February 15th. 2010 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 61 comments

For those of you that don’t already know about Grapevine…I’m here to shed some really pretty light. Karen Bartolomei, the talent behind the brand, is one of THE best designers that I’ve ever met, with an incredible sense of style that is completely unique to this industry. Her invitations are kind of beloved by some of the world’s most well known event designers and it’s easy to see why. Every wedding invitation, every save the date, every envelope for that matter is so thoughtfully designed. So pretty, so whimsical and yet so forever timeless.

Karen is one of those designers that rarely, if ever, offers discounts on her work but lucky for us, today she is doing just that! To celebrate her brand newest line, The Prive Collection, Karen is offering up a 50% discount exclusively to one lucky Style Me Pretty reader.

wedding invitations

The invitations within the Prive Collection start at around $2500 for engraved and letterpress (so your prices will start at $1250) and $1600 for flat printing (so your prices will start at $800). This includes the invitations, the reply cards, the printed envelopes and an extra info card. For all of you paper junkies out there, like myself, who love thick papers and letterpress that will make you gasp, this is QUITE the discount. So if you can swing it, it’s SO worth it.

To enter, in the comments section below, please let us know which invitation from the Prive Collection (marked at the bottom of the individual invitation shots) is your favorite and why. We’ll choose the winner on Friday, February 19th. OH and wait! It’s not over yet. Karen is also going to gift the lucky winner a signed copy of her new book, Paperie for Inspired Living. Which I happen to have and am madly in love with. SO many genius ideas for entertaining and designing beautiful paper details.

So, if this discount fits within your budget, make sure to enter by Friday! We can’t wait to see the responses!

  1. Katie says:

LOVE LOVE LOVE all of these. My favorite thing (although not an invite) are the wedding bells.
With so many restrictions on flower pedals, and birdseed, and the such, I think this is such a charming way to truly shower a new marriage.
I also love it b/c ringing bells always makes me think 'every time you hear a bell ring an angel gets its wings."
If we are talking JUST invitation, that is such a hard call, but I would go classic elegance of the Crystal Chandelier.

    XOXOX
    Katie

  2. Karen is a rock star of invitation design! xo

  3. Judith says:

Those are so so gorgeous. I love that she offers different shapes. They make me happy just looking at them.

  4. Grapevine says:

Thank you for the wonderful feedback!

Katie, those bells are one of my favorite designs as well...I've actually watched guests go crazy over them and the soft ringing throughout the night is so romantic (much better than glass clinking!)

There are 10 more designs from the Privé Collection that have not yet been photographed and each design can be customized with colors, logos and fonts. The winners will be able to choose from more than 30 designs!

I'm truly excited to offer this new "affordable luxury" collection.

And a quick note about my book "Paperie for Inspired Living"...if you are a crafty bride (which I know most, if not all of you are) I feature photographs, instructions, materials and tools to create 50 DIY projects from escort cards and guest sign in concepts to favor tags and thank you notes, so you can get a great deal of inspiration for customizing everything for your wedding celebration!

Please let me know if you have questions on any of the designs you love!

    Warm regards,
    Karen Bartolomei

  5. leanne says:

I love the text placement on the back flaps of the envelopes. The illustrations flow so nicely on everything without overpowering the text. Simply lovely!

  6. Anne says:

It was so hard to choose, but I love Nyssa & Bill - though our wedding won't be nautical, it will be a 3-day destination wedding in Vermont with a rustic elegant feeling (think restored antique barn, outdoor ceremony overlooking green hills in August). I love the combination of the stacked cards, the map, the tied rope, and the classic font. I could see ours being green and brown, with a map of the property, and twine instead of blue rope wrapped around the card. We have lots of information to communicate and this would be the perfect way!

  7. Marissa says:

Because we got engaged in NYC, one of her designs jumped out at me immediately. I sure hope that Karen plans on expanding her postcard Save the Date theme to include other destinations. Ummm, perhaps somewhere like, you know - Fabulous Las Vegas!

We are getting married in Vegas this fall and I totally don't want to ignore the fun and silly side of our location. However, as my mother always says, "There is a time and place for everything." I would love to do a funky Save the Date similar to what she has done in her Prive Postcard Save the Date, followed up with a more classic invitation. Which clearly she offers! ;-)

    Karen, your work is exquisite!

