The most memorable invitation I've ever received was a beautiful chocolate and lime letter press invitation for a wedding in Mexico. It even had the couples initials incorporated into the lime logo...I saved it it was so gorgeous!

  2. Jen says:

Beautiful book! The most memorable invitation I have ever received was printed all over with red poppies, which was significant to the bride because her grandmother had done some paintings of poppies that had been on display in local Michigan galleries. The card was white and was mounted on silver paper and sent in a black envelope. It was sweet and fun and different and a total reflection of the look and feel of the wedding.

  3. Libby James says:

The most memorable invitation I ever recieved was a DVD save the date. The DVD was un-marked so you had no idea what it really was until you watched it. The couple did a short video which was funny and clever and at the end there were instructions on how to open the DVD case and get the letterpress invite out. It was awesome.

  4. Celiz says:

The most memorable invitation I have ever received was a beautiful embroidered fabric invitation. It was a an english garden inspired wedding and the fabric was a gorgeous vintage floral design. So beautiful!!!

  5. Nichole says:

A: The most memorable invitation I've ever received came in a tube of cardboard. Rolled up inside was a scroll tied with a velvet ribbon, announcing the wedding of our two dear friends, Julie and Jay, and a masquerade ball to follow. The font was so midieval and captivating, and the invitation took me away to another world and time. I squealed with excitement. The wedding itself did not disappoint either. It was magical.

  6. Roseanna says:

Some friends of mine used a peacock theme in color only. The invitations were a beautiful layering if deep blues, greens, and purples, and were hand caligraphed in metallic ink. So rich and gorgeous!

  7. Meghan says:

Most memorable? A single sheet tea length invite that had a paisley monogram that had been custom designed for the couple by a friend of the bride in their wedding (fall) colors. So unique and gorgeous! :) It was incorporated into the programs at the ceremony as well.

  8. Tracey says:

The most memorable invitation I received was a handkerchief save the date. The wedding was English Garden theme so this fit perfect. The details of the wedding were embroidered in the handkerchief. What was more amazing was the fact that the brides grandmother did all of the embroidery. Very original and clever at the same time.

  9. Sarah says:

The most memorable invitation I received was one that I'd help my friend, the bride, put together - it was great to see how our hours spend gluing came together in the mailbox!

What a gorgeous book - perfect to display during the next ten months of my engagement.

  10. Amanda says:

When I recieved the invitation to our friends' wedding I was floored. It had the most beautiful letterpress in the most gorgeous navy blue color (which is my favorite!). Classic typeography, gorgeous ribbon and unbelievable calligraphy on the front! I felt like I was invited to Buckingham Palace! Part of the reason this invite was so special was the people who were getting married, and the other part was the sheer elegance and formality of the invitation.

  11. Lauren says:

By far, my most memorable invitation moment was when I received the "Moulin Rouge" themed invitation for my friends wedding. It was completely glammed out with rhinestones and feathers and the actual invitation was written like a play script. It was so unique and different and completely reminded me of the couple!

  12. Anna Sawin says:

A letterpress invitation made by the bride and groom themselves--they had the plate made and created them.
Inspired us to do the same for our wedding--we sought out a wonderful hobbyist who helped us make our letterpress dream come true!

  13. nicole b. says:

Oooh, this book looks and sounds amazing! Thanks for the chance to win. The most memorable invitations are the ones I will send out for my wedding in September. They were made by the very talented Sarah Drake.

  14. Elizabeth Birchmore says:

The most memorable invitation I ever received was to my Aunt's first wedding at 65 years old. She has been alone her whole life and then one day, wham, she feel in love and her life changed forever. She actually fell unexpectedly in love with a woman! This was very hard on her parents who still do not recognize their union, but EVERYONE else in our family gathered around to celebrate this new joy and new family member. Their invitations were each hand painted by a friend of theirs and only went out to 25 people so they were each sealed lovingly and were each unique. Their vow were also painted by the same woman and hang in their home today. With my wedding coming this summer, both of my aunts have gifted me with the chance to frame my vows in the same fashion (with the same artist) and my Aunt will be the one marrying me and my husband to be this summer. The love keeps coming!!
I would love to add this book to my home as I work to honor age old traditions with new ones!
    Thank you!

  15. MaryBeth says:

The most memorable invitation that i received was from my best friend which was an gorgeous white and ivory floral design - simply elegant just like her. While i was so touched being asked to be maid of honor, when I opened the beautiful invitation, it reminded me of all we had been through as 'single gals' over the years - the endless chats about life, wondering what the future holds and mostly hoping to find true love! My eyes welled up with happy tears as I realized that her dream was coming true - I couldn't have been happier for anyone else in the world at that moment!

