback, happy to answer any other Qs you might have
