my DRESS(!!!) for sure has been the most memorable and FUN aspect of wedding planning so far. I made my 25th birthday weekend a wedding dress extravaganza with the most important women in my life. my aunt came in from out of town, another aunt came, my mother, my fiance's mother, my fiance's recently widowed grandmother and his sister were with me. we had visited 3 bridal salons before entering Belltown Bride in Seattle. the owner, Melissa and her assistant Lia treated my family and I like we were their family. we had the salon to ourselves. we laughed, we teased, we danced, it was fantastic. the salon sells 'used' (in photoshoots, runway shows) designer gowns at outlet prices. not only did we have fun and we felt SO special, but i found an OFF THE RACK richard glasgow gown originally $3,400 for....$350. it was by far, above and beyond my gown shopping expectations. we had the best customer service from them, we shared such a special 'girl' moment together, and found a stellar gown at a shockingly stellar price. it was a truly magical day.

The whole experience has been overwhelming and fun at the same time. My fiance and I love doing it all together and find ourselves loving each other more during and after each meeting with consultants than we did before. I am essentially planning the whole thing by myself (no wedding planner), and find that my favorite part is finding little things we can do to bring a bit of "ourselves" into each part of the wedding. Hopefully when it all comes together, everything from the song I walk down the aisle to, to the invitation wording, to the beads on my bridesmaids bracelets will have special meaning to us.

When I dream of my wedding day, I don't always picture me in a big white dress, meandering down an aisle while all eyes are on me, ooing over the dress (that I FINALLY picked out!). For me, I have a different vision....

I picture my future husband at the end. Smiling back at me with his red hair highlighted by the light from the sunset, a huge smile and sparkling green eyes. I picture the wedding and ceremony as terribly exciting and all too brief.

Finally, I picture waking up next to my best friend and hopping a plane to Ireland. Yes, two of the most exciting (and unexpectedly fun) decisions have been my groom's attire and the honeymoon.

When looking through men's attire, I fell in love with the cutaway jacket, or morning coat. While some people say their dress finds them, this suit found me. It screamed of turn-of-the-century English gentleman. Throw it on the man of my dreams, Mr. Shawn Adams and it's all too perfect. Completely and utterly looking forward to seeing him standing there at the end of the aisle in it with that beautiful teal tie. After the best evening of my life, I simply can't wait to spend a week traveling the Irish countryside as the new Mrs. Adams with my brand new hubby by my side!

I loved visiting different venues! It was actually the most exhausting part of the planning for us. We visited venues in four cities! Each area offers a different vibe... the big city feel of NYC, Boston rich in history, the nautical feel of Newport, and coastal Cape Cod... and we love it! It's funny how we chose our venue. My fiance has been complaining about how expensive weddings are. But when we got to our venue, he stopped complaining and started thinking about what he wants at the wedding. The weird part... we weren't really planning to book that venue. I thought it was out of our budget, but it was beautiful so we just wanted to see it. But we fell in-love with it!

This answer probably surprises me more than anyone else, but the best and most unexpected part of the whole process has been the affect it's had on my relationship with my mom. Growing up, we had a pretty strained relationship and I moved across the state the moment I graduated high school. And in the last ten years, we've maintained a polite, but unemotional and uncomfortable kind of communication with each other, but never had anything to really connect us until now. We're planning the wedding back in my hometown and just in the past 10 months, I've visited home more than in the past 10 years. It's like we finally have something in common. I've found myself doing things with her I never thought I would in a million years - crafting, emailing ideas, and just chatting about everyday things. We've never had so much to talk about. And I know it sounds bizarre to most, but I'd been dreading going dress shopping with her, because I felt it would be awkward and uncomfortable. I think she actually had been too...but it turned out, I couldn't have picked a dress without her. I wouldn't say the wedding has magically made us the best of friends as I'm not sure we're there yet, (I'd just about die if she read this), but it's funny because I'd always told my fiance, "we just don't have that kind of relationship," but since we've started planning this wedding, it makes me think maybe one day we might.

The best part of planning has been discovering my own style! I always knew I loved a classic look, but it turns out I am terribly romantic at heart and love shades of muted pinks, peach, champagnes and creams. I love vintage hairstyles and anything with sparkle, and I have very strong opinions about the type of votives I put on my cocktail tables! My fiance too is finding his own way to express himself through our wedding, spending hours scrutinizing different boutonierres, ties vs. bowties, and the right look for our cake (although he would never admit it). It feels great to make this our own, especially since we have been waiting so long (7 years) to do it!