  8. Erin says:

These are beautiful. I love Bill and Nyssa's in combination with Juliette and Jeffrey's... I too will be getting married aty my parents house in Vermont this August, so I'd love two Adirondack chairs instead of the beachy theme, but all of your invitations are beautiful, and provide so much inspiration! thank you!!

  9. Izabela says:

Does it get any cuter than the kissing seahorses? I adore the beautiful gray envelopes, the coral and the adorable imagery on these amazing invites! The softness of this set is perfect for the relaxed and romantic wedding we are planning. I also love flower fields, which is so whimsical and special. You are so talented, Karen!

  10. Grapevine says:

A quick note about Nyssa and Bill's invite...it can be customized with logos for any theme...I recently did a version in chocolate brown for a rustic New England woodland wedding and we used canoes, loons, leaves and pine trees. The custom map really makes the design!

Marissa, I have hundreds of vintage postcards which I use for inspiration...I'm sure we could do a fabulous version for Vegas!

Thank you all...keep the comments coming!

    Karen

  11. maura says:

tuahn and cuong with a combination of flower fields. i love the romantic feel of the flower fields but i've always wanted a fold out invite so i can tell the story of my day. i've very much trying to achieve a romantic, vintage vibe and that's exactly what the flower fields yell to me.i also loved the program with the roping as the binding - something very unique i would love to incorporate. such exquisite work!!

  12. Sarah says:

I can't decide between # 27 the Victorian Frame and #37 the Royal Crest---I love them both!! Those creamy golds & browns are to die for, but the shape of Victorian Frame is just beautiful. I'm also a HUGE fan of # 26 the Custom Beer Labels---my fiance's father brews his own beer and those would be perfect for favors! The NYC save the date postcard is pretty incredible, too. I don't know-- I can't decide!! They're all amazing (and the treasure chest invite makes me wish I was having a destination wedding to some far off beach!).

  13. Alli B says:

I loved several, and loved the fact that they all varied in shapes, sizes, designs, and feel. My favorite would have to be the Vintage Bookplate. The concept of our wedding is "Vintage/Modern plus Glam". The vintage is obvioulsy there in the details on patterns. The gold envelopes adds the glam flavor and the mixed fonts including both Script and non-script fonts adds that Vintage-Modern aspect. The Vintage aspect keeps things classic and romantic. The Modern details keep things current. I love the complexity of the framed invitation and the small attention to detail that is the pressed swurl in the envelope. I am an architect and was originally going to do our own invitations, but the detail and artistic value put into your invitations are something I would not have been able to fathom yet alone accomplish.

  14. katie says:

love love #18 violetta & steve (and the nyc save the dates!) we are getting married in nyc w/lots of out of town guests - think these strike the perfect balance between classic nyc and modern design. i know our out of town guests would be so excited to receive these, and the colors complement our scheme so far!

  15. Grapevine says:

If you love Vintage Bookplate you may also love Modern Glamour inspired by the book by Kelly Wearstler. Each of these designs have a full suite of complimenting designs for your ceremony and reception. Alli, go to the Grapevine press page and download the very first magazine article with the Elegant Bride cover to see a few more pieces from the Vintage Bookplate suite in citrus colors.

  16. Lorraine says:

Without a doubt, I would choose the "Kissing Seahorses." My summer wedding will take place seaside, and much of the decor involves the beautiful coral pattern and color. This exquisite invitation would really set the tone that I'm striving for. It's elegant, whimsical, and the kissing seahorses add that romantic touch. It's really a unique design that sets itself apart from many of the nautical themed invitations that I've seen, and I've seen many!

  17. Ana says:

I heart the Vintage Bookplate, I'm a avid reader so I fell in love with the save the dates book markers, these invitations would go perfectly with my Vintage inspired wedding.

  18. Janah says:

Very hard to choose, but I have to go with the Kissing Seahorses. I love sea creatures and have lots of framed prints all over the apartment. My fiance and I want nature to be a prominent feature in the design of our invitations, and also love the fact that seahorses mate for life!

  19. Erin says:

I love Cherry Picnic because it matches the wall in one of our venue rooms. If you don't believe me, check out the Crosby Hotel NYC, Spring Room! All of these are beautiful! Thanks for putting on such an awesome giveaway!

