Charleston Wedding by Ooh! Events

It’s pretty much a given that we are going to fall in love with anything that Lisa Thomas of Ooh! Events in Charleston sends us. Her weddings are always so completely romantic, so completely Charleston. And this one…oh my. It’s total gorgeousness. It has this really old world, Grace Kelly vibe about it, where tradition meets total style. And although I could easily talk all day about this one, I’ll just let the beautiful pictures by Tracey Turpen speak for themselves.

From Lisa Thomas at Ooh! Events

Lisa and Jake, Ohio natives, had weathered 5 years of long distance relationship when Jake finally popped the question during a vacation at the Turks and Caicos. Charleston, SC seemed like a perfect place for their families from all over the country to gather to celebrate. They wanted some place close to the city so their guests could truly have a experience Charleston. They quickly decided on Lowndes Grove. Lisa envisioned a classic, intimate event with lots of neutrals to compliment the Plantation in it’s natural form.

In a picture perfect ceremony they said, “I Do” under a live oak tree that was adorned with crystal chandeliers while Ann Caldwell sang classic jazz throughout the ceremony. Lisa and her bridesmaids looked stunning as Lisa choose a vintage glam style. The floral only added to this unique, vintage, elegance with garden roses, snowberries, hydrangeas, and casablanca lilies in vintage milk glass collection from Out Of Hand. Under an array of tents they continued their celebration with an original mix of cuisines as gold drum shades cast a romantic glow into the night and threw a pattern of stars on the ceiling. The legendary Charleston baker, Jim Smeal, created a cake that was a masterpiece that accompanied Out Of Hand’s vintage elegance.

The newlyweds and their guests were kept dancing all evening with the Two 3 Ways band and a DJ later in the night. A group of 50 guests accompanied Lisa and Jake as they kept on dancing the night away at the rooftop of the Market Pavilion Hotel. The next day as they jet set away on their honeymoon, Lisa and Jake knew they’d never forget their wedding experience as anything other than amazing!

Brittany- THe dress is Rivini Mermaid #9. It;s hard to find and runs around 5K. Nitsa's Bridal in Charlotte & Raleigh can order.
Jim Smeal did the cake and is the best there is in all the south. Magnolia's are made of sugar. Every cake flavor of his just melts in your mouth- worth every penny, every piece was eaten in a flash.

Oh and the pictures are quite fabulous. My favorite photo is the one with the chandelier hanging from the branches with the couple in the background having their wedding ceremony and the sunlight streaking behind the huge tree. Such a great shot! The photo speaks of romance and love being timeless!

Hi ladies, I am almost positive that the bmaid dresses are J.Crew (unless someone is ripping us off! I work for J.Crew in NYC :) ). It's an older style though, which we don't carry anymore. Check out the website for the newer stuff.

  24. adam hudson says:

  26. Erin Walsh says:

I have to say - most perfect cake I had ever seen! Why didn't I think of that! Stunning confection!

  27. Fo says:

What a beautiful wedding! Congratulations!! I love the bridesmaids necklaces!! They are beautiful. Do you mind sharing where they are from?

  28. lisa- bride from this wedding says:

Yes- bridesmaids dresses are j crew. J crew is the best way to go (my bridesmaids all lived in cities across the country, so I had to make it easy for them. And you know if you pick j crew- the girls can wear their dresses again. These even had pockets. Style is discontinued, but the color should still be available. And their dresses are lightweight (silk tricotine), so everyone stays fresh as a daisy.

My favors were not candles- but a cookbook filled with charleston recipes, printed them through an online printer for quite a savings, and they were a huge hit! Especially for people who have not traveled to charleston before, and fell in love with the city- they had a taste of charleston to take home!

  29. Erica says:

    Rosemary,

You are my wedding hero! The centerpieces, runners and all the other details are simply stunning. I just emailed this to my mom with the title "the final PERFECT" touches.

    Love it!

    Erica

  30. Laura says:

    Hi there,
Your wedding is absolutely stunning! I was wondering where the chandeliers seen hanging from the oak tree during the ceremony can be found?
    Thanks!