The best part about planning our wedding is:

    1) Having ample time to plan and knowing what we want
    2) Consulting SMP for the greatest ideas from the greatest in the industry, and all you gorgeous brides! Without SMP, I wouldn't even know where to start!
    3) Having a really supportive fiance who lets me "run with it"

From dress shopping, to intervieiwing invitationers, to selecting the music, to registering, I would have to say that one of my most memorable experiences was when a cousin of mine had offered his company to do a "Same Day Edit" for our wedding (this June). Cinematography was waaaay out of our budget, but he will do it for us because of love, and because of all we've done for his family in the past. It felt so good to receive the news that we would be having that type of documentation for our day! Its all about karma, people! :)

Another memorable moment was when SMP featured Jenny Yoo for bridesmaid dresses! I actually contacted Jenny Yoo's NYC shop and after email after email, I finally found myself, with my mom, sisters, and fiance in the actual Broadway showroom! We bought the bridesmaid dresses- thanks to SMP!

Every aspect of wedding planning has been such an amazing learning experience! I love explaining the vision to vendors who take the time to listen. I also have learned so much from all of you. Thank you so much for all your inspirational ideas! Congrats to all you brides, and good luck and God Bless to all you up-coming brides :)

Good luck to the winner of this contest! The experience you will get from this contest is priceless!

The best part of wedding planning has been the consideration and thought my fiance has put into making our wedding the most special day of our lives (so far!). Not surprisingly, he's shown little interest in colors, invitations, or flowers, but he's shown a huge interest in making sure our wedding reflects who we are as a couple. I've been very touched how he's put so much thought into details like music and food and who'll be performing the ceremony. He's also been great about coordinating travel for our families, especially my sister who has 3 small children. After we got engaged, we moved far away from our families and many of our friends. It did cross my mind that I would be planning our wedding without the help from my sister, mom or girlfriends, but planning the wedding with the groom has proven to be the best part of it so far!

This may sound a little bit unorthodox, but I love how during the entire process (and I still have a long way!), my fiance has been 100% involved. It's so relieving knowing he cares about the little details as much as I do and wants this wedding to be about the groom, the bride and their love, not about the frantic bride, lol. He even gave his input on the dress, he of course didn't help pick it (we're a tad traditionalist!) and hasn't seen it, but it's really comforting to see he's there. I show him every invitation design, run by the guest list (such a pain in the tush, but it's got to get done!), it's been a great bonding experience. Of course, when I freak out he calms me down, and when things get tense (it seems it comes with planning a wedding), we lean on each other.

It's definitely brought us even closer, and the decision making process has been a practice of sorts for when married life comes along. We're actually getting married at The Breakers, and this opportunity would be great! We're a 10/10/10 wedding, so I guess we're starting to feel the tension, lol.

    Good luck to the winners!

I must confess, I am not engaged. However, I have been in a very serious relationship with weddings since I got my first Bride's magazine at age six. Since then I have loved studying all I could about weddings gowns, traditions, etiquette, flowers and all things nuptial. For the last few years I have also enjoyed being a bridal consultant at a local shop in Salt Lake City. I have loved getting to know my hundreds of brides and becoming a piece of their story. Last summer a decade long dream came true when I was able to intern with Utah Bride and Groom magazine. Being able to attend this show would be an even bigger dream, complete with meeting my favorite magazine editor (Ms. Miller), the style advisor I ador (oh Randy) and a series of other designers, planners and artists who have been the other half of my love affair with weddings.

Thanks for all you do, your blog is the best part of my day

Believe it or not, the best part of planning our wedding has been compiling our guest list. I know that's generally the bane of a bride's existence, but it's been the highlight of mine! Both my fiance and I are emotionally close to our families, and we couldn't have envisioned our day without them. We're fortunate to have my fiance's extended family close by, but many of my relatives are scattered across the country. The last time I saw some of them was at my cousin's wedding when I was six years old... I was the flower girl!

My wedding is meaningful because it will join me with the best man I've ever met, but it's also a rare chance to bring my entire extended family together. Relatives will be flying in from all over the country, many of whom will be meeting my fiance for the first time. Thinking about my family meeting my fiance's family adds a whole new level of meaning. Each time I decide to take on yet another DIY detail project, I think about how each of our very different guests will perceive it.