  16. Lindsey says:

Not very many of my friends or relatives have gotten married yet, so I haven't received that many actual invitations. So I would have to say that the most memorable invitation I have ever received was my fiance's invitation to marry him. I might be stretching the rules a bit, but that's the one I will always remember. We'd gone out to a beautiful dinner, where he had planned to propose, until the food made me sick and we had to leave dinner early. Not one to be deterred, when we were about a block from my apartment, he announced that he couldn't wait anymore and dropped to one knee right there on a dirty, smelly, unremarkable Manhattan sidewalk and invited me to spend the rest of my life with him. Hopefully the invitations to our wedding, which my dad is designing, will be almost as good :)

  17. Jen says:

The most memorable was a beautiful mocha and ivory pocketfold set. I'm not usually a pocketfold kind of girl, but these were beautiful!

  18. Colleen says:

The most memorable invitation I ever received was memorable for all the wrong reasons...I got invited to a wedding via Facebook! The couple was having a destination wedding in the city where I was living, so getting invited via fb two days before definitely gave me the feeling that I was a B List guest.

  19. erin g says:

a friend sent out invitations to her intimate afternoon wedding on a linen tea towel... a graceful silhouette of a tree had been screenprinted onto the towel, with the event details below. it's beauty and elegance was a symbol of the wedding to come and not to mention, a lovely keepsake.

  20. Taylor says:

For a graduation party of mine my mom made custom plates, each unique with a different childhood photo on them and sent them out as invitations to all my guests. Each guest brought their plate to the party and it was a complete suprise to me. They were adorable and made for an amazing set of plates that mother now has hung on the wall.

  21. Anna McBath says:

A barista and fashion designer friends of mine were married this year. Their invitations were absolutely adorable and suited them! They were ALL handmade cloth and paper invitations in naturals and brown colors. The couple even screenprinted them all by hand. And the final touch (which I have no idea how they did this!): the invitation smelled like oh-so-delicious coffee!!! I know so much time was put into them and they turned out so lovely!

  22. Thelma says:

The most memorable invitation I have ever received was so long ago I can't even hardly remember who it came from but what i do remember is that it really caught my eye and made a lasting impression because it consisted of beautiful real pressed flowers.

  23. Kimberly says:

Does it have to be a paper invitation? The most memorable invitation I ever got was when my best friend asked me to be her maid of honor. Of course we had talked about being in each others' weddings for years, but that was before she got engaged. After she became affianced we got together for brunch so she could tell me all about it. About halfway through talking about the wedding plans, she said in passing, as if it was nothing, "Oh, and you're officially my Maid of Honor." To me it just showed how much or friendship meant, as if there was no question about it. Even when you're best friends, it still means a lot.

If you mean a paper invitation....I suppose that would be my friends Chris and Gina's invitation. It was just a simple ivory pearlescent paper with a light green leaf outlined in a couple corners with a warm brown cardstock border. It was a great fall wedding invitation that, to me, exuded the feeling of warmth and an intimate gathering. Chris is one of my best friends, and I've seen him go through a lot. So, to see everything finally coming together for him with his career and personal life (which are tied together) filled me with the greatest joy! (He met his wife, a nurse, when he was doing CNA work to buff up his resume for med school. He had applied previously and not been accepted. At his wedding, he talked about how not getting in the first time was the best thing that ever happened, and was meant to be, because it allowed him to meet Gina. He is very private, so for him to say that to everyone present put tears in my eyes.)

  24. Melissa says:

The phone call from two of our closest friends that invited us to the court house to witness their vows. We were 2 of 8 people there, the only non family members.

  25. Tifa says:

My own! I designed, printed and assembled some really lovely baby shower invites for a good friend and I figured since I made them I wouldn't need to get one in the mail. I was very surprised to get one with a hand-written note inside thanking me for all the hard work!

  26. Stephanie says:

My sisters wedding invite! she is an artist so she painted her own invites. Besides being a beautiful invitation, I just remember thinking, wow, my little sister. She's getting married! And even though I knew all the details and everything already, getting that invitation in the mail made it seem real all the sudden.

  27. Mary says:

The most memorable invite I've received was to a 'shoe-themed' bridal shower. It was turquoise and shaped like a shoe, too cute. All the attendees were to wear their fanciest shoes, it was really a fun idea.

  28. Mary Beth says:

By far the most beautiful invitation I've seen is one that was hand-made for my friend's wedding. Her brother hand cut and designed the most beautiful invitation!! On it was the adage "Live, Love, Laugh" along with a whimsical couple and you opened to the most beautiful font digitally printed on vellum. We joke that he should start his own party planning business... he is seriously talented!! I think he also created the table numbers and various other components of her beautiful autumn wedding.

