San Luis Obispo Wine Trolley Wedding From Lollipop Events

As I was doing an interview for an upcoming magazine feature, I was asked what the one piece of advice I would give to all brides and grooms would be. Simple. Let your personality dictate your wedding style. So today, I thought we could take a little break from tradition and show you two weddings that didn’t take themselves too seriously. Two weddings that are all about the charm, all about personality.

First up, this completely whimsical, totally original wedding that Lollipop Events and Designs sent our way…inspired by the couple’s love of wine country. For those of you that don’t already know about Lollipop Events, you’ll definitely want to add them to your radar. SUCH creativity coming out of this little event design firm, with style literally bursting from their seams. Plus, they have an amazing blog and a gallery of the most adorable ideas you’ve ever seen so even if you aren’t in the market for a wedding planner, it will be a fun little visit.

San Luis Obispo held a special place in the couple’s hearts and made for a perfect launch pad for this “Wine Trolley Wedding”.  The weekend fun was started off with a welcome dinner. To keep things interesting we went a completely different design direction from the rustic/mod wedding to come and instead welcomed guests with a Latin style affair. Guests were served pitchers of mojitos, and traditional Brazilian appetizers. Fun dice games, and props were set at each table to serve as comical “ice breakers”for the events to come.

For the ceremony, we created a new site on a classic vineyard and incorporated an ancient oak to frame the vineyard setting. The bride made a grand entrance by walking through a suspended ruffled pergola placed at the beginning of the aisle way instead of the traditional placement at the end of it. Programs were printed directly onto brown paper lunch bags and filled with horns that said to “blow” and confetti that said to “throw”. Following the ceremony, the guests toasted the new couple that had their own colossal couture wine goblets, which served as their tasting cups for the day.

Back onto the trolley, the guests made their way to stop number two. On the trolley the guests were greeted with ‘Wine Notes’ notepads to record their favorite wines to order and stickers with funny wine related sayings. The second stop on the Wine Trolley express was at gorgeous winery where we treated the guests to an organic boxed lunch on tables decorated with apple baskets and rustic linens looking over rolling vineyard hills. Following lunch the guests were treated to a wine tasting and tour in the vineyards cellars and delightful game of bocce ball. Onto stop number three! For a comedic infused wine tasting at the third winery the guests were asked to wear wigs and silly hats in this carnival style fun house.

For the final destination guests hopped back onto the trolley and made their way onto stop number four. The reception was held on a patio overlooking the idyllic winery pond at sunset bringing the cool and welcomed breeze with it. Tables were all set differently with contrasting tablescapes in an orange, pale aqua and brown color palette accented with hints of white and copper. We designed and commissioned custom owl centerpieces with glitter dusted white paper flowers, branches and hand thrown tree trunk ceramic bases. For the wedding party’s table a birch branch ‘table forest’ was designed that held candles and floral arrangements. Napkins were wrapped in copper wire and leaf charms. Cozy white throws served as chair backs and gifts for the guests to take home. The buffet station was lined with white painted wine bottles that displayed the catering signs that resembling wine labels! The couple’s cake, disguised as a birch tree stump blended into a birch branch platform along side layers of cupcakes in a dessert floral forest.

What a fun way to have your dream weddings - with the trolley taking everyone to four locations! I can't believe they had four separate tables and each one is incredible! So non-cliche for a winery wedding. I'm having them do my wedding in 2011 and I can't wait!