So, every time I see our guest list, I can't help but smile. I can't imagine anything better than all of our loved ones together, in the same place, on the same day, for the same purpose.

For me the best part about planning a wedding is the realization that I'M GETTING MARRIED! It's the most important decision I could ever make about my future, and something that has come with a lot of time and heart felt consideration. I've fallen in love with a man that is good in every way (they still exsist!) and he makes living life pure happiness. Now that wedding planning is upon me it is difficult to not be overwhelmed with dresses, cakes, flowers, photgrophy, money, money, money! But the process and journey of this wedding planning is fun and very memorable. I enjoy having bridal magazines spread across my floor as "Platnuim Weddings" plays on my tv in the background and I sit at my desk browsing helpful internet sites! I'm getting married and it's just so exciting!

For me, the answer to this is two fold. First, I would never have imagined how close the process would bring everyone. Our families and friends have really joined forces to help us make this a special day not just for us, but for everyone we love. Second, I am a closet craft freak! I love anything and everything DIY so a wedding is just about as perfect of an outlet for my creative steam as anything I can think of! My fiance is glad the attention has turned to projects that can be made with paper and a little graphic design, instead of furniture ("Can't we make our own dressers?" ...Yes, I really tried to push that one past him).

The venue!! I loved traveling all over the gorgeous city of Chicago looking for wedding venues. There are so many magnificent ballrooms and restaurants downtown I just couldn't pick one....so I picked one in Arizona! Haha. My fiance and I loved all of the Chi-town venues we toured but we absolutely fell in love with a brand new site in Mesa Arizona when we were visiting over the holidays! When I'm standing in the spot where our ceremony would be held, looking at the sunset over the mountains I feel like flying. Its one of those locations you see in the movies where the cute guy kisses the girl for the first time!
Unfortunetly, this morning I got the terrible phone call that our dream wedding location is not going to work out. At first I was devastated but, now I'm excited to get back out there and keep touring venues in Chicago!

Bonding!! The best part of planning so far has been the time spent with my Grammie. She was there when my fiance and I got engaged at graduation and was so EXCITED!! My Grammie helped me to put my vision into action and gave me so many Fabulous ideas that I fell absolutely in love with!
You see, I am from Chicago but live in Charlotte now so every time I went home or talked to my Grammie it was wedding planning time! We would stay up late laughing and joking about the "what if's" and "OMGs" lol... I really value and appreciate the time spent. Unfortunately Grammie passed away September 25, 2009 to breast cancer. As a memory for her, at our wedding ceremony a pink rose will be in the first chair, as that would have been her seat and a slide show will play during the reception.
Being able to plan such a special day with family and friends is always the best! =)

So far, I've enjoyed meeting up with my bridesmaids and maids of honor for and cocktails, conversation and commiserating! From setting a color scheme to visiting bridal stores and websites to making all those big decisions, you always want your friends and family around to give you the best advice. Trying to combine my Cuban heritage with his Midwestern one is going to be a challenge, but that's the beauty of bringing families together in such a memorable way.

My favorite part of planning my wedding was making that fact that my fiance and I made it all ours own and did so many DIY projects {we didn't just hire vendors do to everything for us}. I found the whole experience truly amazing. From making bookmaker photo booth picture holders to "chapters of our lives" book box table numbers {that were quite the keepsake} it was all a joy in planning the most special day in my life with my fiance and friends. I think this part was so special to me because for my fiance and I it truly made our wedding day all OURS. We were both involved in the decisions and creations. He was right there with me...crafting and all. It was something that we really put our hearts into and when all was said and done the day was sublimely perfect. Everytime we get compliments on our photos and the day now we think to ourselves....we did that. It makes it so special that we {together} made a such a fabulously, fun day...the whole day was a team effort for sure! <3

Seeing my family come together to help me plan my special day was my favorite part. Given the economy right now, we went from thinking we would be able to have a huge extravagant wedding to ending up doing a dessert reception with friends and family taking care of every detail. I am so grateful for the experience because out of it, we grew as a couple and our families and friends created more of a bond. The best part of it all is that I am now starting my own planning/floral design business because I enjoyed the planning so much.

So far (at six months to go before the wedding day) the best part of planning our wedding has been learning more about ourselves - our strengths & weaknesses - as individuals and as a couple. Wedding planning discussions have sparked conversations about marriage and how we want our marriage to be and how we're going to make it work. I love my fiance more now than I did when we got engaged almost one year ago.