  29. Maria says:

    The photo above is breathtaking!

The most memorable invite was probably one of the simplest. It was a thick ivory cloth-like paper with a beautifully letterpressed gray scripted font. The edges were rounded and painted silver, which matched the envelope liner. The envelopes were all addressed with calligraphy. It was beautifully simple and elegant, but you could sense the time and love invested into the invites.

  30. The most memorable invitation I received was from my older sister. I only have one sibling and the sentimental nature of the event made the actual receiving of the invitation memorable. The invitation itself was a lovely shade of pool blue, black and silver with lovely borders and fonts. I still keep it for memories and I'm so happy for my sister!

  31. Emily says:

I love SMP and all the giveaways! Such an amazing book! My most memorable invitation was to a baby shower, not a wedding, but another very special moment in a girl's life. It was a small close knit group of friends. One of the girls throwing the shower actually baked little cakes , filled the boxes with baby sprinkles that fell out everywhere as you opened it and underneath the cake were all the details about the shower. So cute...I'm such a sweets girl (what girl isn't, though?) and the fact that I just HAD to eat the whole cake to get to the information didn't bother me one bit. I guess I could have just moved the cake, but eating it was a little more fun! It's such a great fun memory of a special time for a dear friend.

  32. My most memorable invitation that I have ever received was from a wedding I went to this summer. These friends are really fun and had different blanks on the RSVP for us to write our own exclamations and adjectives, similar to a mad lib. So fun and probably a lot of fun for them to read as they received rsvps from their friends and family.

  33. Jes says:

The most memorable invitation I ever received was to a gathering celebrating the life of one of my dearest friends who passed away when we were quite young. The invitation included wording and photos of all of the memories each person invited had shared previously on the website his mother created. The invitation was somewhat of a keepsake and tangible item that represented the friend, brother, son, uncle for those of us left behind and of the person we will always remember.

  34. Marie says:

I am pretty young, and though I have attended many family weddings, I have never actually received an invitation for myself personally. So in terms of physical inviations, I would have to say I haven't received one that really wowed me.

But if you will allow me to get a bit more sentimental, I would say that the best "invitation" I have received to date would be from my big brother (who will be married in May 2010 to an incredible woman) when he asked me to be his "best man."

The story is as follows - Last Christmas, my brother announced at dinner that he was planning to propose to his then girlfriend of two years. After dinner, he and I sat in the living room in front of the tree and talked about his decision. At the time, I had been in a serious relationship with my boyfriend (now fiance) for 6.5 years. When my brother asked me who I would want in my wedding, I told him I had thought I would like him to be my "witness" (or my "maid of honor"), my reasoning being that I would like the most important person in my life to witness the most important day in my life. He laughed at the idea! About a month later, he called me to tell me he was engaged, and then asked if I would be his best man. So in May 2010, I will stand next to my big brother when he says "I do" (and in August 2010 he will do the same for me!).

  35. I would love to win, however I just had to pop in!

Christine and I go WAAAAAAAY back in the 'custom wedding invitation' world. xoxoxoxo I just had to say .:: Hello friend! ::.

  36. stephanie says:

The most memorable invitation I received was for a couple of friends of mine who are big dog people. The invitation was written as if their dogs were the ones giving away their owners ("Buddy Smith together with Benny Jones are pleased to announce the marriage of their owners Shannon and Doug"). It was super unique and include paw prints.
The wedding took place at a family farm and guests were encouraged to bring their own pooches as both Buddy and Benny were in attendance at the wedding.
    Very unique and definately memorable!

  37. Carla says:

The most amazing inviattion I have received was to a really good friends wedding. It was simple, heavy ecru colored card stock and hand calligraphered in a beautiful gold script. It was special because it was a letter that said Dear Carla (and my fiance) gave the deatils about the wedding and was signed by the couple Love, X and Y. It was such a warm invitation and made you feel like you were being invited to witness something really special. I think the simplicity of it showcased what was really important and that was thier love for each other and for all the guests who they invited to join them.

  38. Hillary says:

i haven't actually received very many memorable wedding invitations. but for overall invitations, the most memorable would be an invitation that i made in photoshop for my fiance and his best friend's birthday party. they have been friends forever and i have photos spanning the years. it was my first time making something in photoshop, and i am so proud of how it turned out!

  39. Katy says:

My best friend and I had a poker party at our house, she handmade these beautiful invitations made with real play cards and poker chips. They were amazing.

