OK ~ so this week we’ve been focusing on bright and boldly color-filled weddings from our Little Black Book members. But, with eight or nine months to go before the next winter weddings hit the scene, we thought it would be a good idea to shift gears just a bit and share some of the gorgeous winter weddings that are in our submissions boxes! I know that we’re always saying how much we love the weddings that we feature, but we really REALLY love this one!

Kirstie at Orange Girl Photographs did an awesome job of capturing the special moments of Mel and Dylan’s winter wedding!

Mel and Dylan started off the year with a winter wedding in the heart of the Rocky Mountains of Canada in what is known as the “castle in the mountains” the Fairmont Banff Springs in Banff, Alberta, Canada. Their ceremony and reception took place in Mount Stephen Hall and was decorated with touches of gold, red and champagne in keeping with a holiday winter wedding. The ceremony began with a “warming of the rings” ~ where they passed their rings throughout their guests to give them good wishes for the couple.

Mel’s bouquet had a piece of pink ribbon wrapped around it that was used on her grandmother’s bouquet 50 years ago.

All of the groomsmen’s cufflinks were handmade by the couple, each groomsman receiving their personalized initials in Scrabble tiles.

Table numbers were handmade from wood and the centerpieces were created by filling glass vases with nature elements like pine cones and red glittering ornaments.

The cocktail hour included a vintage themed photo booth which the guests obviously loved, judging by the laughter and line up.

At the end of the evening as Kevin and I went to leave, Mel and Dylan brought us up to their room to surprise us with a set of handmade sock monkeys that featured me in an orange dress and my husband’s sock monkey twin carrying a tiny camera bag complete with reflector, film and a mini camera! I was really moved by the sweetness of Mel and Dylan. It was a wedding that I feel incredibly lucky to have documented.

If you love Kirstie’s work as much as we do, go spend a little time looking through her portfolio on her website. You’ll see why her couples give her such rave reviews!
However … the fun doesn’t stop here! We happened to get our hands on Mel & Dylan’s wedding film from Confetti Wedding Films. Their heartfelt vows will surely bring a sniffle to even the most stoic-hearted …

Love this! Thanks for posting this, Eddye!
Love it!!! So much so that I sent it to my fiance and he loves it too! Banff is our FAVORITE place in the world and we stayed there for our 1 year first date anniversary. The wedding was beautiful, and I love the video... oh and then the scenery photos... YUM!
DIY photo booths and mustaches. too fun!
The shots with the picture frames are too cute.. I'll be suggesting that to one of my clients!
This is one of the most beautiful brides and weddings I've seen on SMP! Gorgeous!
Hi Mel! It's beautiful. Just perfect! And the video is amazing! Whats the name of the song in the video? Love the song!
Everything is soo lovely! Any chance the bride might share where she bought her lace shrug/bolero from? The shot with it hanging with the pearls (on the "Mrs." hanger, no less!) is just perfection :)!
I LOVE that photo frame! Where did you get it?
San Diego Wedding photographer, I purchased the frame from IKEA of all places. I love the look of it and it's very light and hardy.
cute couple! love their style.
Sorry this reply is so late! Thanks so much for the compliments! And cara- the bolero is Mikaella (ordered from a bridal store)