By far my favorite part of planning our wedding was picking out my dress & bridesmaid dresses in New York City. All the best women in my life - my mom, my two best friends, my Aunt, cousin and grandma were all with me and I still get choked up when I think about how much it meant for them to be there with me. The dress even goes perfectly with my grandmother's veil that I am so happy to wear down the aisle. After I picked out the dress, I called my fiance to tell him. He was really genuinely excited, and even though I wouldn't tell him anything about what it looked like, he was really happy for me & it made the day complete. I can't wait for him to see it on the big day!

I can stop mid step into a full on day dream so being in the process of planning my wedding has been just that. Living in and planning a wedding in the mountains has been so much fun and challenging, so many activities to plan for my family and guests.

Picking the color palette was really fun thinking of all the potential, oh and the cake!

So far everything has been fun! Thankfully it's been stress-free, too (keeping fingers crossed). I think the favorite part so far though was seeing the invitation designs my sister made for us. She had multiple ideas and showed us a few we really liked, but then pulled up one and my fiance and I both had an 'ah ha' moment and absolutely love it. We're planning to use the design throughout the decoration -- which is going to continue the fun :-)

For me the best part of my wedding planning is coming up with small creative ideas that take me back to family hertiage and traditions and incoporating them in my special day.....

Other than my immediate family, my relatives live out of state, on our family ranch that is over 200 years old. The ranch house is this big, beautiful white home built by our ancestors. Several of my cousins and aunts were married on the huge front porch in the front yard, it was spectacular. I knew if I were to get married there, most our friends and fiance's family probably would not be able to make it up there. So I found the closest thing I could to it here in Houston.... The White House Ranch.

For my place cards/party favors I am making my grandmothers delicous raspberry jam recipe and creating small jars of jam with it. I plan on placing stickers on top with each guests name, as well as a small explanation of where the recipe came from. This jam will also be used as a light filling between cake layers.

My parents got the spelling of my name from The Beatles album "Abbey Road." My dad and I will be dancing to a Beatles song, but are still narrowing it down.

In memory of my grandfather, and my fiance's aunt we will be making small donations in each guests name to the American Cancer Society. Each guest will receive a small card explaining this with a personal message from the two of us.

A prayer will be read that was read at his parents wedding, and my great grandmother used to grow hydrangea in her garden which is one of the flowers we will be using most.

I feel that the true meaning of a wedding is not only two people joining their lives but also bringing together and blending two families. I hope these small ideas and more that I come up with will make the day special and memorable for both.

Wow, this is a hard question to answer because so many things related to our wedding that have been wonderful. I think the best part is the creativity/DIY that the wedding has given me. SMP has been the biggest inspiration for my decor and theme. I told myself for so long that I wanted to be crafty and work on some projects. After seeing so many DIY on stmp, I knew I wanted to incorporate those into my wedding. The wedding has inspired me to do so many DIY projects for our big day. I look forward to continue to be crafty after the wedding and inspire for new projects!

My family!!!! Though unconventional, my brother and best friend would be absolutely crushed if he was not my “man of honor”. As a former UVA football player, he is certainly the biggest MOH there has probably ever been. Also – we have asked my older sister to officiate so that she also has an important role in our nuptials. Everyone has been truly marvelous with helping me plan – especially since I am planning a destination wedding and dwell in NYC. Cheers to all in their planning – enjoy!

There have been so many great parts, from realizing how on-the-same-page my fiance & I are, to picking out food, to announcing out engagement. But the best part was asking a dear friend of mine to be our officiant. Her response warmed my heart and confirmed my choosing her to marry us. The toughest part is also a best part - my fiance & I work and think very differently, so it's been a challenge to be patient when discussing certain aspects of planning because we talk about them so differently. What a learning experience! I think, though, that it will help us as we move into the future as a married couple and face bigger challenges.

I just got engaged, and looking at the internet and the whole host of choices out there is more than a little overwhelming. Honestly, and I'm not just vying for a gift here (especially given I'm in Hawaii and any of those tickets would be wasted on me), the only real fun part of wedding planning thus far has been reading your website. All the brides look so happy, and the lighting is so perfect, and the details are so cute and elegant and beautiful. It gives me hope that my wedding can and will be the right combination of warm and intimate and beautiful, and that somehow, magically, it will all come together in the end. Or at least, with the right photographer, it will look like it. In fact, I may pull our (very tentative) April 2011 wedding date up a year just so that point comes quicker!