  20. lyndsie says:

I LOVE LOVE the Crystal Chandelier in the creamy ivory! We are having a black tie reception after a destination wedding in St Thomas and the colors for the reception are ivory and champagne silk shantung! These invitations would set the tone for the whole wedding experience.
I love the elegant silk table numbers as well. So perfect and above the ordinary!

And, I really have to have those kissing bells, so sweet and romantic. A memory to be cherished!

  21. megan says:

I've been living under a huge rock. Where have these invites been during all of my wedding planning?! Elegant, luxurious, and soft... they're just what I've been dreaming about. The 'Flower Fields' invitation set balances sophistication with downright adorableness. The blooms remind me of my own favorite fluffy flora, which will be abundant at my outdoor wedding. These invites would be the perfect whimsical finish to my wedding dreams!

  22. TMcV says:

My favorite is #6 Carlie & Zachary because it reminds me of a journey - so far it has been amazing!

  23. Amy E. says:

These are amazing. I love the personalized maps, but my favorite invites are the Royal Crest.

  24. Crystal says:

I just love Gilded Plum. We're having a very small wedding in an apple orchard with just a few guests and then a very big party to follow for all of our friends and family at a farm, and I want to make the invitations really special and reflect the smaller wedding. The design of this invitation is just stunning and I think would really set the tone for our casual yet unique and carefully designed party!

  25. courtney says:

Wow, these are all so gorgeous. Love the new styling

  26. Karen! You are amazing girl! I love these and will post these on my fb fanpage for you! Fab work as always!! xoxo

  27. Amy Ruocco says:

Karen, you are amazing! Love the contest. I'll post it to our fan page too. Congrats to the lucky bride!

  28. radhi says:

these invitations are all so beautiful & unique. since i'm currently obsessed with the combination of yellow and gray, the victorian frame instantly caught my eye. and the detail of the shape and the gorgeous pattern are just amazing. thank you!

  29. Michelle A. says:

These are all fabulous designs... I really loved the fold out design of the Tuahn and Cuong and the whimsical way the writing dances across the pages. I also loved Paradise Found for the fold out design and elegance as well. The Parisian pinwheel closure is great too! Love the vintage post card image that you used too! Gorgeous designs!

  30. Johanna says:

I LOVE your collection! Each is more beautiful than the next but if I had to pick favorites it would be either Crystal Chandelier or Liesl & Peter! I also am covetting the beer labels - so cute! You are incredibly talented.

  31. Grapevine says:

Thank you all for such wonderful feedback...I am thrilled my designs have inspired you!

    ENJOY!
    Karen

  32. Molly says:

Oh my goodness! There are so many beautiful designs to choose from! I'm very partial to the New York City save the date postcards, as I am planning a New York wedding. The Storybook Romance invitations are so fanciful, but I think I might have a hard time convincing the groom to go with them. If I had to pick one right this very minute, however, it would have to be Tauhn and Cuong.

  33. Cara says:

Wow! I have been in search of the perfect invitation suite that combines a classic, romantic style with a nod to our wedding location (Chatham, Cape Cod). I don't know how I could possibly chose a favorite. I love the Carley & Zachary, the Nyssa and Bill, and the Kissing Seahorses. Thank you for sharing your fabulous work!!

  34. Megan says:

These invitation are AMAZING! I love Isy & Edwin. It is very modern glam. My reception is at the NC Art Museum which is being remodeled. This clear invitation would go perfectly - and it is so different from all the other paper invitations. What is the invitation made of??

  35. Emily says:

My fiance and I are avid sailors and are in the process of planning an August wedding on the shores of the Mississippi River in Minnesota. We are walking the fine line of incorporating nautical elements into the day without turning it into a scene from a tacky seafood restaurant! I absolutely adore the Nautical Flags suite. It stunningly incorporates nautical elements like the compass, anchor and charts in an elegant and not-at-all kitchy way. Beautiful!

  36. Mary says:

My favorite are the Victorian Frames - fun but still classic.

  37. vladycrash says:

My favorite is #24, Flower Fields. It is whimsical with a youthful energy that shouts to the opener of this invitation that this wedding will be lighthearted, down to earth and filled with country fun!!! I love it!

