Simply Sparkling Events ~ San Francisco Wedding At The De Young Museum

January 29th. 2010 by Eddye | Filed Under | 10 comments

We gave you a quick preview this morning of Karen & Jay’s wedding, but now for the whole shebang! This might possibly be the most vibrant, spirited and wonderfully witty wedding we’ve featured on The Little Black Book Blog!  Sent to us by the lovely ladies at Simply Sparkling Events ~ it is a sheer pleasure to share with you today …

Karen & Jay were married in the Sculptural Garden at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. Jay is a cartoonist and artist at heart. He and Karen incorporated their artistic talents into their wedding day in so many ways. Jay created a character logo ~ a different spin on a monogram! We used it on their invitations, programs, and menus and even as a label on the bottled water.

Their ceremony took place on the lush green Sculpture Garden behind the De Young Museum Café adorned with one of a kind metal sculptures. GrandiFlora, LLC (another LLB member!) set the stage with two gorgeous flower arrangements. Our color palette was bold and modern~ orange, silver and fuchsia with black accents. Karen with GrandiFlora, took the vision and brought it to life in the most incredible way!

Karen and Jay’s guests enjoyed a photobooth, a scrapbook table and photographs of every single guest that we had turned into escort cards!

The cupcake display was a definite jaw-dropper! When guests caught sight of the giant cupcake at the top ~ they could barely contain themselves!

Thank you Ladies for all the wonderful feedback and comments, this wedding was so much fun and I was so lucky to have the honor of being a part of Karen & Jay's special day.

As far as the bridesmaid dresses go Karen envisioned a very modern dress to go with the edgy feel of the De Young and to match our color scheme of chrome/gray, orange with hits of fuchsia. She picked the Enzoani's Love A33 collection. The Bride ordered the dresses 3 months before the wedding thinking it would arrive plenty of time before the wedding. However, it arrived 1 month behind schedule. So in the end, they only had 1 week for alterations, which as all you know is tight fit pardon the pun. I know that there were a lot of issues with the dresses during the wedding, zippers breaking and details on the seams were poorly constructed, in the end they looked fabulous in the photos but the girls were very unhappy with the quality and the hassle of the dresses the day of, just a heads up. I emailed Karen after I saw Emily's question above and Karen definitely wanted future Brides to be aware of these issues she had with the bridesmaid dresses.

  9. Great shots, love the photos on the pegs - what a fun idea. The bridesmaid dresses are fantastic and the bride looks amazing in both her white dress and traditional gown. The table decorations and place card holders are simple yet very effective. Looked like a fun night!