While I really enjoyed the dress hunt and designing my DIY invites and all paper goods for that matter, flowers (partially DIY)...I am reallllllyyy enjoying planning our cookie bar! We are going to do homemade cookies and name them after the bakers who are going to be myself, the moms and bridesmaids. Everything from the jars, the recipes, the names of the cookies is really exciting. We're also designing little take home bags for the cookies with a booklet of the recipes as a favor. Looping in an Alzheimers Association donation with it somehow too. Maybe a recipe of "hope" in the booklet.

I'm still in the early stages of planning, so mostly I'm just totally psyched to be getting married! I am really excited about getting to plan a super fun party that celebrates love and captures "us." I get to be creative and pick out pretty dresses and hot suits and yummy food and funky decorations and share it all with my favorite people.... I am loving that. I do have to say I adore my engagement ring... so far it's my favorite part. It was my fiancee's great grandmother's who passed away earlier this year. It's from the 1940's and so pretty... and so special.

The best part about planning our wedding so far has been working with my man to figure out all the fun and unique details we plan to incorporate to suit the event to our personalities, rather than convention. We want the event to be fun and memorable for everyone and make everyone feel involved in the actual event - rather than spectators. We have done everything DIY together and invited friends and family to participate in all the fun preparations! But crafts besides - music is a really big part of our lives - and picking out all the music to be played at the ceremony and the reception has been fun. We actually sent a challenge out to some of our friends to each set up 1/2 hour set lists for the reception - which will be played at the reception, and we plan to give a prize to the mix that gets the most people moving! All of it has been so fun, and I am so excited to see when the actual day comes together and be with everyone we love!

I am just starting the process of planning and I am honesty a little overwhelmed. I do enjoy looking at your blog and bridal magazines for inspiration. I have big dreams and ideas but I feel that I wont be able to achieve them on my budget. I am looking at various blogs and message boards so I can get ideas and advice from other brides. I envision once I get going that my favorite part will be looking for my dress and preparing the special little details.

My favorite part so far has been spreading the love. It makes me so happy to talk to my friends and family about my fiance and our future life together. Our wedding will be one filled with friends, family, and our love for each other. When I think about our Winter 2011 wedding, I can't stop smiling!

Talking to friends, sharing traditions with family members, and knowing that I found the right one for me is my favorite part about wedding planning.

After more than seven years together, my boyfriend got down on his knee at midnight on New Year's Eve and asked me to marry him. We decided to get right to the planning and set a date for this August. We knew with such a close date we'd have to act fast and that things could get hectic, so we sat down and made a list of things to remember: Slow down, and enjoy it. It's a celebration of our love, not a show. And at the end of the day, we'll each be married to our best friend. This has been the single most important and lovely part of our wedding planning so far.

The best part of my wedding planning has been the stuff I was able to do with my Mom. She passed away about a week ago and I will forever cherish the time we spent together planning the details. She was diagnoised with cancer about one month after I was engaged. Even through all the difficult treatments she made time to help me with the wedding planning. I think it helped both of get through the year. Every doctor's appointment she said I need to make it to my daugter's wedding. When I tried to move up the date, she said no way, you need to have the wedding you planned and I will be there somehow. I will miss her so much on that day (and always) but it is nice to know that she had a chance to help me pick my beautiful dress and my reception venue; she saw our amazing save the dates and the bridesmaids dresses; she helped choose the band and the flowers. I'm so happy to have done all this with her and will always remember those times as the best part of wedding planning for me.

PS I will not be in PB for the event (although I would love to) but i do live in NYC and would love to attend the Feb event.

i honestly think the BEST part of planning my wedding were the little details. once the awe of booking the ballroom, band, finding the dress, lighting, picking out perfect invites went away those are the things i got to put both of our personalities in. it was the little things that our guests would remember.

if i could do it all over again i would completely change EVERYTHING! :) i would do an outside simple garden wedding with a marie antoinette inspired whimsical feel. only my closest friends & family. oh how i wish i could rewind time & plan everything again. :)

oh & i would make sure that my cake didn't hit the floor!! :(

The best part about planning my wedding, so far, has been working together with my fiance to pick out the place, the menu, the main events. He really wanted to get involved with the planning process, and he has amazed me and helped to take some of the load and pressure off of me. I have loved seeing the two of us come together and work with both of our families. We do not always get along well with our respective families and it has been wonderful to even see our families come together and work well alongside the two of us. I feel really blessed to have our relationship strengthened during this exciting (and sometimes stressful) time. It reassures me that he and I are going to have a great life together, and that is what the wedding is celebrating!!

