Interior Design Inspired Photoshoot

March 25th. 2010 by Erin | Filed Under | 28 comments

Once upon a time, I was an Interior Designer. This was, of course, before I discovered the lure of weddings. Lucky for me, these two worlds share many similarities and this photo shoot is the perfect example. Summer Watkins of Grey Likes Weddings teamed up with T & H Photography to create a table-scape based on the interior styling of Eddie Ross and the end product is whimsical and fantabulous with color bursting from every little seam. Check out the room that inspired this shoot then sit back and relax because there is lots and lots of inspiration headed your way. Still can’t get enough? Click here for the full gallery of images.

More from Summer:

When looking for wedding inspiration, brides often limit themselves to what’s already been done in weddings. As a stylist, I’m always looking for inspiration from any source imaginable, and encourage brides to do the same. If they want to stretch a little, and particularly if they are looking for something fresh and new, what better place to look than interior design? I’m completely in love with the work of stylist Eddie Ross! He’s a master at mixing and matching pattern, color and genres in such a way that is whimsical, enchanting, and unexpected, yet still cohesive. I decided to take on the challenge of transforming interior design into a wedding!

The rich hot pink color is to die for, but it’s subdued by the formality of the cobalt blue vases and plates. The gold is at once modern AND vintage. We threw antherium into the flowers because NO ONE uses them right now, but they are so fun and again, unexpected. The rich depth of color turned out so beautifully. I just couldn’t tear myself away! In fact, I’ve decided to keep the hot pink on my chairs!

One of my favorite vintage pieces we incorporated into the shoot was a vintage silk scarf that was wrapped around the bouquet and tied just like Grace Kelly might have tied her silk scarf around her neck. What a lovely way to incorporate perhaps your grandmother’s heirloom into your wedding. We got lucky and found a scarf that looks exactly like the wallpaper in Eddie’s design!

We also liked the idea of making a great belt for the bride out of the zebra pattern. We didn’t want anything too crazy, but just a little something fun for a great pop. We made the flower for the belt and the boutonniere from the orange fabric leftover from our invites! The flowers were made with hot glue by simply starting from the center; bunching the fabric and gluing in concentric circles!
