This next photo shoot is somewhat of a departure from the classic Alice in Wonderland but the details and styling are BEYOND gorgeous. Blondes may have more fun but brunettes know how to rock a moody tea party. With Tim Burton’s dark and twisty take on Alice as inspiration, Kate Miller Events incorporated lovely jewel tones and rustic detailing into their interpretation of Alice getting married. The result captured by Sarah Maren is nothing short of STUNNING. {Click here for even more images in the gallery}

The story of Alice in Wonderland has been a favorite of mine since childhood – so of course, when the new movie hit the theaters, I was beyond inspired. Having been a fan of Salvador Dali’s more dark and twisted take on the story, I loved the rich color palette and slightly devious delivery that Tim Burton imbued within the set. More specifically, I was inspired by deep purples, rich moss greens, pale lavenders, rusty orange and that pop of classic Alice baby blue used in the photos depicting Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter.
We approached this shoot as an opportunity to incorporate fun subtleties of the storyline into a rich, rustic backdrop. The chair tie, place card, drink/eat me sign and menu Luxecuts™ in dark shiny plastic lend an edge to the woodsy flowers and hand-painted mushrooms. The juxtaposition of the large wood farm table and the gold accents in the Chivari chairs, gold-rimmed black spoke chargers, flatware and teapots created an air of elegance against the tree-lined path. Floral china teacups brought back a hint of the classic Alice tale, as some were filled with the same pansies known to sing in Disney’s version.
Playing to the recent trend of black and white in wedding fashion and black lace tights in everyday fashion, we fused the two with a lovely lace dress accented by a tulle sash and large rhinestone rose pin. Various black and white fascinators were fun to play with – but the best accessory was a tribute to the infamous white rabbit himself, showcasing a mink colored bunny (Mrs. Whiskers) paired with a gorgeous gold pocketwatch necklace. Finally, a frothy-tulle concoction blended beautifully into the wildflowers, topped with a velvet blue bow.
Our model, Alison (how appropriate, yes?) held a bridal bouquet containing a collection of rhinestone brooches, peach garden roses, dusty miller and lavender roses, finished off with a selection of teapot and clock charms. She snacked on our lovely dessert table filled with treats listed on a large Luxecuts™ menu – Tweedle Mallows, White Rose Truffles, Royal Suit Linzer Cookies, Down The Rabbit Hole Cupcakes, and Three of Hearts Chocolate Pretzels filled the table along with other various treats in our color palette.
I cannot even begin to tell you how wonderful it was working with every single one of the vendors on the Alice team! The talent, the fun attitude, and the appreciation for the artful event industry really shines through in this project and I feel so grateful to have been a part of it!

Just lovely!! I love all of the details and the post processing!! The little bow and the little hat are just precious!!! *sigh* Such beautiful work.....
wow, SO pretty. I love the moodiness! in actuality it's probably closer to Lewis Carroll's intentions.
and that bouquet is stunning!
okay, this is way too cute! love this spin on alice! and that bouquet? gorgeous!!
Beautiful! I adore the Drink Me vases and the jeweled bouquet. I love that the colors are just dark enough to be moody, yet bright.
Kate was a JOY to work with... so, so organized and this was SUCH a fun project. I have to say, my favorites of all of the desserts were probably the Down The Rabbit Hole Cupcakes... I was just really happy with how they turned out.
Can you give us a hint where the turquoise hat/veil came from? That is EXACTLY what I have been looking for and have thus far come up empty handed!
Lovely shoot. My fave of the Alice ones so far. Especially due to the bunny.
I MUST know where the short dress can be purchased! Perfect for a daytime affair. The aesthetic is amazing.
just noticed that the rabbit was real! wow...lovin it!
I'm so, so, flattered to have our shoot be included on such a fabulous blog!
Rachel E.: The Hat was a personal item of the Model Alison. I think she mentioned that she picked it up at Urban Outfitters.
Patti: The short dress can be found at Bella Donna Bridal Salon in Sacramento.
Thank you so much for having our shoot featured on your blog! SMP LOVES SMP! It's an honor to be here.
@Patti - Funny story... the wedding I shot a week after this shoot (morning outdoor intimate affair) had the same dress just minus the sash. I'm pretty sure it's a Melissa Sweet dress.
love that bouquet!
I ADORE the long wedding dress!! Who is the designer??
This is my favorite out of the Alice shoots as well...I love the colors, the boutquet and the photography!
I am not an Alice In Wonderland fan but this shoot is amaqzing!!! The photography is sick! The lighting is amazing and blondes may have more fun but brunettes know how to get the job done! I love this shoot.
Yowza! What a fun piece of inspiration!!
I LOVE this group of vendors, and am happy to be able to say, hey these are my peeps in Sacramento.

A bit dark and moody, but very inspirational. The bouquet looks stunning with all the rhinestone brooches. The entire session is so beautiful, i keep looking through pictures over and over and noticing all the little stunning details.
@kate @rachel -- yep, i found it at urban! it was on super-sale awhile back, so i doubt they have that particular one anymore, but i'd definitely check them out for other, equally fab hats.
@laura i think kate got the stockings from target. they often have a plethora of fun stockings, in any case!
glad to see how well this all came together! it was a super-fun shoot and everyone was lovely to work with!
@LB: The dress is a Pronovias 2010 Collection. It's called Madrigal. It's beautiful!!!!!

My favorite Alice shoot by far and one of my fave shoots of all time. LOVE!
I love, love, love the short dress, but I'm on the east coast, so getting to Sacramento would be hard. Do you know who the designer is?