PS: NYC for me please! (although warm weather would be lovely right about now)

I LOVED every part of planning my wedding! Of course it can be stressful at times but, as all brides want, I wanted every fine detail to be present. The ideas were all mine own but it was really a family effort. My cousin is a graphic designer who took me step by step in all of the paper details. Then my uncle printed them all at his printing company. Every Tuesday my mom and I called it "Bridal Tuesday" where we scheduled all of our appointments and errands. I would have to say those days were the best! After the wedding and a few years later, I got pregnant and we turned them into "Baby Tuesdays"!

Oh yeah, I also made these crystal napkin holders that took forever and were a big pain! My guests took them home and when i came to visit my friends and family, I loved seeing where they ended up. Some were hanging form their windows, others lamps or a bedpost. My favorite was seeing one hanging from their rear view mirror. Just subtle, beautiful reminders of an extraordinary day!

It is a funny thing to be a wedding photographer and a bride. I love what I do, and I get so involved in my brides weddings that I have had to keep reminding myself that I am a bride as well, and yes, I need to do some planning!! Since I work on weddings all day I sometimes feel that counts as wedding work towards my wedding too right?? Ha, not really!! While the bulk of my planning was taken care of over the summer (our slow wedding season in south florida) I still need to spend a lot of time with the details. I have a blast brainstorming to have a very unique ranch black tie affair in Nevada (my home state), and will be so excited to see it all come together. One of my favorite planning pieces so far was inviting a handful of the women, close family and friends, to go to antique markets, stores and get 10 unique vintage plates. They will be from all over the country and used on the table settings. So great to see what they have come up with and it got everyone involved!

The engagement pictures and planning out that session with my photographer.
Getting those done and seeing the final product made it just a bit more real, kind of like our declaration that "yes, we' really are getting married!" We had a 12 month engagement so it geared us up for the final stretch, counting down the days. I also loved how it portrayed us as a couple and our style. So excited to incorporate them into the reception.

I love hearing all the amazing stories that brides have their wedding planning experiences. Truly inspiring! We look forward to seeing you all in Palm Beach or NYC at our Wedding Party. If you receive a free ticket, or attend on your own dime, please look for me and say hello! But above all, have a great time preparing for your special day.

I would say the best part of wedding planning for me is shopping for wedding decor.I have ecletic taste..rustic..vintage...romantic you might as well say a little bit of everything thrown in.I like viewing different wedding blogs to get so many ideas for decorating the wedding and reception area.I swear there is not a day that goes by that I don't learn something or find a new piece of decor that I fall in love with.I'm a budget bride so I enjoy shopping on craigslist...consignment stores and buying things from other brides.Very exciting.I always find good deals and a lot of cute stuff. My fiance thinks I'm wedding crazy but I love it.I'm just wondering what am I gonna do with my life once the wedding is over lol.

The best part so far has been planning out decorations and centerpieces with my bridesmaids. They have some awesome ideas and I know it will make our venue look amazing. The second best part has been tasting food!

    NYC for me please....

The best part for me has been planning the whole "feel" of the reception. We're having it outdoors, in a historic garden, and I'm having so much fun putting everything together. This totally surprised me, because it seems like most brides hate this part!

I am really enjoying most of the wedding planning but if I had to pick one thing - or two :) if would be 1) the DRESS...I'm having my dress made by a friend so the trip the Vogue Fabric in Chicago with my friend and my mom was wonderful. We looked through rows and rows of fabrics from lace, satin, taffata, beads, pearls, embellishments and finally landed on the fabric. It's really tough when you don't know what the final product will look like but it's also really exciting b/c you get to design your own dress. You can take the top of one dress you like and the bottom of another and make the perfect dress for you.
    2) The location selection - we had no idea where we wanted to get married so we considered all the locations we love and that have special meaning to us. We landed on Hood River, OR but it was so fun to walk down memory land and look at all the places we love.

I'm in FL so I hope I win - I'd love to attend this event!

The best part of planning our wedding was when I looked at him and said "let's elope!" and he totally agreed. From then on, the wedding planning was fun because we can plan out every detail to have special meaning to us, instead of catering to everyone else's desires. Now, we are planning a "weddingmoon" in Scotland, followed by a progressive wedding reception with our families upon our return. An East coast beach party with my family and old friends, and an Alice-themed garden tea party in the midwest for his family and our shared coworkers and friends!

