We go bananas for the From Inspiration to Reality Features around here because for one they always bring insane amounts of gorgeous and two, they are handcrafted from some of the most talented vendors we know. A match made in Style Me Pretty heaven. What’s not to love? Put together by Kristen Sekowski of Yellow Canary Event Design along with JMM Photography and paper goods by Amo Ink, this shoot is one of the most adorable to date. It resides in a little spot where ice cream and glamour go hand in hand and the inspiration is a flowin.

The overall look and feel we were going for our Inspiration to Reality feature was one with a vintage feel with a modern look. From the table and floral design by yellow canary, to the location inspired stationery by Amo Ink we wanted to work with the color and boldness of the Mint Chocolate Chip Inspiration Board. Jacalyn, our photographer approached the shoot with her artistic eye gave an overall amazing vintage feel to the photos. The beautiful gowns and suit worn by our lovely models have an element of timelessness to them—while fashionable now, they will continue to be so for years to come. The location provided some historical and style inspiration as well to pull it all together in a fun and hopefully inspiring way.
From Yellow Canary – As a designer I am inspired by many things—color, texture, concept, and location. The Inspiration Board we decided on stood out to me for various reasons—first of all how can you not love a board called Mint Chocolate Chip?! The dreamy green color with the high contrast of the black and white really stood out. It was simple and striking—there were a lot of layers to it as well, soft and luscious with various shades of green, ribbon, fabric, dots, stripes, and lots of bows. The Red Hots, while not a huge part of the collage, added a bit of color interest too. To me it screamed summer fresh and was full of vintage-modern loveliness.
While talking about the colors and what we wanted to do with the board, I immediately thought of one of my all time favorite Cincinnati landmarks, Union Terminal (which is now the Cincinnati Museum Center). What thrilled me about doing the shoot here was the color—the green interior of the fountain and the green Rookwood tiles in the ice cream parlor—it seemed a perfect location.
