I love this wedding. I figured I would just get that out there. Now that I’ve said that; how are you? Is wedding planning everything you dreamed it would be? A bit more stressful? Do you find it a little easier to plan when you have wedding eye candy that includes barn dances, parasols, vintage vases and the most amazing wavy haired bride in an all lace dress? Oh good! I have just the thing. Macare and Dustin’s summer soiree at one of the prettiest ranches in Northern Michigan. I want you to swirl around the following color palette in your head: cranberry, blush, soft pink, ecru and grass green. Warm? Inviting? Perfect? Yeah. I thought so too. The wedding reception was designed by one of my very favorite people, Alicia Caldecott of A Day in May Events. If you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting or chatting with Lish let me just tell you she is one of the world’s sweetest people. It’s true. Here’s what Alicia had to say;
The warm summer day started with a traditional, intimate wedding ceremony in Traverse City, Michigan. Than the couple and their 200 wedding guests headed to Crooked Creek Ranch for a memorable celebration. The weather was picture perfect! Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were enjoyed alfresco encouraging guests to explore the expansive grounds of Crooked Creek. Dinner was served on the lawn which overlooked Lake Leelanau and the owner’s horses running through the front pasture.
Just perfect right? I think so. And Macare, our beautiful bride, is a close runner-up in the ‘world’s sweetest people’ category. She was also kind enough to stop by a tell a little bit about her sweet summer soiree.
I loved collecting our used and eclectic vases from several thrift stores around town. It was fun thinking that every vase had a different story behind it. I also loved seeing the various patterns and colors throughout the white tent, because no centerpiece was alike! My favorite vase was hand painted and looked like it came from somewhere in Asia. I always wonder the journey it took to get to my wedding reception.
There is a lot more coming up including a super fun hot dog stand and some home grown barn dancing!
xoxo, Andrea of Gwyneth Paige {Couture Letterpress}

Wonderful colors! Great pics:)
What a great wedding! Can't wait to see more
As I sit shivering under a blanket right now, this burst of summer is PURE JOY! I love how the details flow elegantly, nothing forced. I also really like the trend where couple's put items that represent their honeymoon on the guest signing table. It makes for great conversation for your party and allows the guests to feel more included. Can't wait to see the rest!
So happy to see a Northern Michigan wedding! We are getting married in Traverse City this July--it is breathtakingly beautiful there :) Can't wait to see more pics of this wedding!
I LOVE your bouquet- where did your florist find those awesome feathers?
Love the wedding colors! The flowers are gorgeous as well as the bridesmaids dresses!
Love the bride's laced wedding gown and her lovely hair. Bride looks very stunning and elegant. Love the design of her dress. This wedding has a lot of beautiful details. Love the ambiance, quite natural and refreshing!
Drea your comment is exactly how I felt when I first saw Macare & Dusty's wedding. Pure joy is no better way to describe it!
Suzanne, hopefully Macare will stop by but I have an email out to her and her florist to find your feather question's answer. :)
Brittany, how awesome you are getting married in Traverse City! I haven't been but this wedding definitely makes me want to visit!!
Thank you so much for showcasing a Midwest wedding!
I had been reluctantly planning on wearing my normally curly hair in some straightened, entirely re-styled way for my wedding (because nearly all of the hairstyles out there are for straight or straightened hair, which is then re-styled), but Macare's lovely, lovely hairstyle has given me hope that I can wear my hair curly and still look elegant (and a little more like my usual self). She looks radiant!
What a stunning bouquet! And the dress is to die for, bravo!!
Are those feathers in her bouquet? Love!
I JUST saw this... about two minutes ago! I didn't even know that it was up! Thank you for all the lovely comments - our wedding was largely a success due to my Mom and Alicia from "A Day in May" event planning. Alicia is AMAZING. In regards to the question about the feathers in the bouquet: Marla, our florist, bought white feathers and painted them hot pink. I'm not sure how... but I'm pretty sure that's what she did!
Beautiful dress! I love the white and green vases too.
Macare, your wedding was beautiful!! I absolutely love everything. What did you use for your guestbook? It looks like a good idea.
We used a picture book of Hawaii - because we went there for our Honeymoon. We placed gold and silver paint pens out so people could write us a message inside the book. Also, we had guests sign a couple of our favorite bottles of wine that we purchased from a trip to Napa, with the same paint pens. The plan was to enjoy the wine on our first year anniversary.
Is that an Emplume bridal bouquet? I thought of suggesting them to a bride I have. I love the colors. The style of your wedding is similar to the kind my bride is looking to have, Hawaiian influence and all! Her color scheme is going to be awesome as well! Thanks for showing a beautiful Michigan wedding! I love my state! :)
Do you have any more pictures of the seating cards....I am thinking about a similar idea and would love to see this up close!
also, where did you happen to find the vintage produce crates and the signs? Love them! thanks so much!
Where did you get your wedding dress? I absolutely love the lace style wedding dress! You looked beautiful