I have a new and dangerous fetish --- I've become officially addicted to gorgeous wedding websites, espcially Style Me Pretty. The unbelivable quality of pictures and the range of weddings presented
have been pure eye candy. Everyday that I log on is an adventure and journey down the road of romance and creativity. My heart has screamed "I want," many times after seeing another pair of knock-out shoes!!! and insanely gorgeous centerpieces. While my budget can't afford many a shoe or Harry Winston Ring, Style Me Pretty has inspired us to add our own personal touches for our big Polish wedding. My fiance's grandmother will be painting our wedding cake toppers - wooden stackable Polish Mamaushka dolls of a Bride & Groom and an accoridanist will be waltzing me down the aisle. Thanks SMP - now here comes the Bride!

Please send me tickets to NYC in Feb!

I could shop all over again for my dress. I got all weepy and emotional when finding "the dress" and I think I made a decision based on fears of not finding anything else. I loved what I bought but I should have kept looking, and I should have waited till my Mother and Sisters could be present to share the experience.

After all, you only get one dress (hopefully)!!! I think I would have gone with more lace, and less of a princess ballgown. There are so many options now, and the web was not in full swing when I was getting married. There is so much you can do online now, and it makes for a better shopping experience. Look how far weddings have come since the early 2000's! A lot changes in a decade, and it would be so fun to plan over again with the sharing of info on blogs and inspiration sites - there is so much of it now that a bride can really get creative and be unique!

The best part about planning our wedding is discovering the hidden talents our family and friends have! I never knew my fiancé’s grandmother was such an awesome calligrapher! Everyone is so eager and excited to help us plan our big day, which at first was a little intimidating to me being such a strong type “A” personality, I tend to want to do things myself rather than ask others for help. After looking around for different vendors to hire, we decided it will be more meaningful to use the skills our family and friends already have to help us pull the event together. It is fun incorporating family and close friends into out planning and fun discovering their secret talents!

Many little girls planned there wedding from a young age while playing with dolls, but during my childhood I was off running through the woods, playing cowboys and indians in rural Alabama. Now, I get to have the joy of discovering my true favorites, my true loves, and that is a great gift! The best part of the planning process has been learning about the desires of my own heart and then trying to make them into reality. Finding the perfect touches, whether its the right antique silver candleholder in an opportunity shop or designing the sweetest menu made from vintage dance cards, each will make our wedding be remembered as it speaks softly about me and my fiance. I am so excited to see our thoughts come to life, even if slightly imperfect, just like me!

First of all, I am seriously obsessed with planning our wedding--to the point that I jump and skip around our apartment like an 8-year old girl when I think of new ideas, or get a new wedding magazine in the mail! I think my fiance loves watching how excited I am--and how much I love planning---almost as much as he loves watching Sunday football (ok...maybe not that much)! Anyway, if I HAD to choose my favorite part of the planning, it would be the ability to be creative in in designing the event and in designing the way that we'll commit ourselves to each other for the rest of our lives. It is really important to both of us that we have a beautiful and classy wedding, that is also special and unique. We are loving the process of thinking of creative and unique aspects to incorporate into the ceremony as well as the party. I keep a running list on my computer of all the cute and special ideas I read about (most often on SMP :)) and I seriously love going through it and imagining how we can incorporate the ideas into our wedding. I know the worst part is going to be deciding what ideas we will and won't ultimately use (whether due to not wanting something way over the top....or due to monetary constraints). But, regardless of the end product, which I know will be amazing and special, the process of reading and thinking about all of these ideas is so much fun and makes me feel like a true pricess planning her fairytale story.

I absolutely love everything about the wedding planning process!!! I get to put on the most spectacular event of my life (with the help of my loving parents) that is all about me and my fiancee! Every detail that we are choosing mirrors us as a couple and each detail has been chosen with love!....If that isn't enough...I also absolutely loved shopping for my dress -- it was like every little girl's dream!!!!

I love the blending of my fiance's family and my own. Even though we've been together for 7 years our families just met in December. I couldn't be happier! It was great spending the holidays with my real and chosen family in one place.

