Elaine owns a clothing store on Abbot Kinney Blvd in Venice & has always had fascination the romantic era in the 19 teens where people would go on long vacations on big luxury ocean liners like the Titanic.  She pulled this era for inspiration.  She wanted each part of the wedding to be a different level on a luxury liner. Elaine created passports for the invites for guests. For the first part of the wedding, the ceremony, Elaine wanted it to be like the guests were embarking on the ship there were vintage trunks holding gifts and programs. There were also props like flags that you would on the balcony of a boat & a lifesaver which Jose Villa captured some great shots. The cocktail hour was supposed to be the 2nd class bar area.  We had a pinup style cigarette girl handing out candy cigarettes, old magazines scattered around, strolling of trio of musicians. For dinner it was a luxurious captains dinner theme.  Very formal sit down dinner, & big band music

As an aspiring jeweler I follow your blog for design inspiration... And it kills me that jewelers are so rarely credited--even when pictures of jewelry are featured. Perhaps something to think about

  14. Future Mrs. thomas says:

Who is the designer of the engagement ring

  15. Jess says:

I am also wondering where this incredible engagement ring is from? So gorgeous, want to show my boyfriend!

  16. Jessica says:

I love this ring and have sent two emails to Elaine at her shop in California to ask about the ring but both emails bounced back!

  17. Elaine Sachs says:

WOW! I finally got the email from Jessica and did not even realize that our wedding was featured on this site. What an honor! Thank you so much for the compliments. I really did have the BEST team and anyone who is looking for a wedding planner, needs not to look further as Jill La Fleur is THE best that any bride can have. We had sooooo much fun putting this wedding together and every time I see all the moments that our photographer Jose Villa had captured, it makes me want to get married all over again and again.

My engagement ring was designed by a husband and wife team based out of Soho, New York City (where we met and living at the time). They do absolute INCREDIBLE designs and amazing micro pave work. Their names are Douglas and Marisa Perry www.marisaperry.com My husband Heath worked with Douglas for several hours to come up with this ring and surprised me on the ocean sands of Dana Point. It is the perfect blend of both our tastes, modern and vintage.

I hope this inspires all of you brides out there to create your wedding exactly how you want it to be. My advice: Have fun with it, go with what you first love, and take it all in. xoxooxoxoxoxxo
