Holiday Wedding Inspiration by Lucinda Wesson

December 17th. 2009 by Abby Larson | Filed Under | 41 comments

Today is another sparkly, glittery, all together lovely day on Style Me Pretty. Since weddings are winding down for the year, we thought it would be fun to feature a stunning, holiday inspired photoshoot that a handful of our favorite vendors designed just for SMP.

I have a huge soft spot in my heart for our Connecticut Vendors as they are just this rare little group of designers who are continually putting out some of the most incredible work in the industry. Today, we get the sheer pleasure of devouring a photoshoot that Lucinda Wesson of Chocolate Creative Design designed, along Sarah True and Yumiko Fletcher of Hana Floral Design and a whole slew of insanely creative professionals (full list below).

A few details from Lucinda… As designers, we are constantly trying to push ourselves. Deeply inspired by an intimate wedding of 50 at Island Farm that I co-designed this past fall, I thought about an intimate winter wedding inside the “Big House” on the Island.

So in choosing a color palette of creams, golds, purples and pops of turquoise, it allowed me to design a non-cliché winter wedding. Using various shades of each color, gave a richness and luxuriousness to the surroundings and by bringing in a multitude of textures and layering them gave it a casual elegance. The fashion was just as important and each piece was carefully selected to add color and sparkle to the table.

I was so fortunate to have teamed up with Tove Vigen of Tova’s Vintage in Westbrook, CT. I love the idea of mixing vintage clothing with modern elements. By combining the jeweled vintage dresses with bright tights it really gave the ladies a unique and modern look. Tove outfitted three of the ladies in her own collection of dresses as well as adding a unique piece of jewelry to each model (including men and kids). The men wore their own suits but were each given a bright silk purple tie to add color to their dark suits. H & M, Children’s Place, Target and the Gap outfitted the children. The girl’s shoes each got a satin ribbon to add more color and texture to their already sequined shoes. The bride wore a delectable lace and beaded strapless gown with hand glittered heels and a real fox stole, cheerfully named Max.

Christina-Those tights are sold at Forever 21. They have the best array of tights around!!

  13. True Event says:

They have fabulous purple lacey stockings at anthropologie, and I actually picked up a really inexpensive pair at forever 21 recently.

  14. The shots of the children are my favorite! Love the photo of the boy and girl under the table—too cute!

  15. Rachel says:

The purple is a very nice twist to the traditional winter wedding colors (red, gold, white). Like it!

  17. Jessica says:

This wedding is completely gorgeous!! It's my favorite yet and I'm an everyday avid SMP reader who tends to swoon over every pretty detail but this is beyond pretty. Her glimmery gold dress and fur accents are to die for. It makes me want to push my June wedding to the chillier season! So pretty!

    xo

  18. So pretty! Love the purple! Beautiful images, Anna! What a fabulous collaboration!

  19. Lori says:

Beautiful! except for the real fur :(

  20. Lucinda says:

Real Fur is hard...I know I'm a real animal lover...but all the furs on the shoot were vintage...One of the white ones (not Max) was my great grandmother's and was later used as a blanket to warm me in my carriage as a baby. It was nice to have her there with me...

*there were no animals harmed in the production of this shoot..

  21. Catherine says:

is the dress vintage, or can I track it down? it's GORGEOUS!

  22. Megan says:

The flowers are B-E-autiful!!! What are the flowers that they used?

  23. Serena says:

Stunning images except for the use of real fur. I'm so sorry but I don't think fur in any way, shape or form is anything but an animals life used for meaningless decoration.
I do hope no SMP brides are now inspired to use real fur in their own weddings.
Thanks Lucinda for mentioning the origin of the fur, it makes it much easier to be able to appreciate your beautiful work.

  24. Lucinda says:

Hi Catherine-Isn't the dress beyond gorgeous!!! I love the way the light hits it. It is from Tove Vigen's personal collection but I'm sure if you contact her or go visit her store Tova's Vintage she could find something similar...

  25. Anna Sawin says:

I'm so happy to see how many people are loving the originality and clever spark of Lucinda's vision, go Chocolate Creative Design!

  26. Jennie Fresa says:

just lovely! happy to be a part of this amazing shoot.

  27. yumiko says:

hi Megan~ thanks so much for the compliment! We used various white flowers for table scape, dessert table and such, and those were: spider and football mums, oriental lilies, amaryllis, paperwhites, carnations and roses. Many of these flowers were very popular back in the 40's. I wanted to stay true to the time period of the shoot.

As for her bouquet~ magenta peonies, pink garden roses, plum anemones, tulips, some andromeda and seeded eucalyptus, as well as some sparkly holiday tidbits!

As always, tons of fun working with my industry friends! We were thrilled to be a part!

  28. Jess says:

Gorgeous! I love her dress and all the different colors used-- so unexpected but beautiful!

  29. Lauren says:

I got married at Elihu Island last summer and Lucinda did an absolutely amazing job...everything was perfect! I also had the honor of having Sophie, the flower girl in this wedding, as the actual flower girl (along with her sister Xiao-Yin) in my wedding as well. Amazing job Lucinda!

  32. Lex Cut says:

Ps This shoot is magical and very inspirational!!