The best part of this process has been the opportunity of getting lost in creating the day that most girls have dreamt about their entire lives! We find ourselves thinking about and planning this day in our heads almost everyday whether we're at home, work, or in the shower. I enjoy planning, organizing and applying my creativity to something so exciting and beautiful. I sometimes think I've missed my calling, I truly enjoy everything that goes into making this day one to remember!

It's been wonderful planning with my fiance, and to learn how well we work together. We're still learning new things about each other through the planning process despite being together for nearly 5 years already. And every day we're planning is another reminder of the incredible love we share and how blessed we are with the friends and family in our lives.

My wedding is a destination wedding so the most exciting (but also the most difficult) was to choose the city and venue that could make everyone happy... if that's ever possible!
We started travelling around the Caribbean (we live in Miami) hopping to fall in love with an island, culture or sunset. After all this beautiful travels, we ended up having a crush on a little restaurant in Isla Morada in the Keys.... only 2 hours drive away. We loved it so much that there was no hesitation.

The best of planning my wedding was securing our venue -- The Sarah P. Duke Gardens. There is a crazy tradition at Duke to camp out as reservations for wedding dates become available a year in advance, at 8:00 a.m. on the first of each month, first come first served. We knew we wanted to get married over Labor Day weekend the next year, a highly competitive date. Despite a hurricane approaching (literally), my best friend drove me to North Carolina from Washington, DC the night before and my twin sister flew in from California and met us in the parking lot. We were second in line!! We had a slumber party in the back of the car during the hurricane and watched as more and more dedicated brides and their entourages arrived during the night. It was the craziest and best part of planning my wedding. I couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else!
P.S. My loving husband said if I win free tickets I have a green light to splurge on airfare as my birthday present -- isn't he the best?! Plus, I love The Breakers and need an escape from the snow! I'm crossing my fingers as I'd love to meet Abby in Palm Beach!

I absolutely, down to my core, without a doubt, adore the finer things in life! I just can’t help myself; I am a self proclaimed style guru who fascinates over the littlest of details. And the panning of my very own wedding was the one moment in my life when I could transpire to others the sincerity of my deep obsession. I like to call it my Cinderella moment! With a bit of hard work, faith, trust, and pixie dust all things are possible!

As a hands-on bride, I was involved in every aspect and every little detail of the planning of my wedding. Almost every project was DIY, from the invitations, to centerpieces, to our unique French-themed candy buffet station. My heart and soul was poured into the planning of my wedding and it was truly the happiest day of my life. When I think back to our special day, I’ll forever cherish the sacred moment my husband and I shared as we descended down the staircase into our ballroom upon the many “fruits of our labor” so-to-speak. All that we had dreamt of for our wedding was finally translated into reality for the world to see.

I've been engaged for two years, but we still don't have a definite wedding date set yet. That's not to say that I haven't spent much of those two years scrolling through wedding blogs though! The bad part about having a lot of time to plan a wedding is that I've bookmarked all the invitations and wedding dresses I've found in the past two years and now I have to wade through them and make definition choices!

**Finding an Eco-friendly wedding dress for a green wedding**

I am having a brilliant time searching for the perfect eco-friendly dress. Who would have known there are eco-friendly wedding dress designers out there? Here are some of my favs so far:
Gwendolyn Gleason, Chrissy Wai-Ching, Morgan Boszilkov, Deborah Lindquist and Olivia Luca.

I could use two tickets to the NYC event, as I cannot make it to Palm Beach.

    Thank you SMP!

Caveat - I would love a NYC ticket (that's where I live and where I am getting married) if you have one of those up for grabs.

The best part about planning my wedding is gathering inspiration. I am constantly on blog patrol, looking for images that inspire me. I have my Martha Stewart Weddings by the bed, and a file folder full of tear sheets from magazines dating back to high school!

the best part is that I get to take in all these lovely ideas, and distill them down to the few that really suit the personalities of me and my fiancee, and I get to go to him to get his input, so that we can choose the things that we care about, are important to us, and what we think most represents us as a couple. It is working together (but also weeding out anything that I don't love before he even sees it!)

My fav aspect of planning my wedding so far has been thinking about ways to incorporate my style and my city's charm into every part of the wedding. My fiance and have been together for over 7 years and we are super excited for all our friends and family to come together in the city we love so much and live in, Savannah, GA. Local Vendors we are using are Nourish (to make the perfect scented candles for our room gifts), the Savannah Bee Company (sweet wedding favors), our caterer works with local organic farmers. I have waited for this time for a very long time and it's going great so far, can't wait till october!