  38. Sarah says:

My fiance is BIG into map collecting. My father is as well, and this is a hobby that they both share. Maps are placed throughout my family home and some of them have great significance to my parents (maps dating back centuries of Charleston, where I am getting married). The Grapevine collection is all so beautiful, but I really feel that the Carlie and Zachary design would really incorporate both my fiance and my father's love of maps into the wedding invitation suite. I am getting married at a historic plantation in Charleston, SC and these invitations would work beautifully with our decor and location!

  39. The Paradise Found invitations are beautiful--and they're our colors! I love the elegant script writing alongside the retro pop of turquise and red. They're stunning invitations that any bride (or stationery nut like myself) would be lucky to mail to her guests!

  40. Allison says:

These invitations took my breath away! Not only are they beautiful, but your ideas on incorporating unique and untraditional elements (etched glass, feathers, rope, etc.) are inspired. I also LOVE the idea of bookmark “save the dates”. Although my fiancé and I are having a weekend wedding in a seaside yachting town, I'm hesitant to go with a nautical theme as neither of us is very nautical! I'm more drawn to the classic styling of Vintage Bookplate and Victorian Frame. I think that either of these done to match our color scheme (cream, black, eggplant) would help establish the classic (and classy) tone we're trying to achieve. Thanks for sharing your creativity with us!

  41. TB says:

These are amazing!!! Love love love the Royal Crest design! They are gorgeous and I know that our guests would be so excited to open them!

  42. Heidi says:

After viewing every invitation twice, I keep going back to the Gilded Plum invitation. It is such an intricate and beautiful design - simply exquisite. The invitation is lavishly elegant, refined and brings a theme of European royalty to mind. We are having a New Year's Eve wedding in an old English manor house in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. This invitation matches our colors (deep purple and gold) and is a perfect design for our vintage romance themed wedding. I would be honored to send the Gilded Plum invitations to our guests. They are sure to be an invitation our guests will remember for a long time.

  43. Kaitlyn says:

    Such beautiful work!

I love Tuahn Cuong pikc and brown invitations. The fold out is adorable from it is closed like a present to when you open it all the way up. The script across the pages is elegant and playful. The coors go perfectly with my palate of creams, golds and a pop of pink.

    Thank you for sharing!

  44. Morgan says:

The gilded plum invitations would be our favorite - by far. We're having a garden wedding and our colors are plum and gold, so these are just perfect! Thanks for the chance to win!

P.s. We also absolutely love the custom beer labels for the "I Do Brew," so clever! Win or not, we might just have to order a set of those!

  45. joey says:

WOW.. i honestly think that these invitations are among the best i have ever seen. i would LOVE LOVE LOVE any of your packages. I adore all of the ribbons, maps, the scrolls, AND the wedding bells! Thank you so much for the chance to win!

  46. Amy says:

Everything is simply stunning. Flower Fields is the winner in my heart. I don't think anyone can look at this invitation and not feel... happy.

  47. Kourtney says:

Karen--I stumbled across your website and your absolutely beautiful invitation designs during the very early stages of my wedding planning process (almost a year and a half ago). I bookmarked your website and would visit occasionally for inspiration. As the wedding planning got into gear and budgets were created, I realized that luxurious invitations was one of the items I was going to have to sacrifice. I just couldn't convince anyone in my family that invitations were worth the financial sacrifice. But secretly in my heart I knew that if there was one item I could splurge on it would be the paper products--I could walk down the aisle in a paper sack as long as my invites were the BOMB! But eventually, my family won out and I stopped looking about your site because I knew everything on it was out of my reach. UNTIL, yesterday when Abby posted this contest and I almost fell out of my chair! I went back to your website and realized you had completely revamped it! I fell in love all over again! If I were to pick an invitation from your Prive collection it would be #21 (Isy & Edwin). I love how it is modern and chic, yet also extremely elegant and classic--the exact look I am going for with my August wedding. Thank you so much for the opportunity to have the paper products I have been dreaming about!

  48. Grapevine says:

I truly don't know how we are going to pick the winner...every one of you deserves the invitation of your dreams! I will have to let Abby choose, because I don't have the heart to!

Please check out my facebook page for additional design layouts that are waiting to be photographed!
    http://www.facebook.com/pages/Karen-Bartolomei/274646459102?v=photos&ref=ts#!/album.php?aid=146835&id=274646459102

And, thank you all so much for such amazing feedback!

