Manhattan Wedding by Denise Fasanello

We have an ahhhhmazing day on SMP today. Aside from featuring some of the most adorable wedding inspirations a girl could ever want, we also have a pretty great announcement and giveaway coming up this afternoon (or this morning for you West Coasters). It’s a very good day on Style Me Pretty so make a little mental note to check back more than once. First up, I thought we could start the day with the most charming, sweet, totally lovely wedding that Denise Fasanello (whose work I am newly obsessed with) sent our way.

We never thought a reception without flowers could be so pretty, but Denise totally pulled it off with a sense of style and budget friendly design that I knew you guys would love. Here’s what she had to say about it…

October rain could not dampen the mood for this amazing couple. Carrie and Adam came to me requesting no flowers for their wedding! Imagine, me a flower designer hearing those words. But I was eager to translate their design desires for all greens, succulents and interesting seed pods and the like. It was a dreamy green affair.

Those no-flower-floral-arrangements are great, such a unique twist on the traditional settings. The picture of the groom being protected from the rain is adorable.

  2. Libby says:

WOW - I am loving every single detail! What an adorable desert table!

  3. Jennifer says:

This is beautiful and great inspiration for me as a newly engaged NYC resident, so thanks for posting it. Though New Leaf Cafe is not in the Bronx, it is at the top of Manhattan in Fort Tryon Park, near the Cloisters. It is a beautiful area, with wonderful river views and gardens.

  4. Mouse says:

IS THAT A DE-THORNED CACTUS IN HER BOUQUET?!?! Must have.

  5. Elena Adams says:

I love that dessert table. The mini-cupcakes are darling.
The touches of cactus are unique! What a fresh idea.

  6. These bouquets are exquisite! They are so unexpected, and the graphic shapes combined with the delicate elements are so whimsical. Beautifully evocative of Dr. Seuss or Alice in Wonderland.

  7. CKD says:

I'm getting married at this location in September and Denise is my florist!! YAY!

  8. Teresa says:

    Those bouquets are insane!!!

  9. Tamar says:

It looked like Fort Tryon park to me - what a beautiful site!

  10. Diana says:

Wonderful! The non-floral arrangements are so unexpectedly beautiful and LOVE the cupcake presentation. AND, please do tell the details about the dress. I've been searching for one just like it.

  11. Alison Ellis says:

The flowers really are fantastic. I think Mouse likes the lotus pods that almost look like a cactus...unless there is a cactus in there I am missing. The greenery in the bottles makes such a unique statement.

  12. Hi there!
Thank you all for the amazing kudos! I am so honored to be on featured. And yes, it's a green lotus pod rather than a cactus. But I have to say, I'm liking the idea of using a cactus now! I will try and find out about the dress for you. Thanks again!

Love the greenery centerpieces - makes the room look lush, vibrant and so natural. I'm always a bit surprised and saddened when designers think events can't be classified as "pretty" unless there are piles of flowers. Weddings are beautiful in general - flowers or not.

  14. Sheila says:

Cut flowers are so traditional, but it seems more and more brides and grooms are opting for potted flowers, or even potted herbs, for their wedding tables. Green is beautiful!

  15. Molly says:

This is very beautiful. We love the organic designs and the black sash on the wedding dress. Awesome arrangements and desserts.....YUMMY!

  17. Heather says:

I have been looking for a similar shade of green tie--could you please share where you purchased them? Thanks!

  18. Carrie says:

Hey, ladies! Adam and I were so excited to see our wedding on SMP! You've probably already figured it out, but Denise was amazing to work with. She really did achieve our flower-less vision. I also wanted to give a shout out to some other vendors that you all have commented on/asked about:

Cupcakes: Kumquat Cupcakery. We selected a few flavors and Keavy baked, delivered, set-up, etc. You can find her at the Brooklyn Flea if you're curious.
    Dress: Sophia by Selia Yang
Ties: I happened upon these at a men's shop called Jazzman in Madison, WI. He only had one in stock, but ordered more and shipped them to me. Call Craig at 608-256-2062 and ask to order Stacy Adams ties in Sage/#18. They are really alot brighter than a true sage. I think they were about $25 each.

    Good luck!