    Karen

  49. Lorraine says:

Wow these invitations are amazing! As others have said it is so hard to choose but I have definitely been drawn to the Royal Crest invitation. Our wedding is in a castle in Ireland so this would fit perfectly into our wedding. With lots of guests coming from overseas we can infuse a bit of history of the castle and Ireland!

  50. Dana says:

The "Amanda & Benjamin" invitation (the one that looks like an African safari) speaks to my heart. My fiance and I met in the Peace Corps in Ghana. Curtis taught math and I taught art--a true meeting of both sides of the brain!

Our wedding will be at a lovely home built in the 1920's. It has a beautiful pale pink rose garden where our friend, a writer, is going to officiate the ceremony. The reception will be out on the lawn surrounded by huge oak trees. Our theme is nature's simple elegance with those we love.

We would SO appreciate the opportunity to have fine, uniquely personal invitations that include an element of our "under African skies" love story. I also love how the invitation looks like it is wrapped in a delicate hankie--it pairs well with our slightly vintage style and reminds me of the bandanas I used to wear in Ghana to wipe the sweat off my brow, though not nearly as pretty. Ha!

  51. Brie says:

I would have to say the "Jeffrey and Julliette" is my hands down favorite! I love, love, love the paper! I love that textured hand made paper that feels like cotton or fabric. The pastels look lovely on it too! An invitation like this definetly gets your guests excited and gets their minds wondering of how the rest of the wedding will be! They are absolutely gorgeous.

  52. Rayna says:

First off, can I just say wow!!!! Your invitations are exquisite, and it makes me so excited to start designing the element that is going to set the tone of our wedding. Your collections are the first that I have found that I could honestly start envisioning my wedding while looking at them! The opportunity to be able to afford your work would be a dream!

During the first look-through I fell in love with Isy and Edwin's invitations. The set is so sleek and modern and different. I had also seen a version of this suite in Modern Bride and since my wedding is next February in Utah I loved the idea of an "icy" invitation suite!

I was all set to make this my final pick when I saw your post about the additional suites on Facebook, so I took a look and my heart skipped a beat. There was the Modern Glamour invitation set. There are two reasons - one is that I have been describing my wedding since the beginning as Modern Winter Glamour, so I couldn't believe there was an invitation that had the same name! The next and most important is that it has crowned lions on the invite. My fiance is Scottish and misses his family and homeland and I want to do everything in my power to bring his "home" to him. The Scottish coat of arms is the crowned lion, and it would make me blissful to have this crown our invitation!

Thank you so much for the opportunity!

  53. Thelma says:

After looking and looking when I came across the Victorian Frame my heart melted. It gives me a romantic vintagey feeling. It is truly a beautiful piece.I would love for these to represent our wedding.I have my eyes on the custom beer labels too.I'm not a beer drinker but my fiance and his mom are. Those are a must have also.
    twils2001@yahoo.com

  54. Ashley says:

Swoon... I am infatuated with the Victorian Frame! I have been searching for invitations that fit my wedding's personality (I don't like the word theme it tends to scare people off) and when I came across your collection all I could say was this is it!! Unfortunately they are out of my budget; however, with the discount they would be perfectly do-able. Settling for anything less than the Victorian Frame would be an utter disappointment when the time comes to send them off to guests. I don't think anyone's wedding deserves such mediocrity.

I am a firm believer that the invitation sets the tone for a fabulous celebration and would LOVE for the Victorian Frame to announce our wedding, not to mention my fiance will probably thank you in advance for saving him from months of pouting about having to settle for sub-par paper goods.

  55. Audie says:

I love the Victorian invites. The romantic lace compliments our night wedding held in an art gallery. The yellow and gray invites would provide guests with a glimpse of the reception. White flowers with pops of gray and yellow! Perfect!

  56. WedAlert says:

Absolutely wonderful invites. I especially love the Storybook Romance, and Canouan Island, but they are all fantastic.

  57. Having fun betting house games online certainly has its benefits as you don't even have to go out of your bedroom you can enjoy games in your jammies all day long.

  58. Twinnks says:

I loved several, and loved the fact that they all varied in shapes, sizes, designs, and feel. My favorite would have to be the Vintage Bookplate.

  59. I've been coming here for a roughly a week now and have decided to make my first post to say thank you.

  60. Wonderful goods from you, man. I have understand your stuff previous to and you're just too great.