  40. Laura says:

The most memorable invitation I received was to a friend's wedding that occurred on the shores of Lake George. It was a fold-up invitation done in the colors of the wedding, orange and gold. Each section had a reproduction of a different vintage postcard of the beach where the ceremony was to be held that flipped up to reveal the wedding details. It was fun and elegant and really got everyone into the mood of a romantic outdoor wedding.

  41. Marie says:

The most memorable invitation I received was probably the one for my fiance's brother's wedding. He and his wife had a lovely wedding in Colorado and the invitation reflected both the location and the low-key nature of the event and the couple. It was printed on tan cardstock with a pinecone centered at the top. Charming, not overly fussy, and perfect for the event.

  42. Angela Eliardi says:

The most memorable invitation that I received was the "Message in the Bottle" invitation. The invitation itself was simple, but the idea was good. The invitation was inserted in the bottle, and the bride puts colored glass stones and crystal inside.

  43. Christie says:

The most memorable invitation I received was a handmade wedding invitation in cream, black, and red. The bride is an artist and had created a monogram and had it turned into a stamp, which she then used on the invitation along with a red rose stamp. Then she tied a gorgeous black ribbon around the whole lucious package. I know she put a lot of work into them, but they ended up looking amazing!

  44. cara says:

It's between two invites for me (out of the more than 20 I've attended!): for a destination wedding in Mexico, a box arrived as our invitation. Nestled inside was a Corona (mexican beer bottle) filled with a bit of sand, a rolled up note, and tied with raffia, it was so darling! The next, all the guests + I sharead with everyone we could: co-workers, family, strangers :D My friend was marrying into the Brady family, and their invite was a movie poster!! It was this darling photo of them kissing in a New York (where they live)park, titled "A Love Story," with a subtitle of "They knew it was much more than a hunch..." The credits at the bottom were even done in proper "font" style, listing the producer (the bride's dad!), director, etc. ROCK for both :)

  45. Rachel says:

The Most Memorable Invite Award must go to someone I know not because of style, but because of who it was from. My ex-boyfriend sent me an invitation to his wedding - something I will not be likely to forget!

  46. JulieAnne says:

Huge, heavy boxes arrive at my office in the arms of an insistent FedEx man that I, myself, not the normal package receiving crew, actually sign for them. I stared at them all day, saving that moment. That night, at home, I opened them. Nestled inside shredded craft paper, were gorgeous chocolate boxes, tied with mocha ribbons. Inside, arranged in packages of 25, wrapped inside beautiful paper, were my wedding invitations. Thick cream stock, letter pressed in persimmon and light gray, cards with all of the weekend's activities, sigh. And once the outsides of the similarly letter pressed envelopes were addressed by the calligrapher, and had color coordinating stamps affixed, I truly couldn't say I could describe much better, because MY name was on these ones. A promise of the beginning of a new life and a new family.

  47. Vicki says:

The most memorable was a boxed invitation full of raffia the invitation on top wrapped in beautiful glass beaded paper and toped with an orchid. It was like a little gift.

  48. Jamie says:

The most memorable invitation I received came from friends I used to perform with (musicals). They are still actively trying to pursue a career as actors, and decided to get married in a theater. The invitations came in the form of playbill programs. It was great! So colorful and creative.

  49. Coley says:

The most memorable invitiation I have ever received was to my aunt and uncle's 50th wedding anniversary. The invite was designed by her sister and although it wasn't the most elegant or creative, it was celebrating the marriage of two of the most hardworking, kindest, and faithful people I know. They have overcome so many obstacles in their life and are truly an inspiration of what a marriage should be. I hope that my fiance and I can be half as admirable as these two.

  50. sadie says:

The most memorable invitation was a new home invite with a mini copy of the house plan (complete with mark-ups) nailed onto a piece of wood - stating "we finally nailed it." Mailed in a little box with sawdust-like packaging.

  51. Mary says:

What a beautiful book for lots of inspiration! I was also inspired by an inviteation to an Indian friend's wedding. Not only was there lots of glitter affixed to the thick card stock, but upon opening the envelope a handful of confetti came falling out. It was exactly the surprise the bride and groom were hoping for and made me so excited for their big day!

  52. Jasper says:

My cousin got married in New York last summer. Living on the West Coast I was unable to attend, but loved the invitation. On a seperate sheet of earthy green his bride had hand drawn an adorable story map of how they met, including their home towns and a trail leading to the wedding venue. I looked at it again and again! For such a young couple (just 20 years each of them) it was cute and sophisticated.

  53. Nicole says:

The most memorable invitation I've ever received was a brown square invitation with hot pink and orange embellishments to my cousin's wedding in Philadelphia. Inside was a perfect little color-coordinated map and everything was handwritten!

  54. rachael says:

the most memorable invitation i have ever received was actually a beautiful letterpress save the date...cream, green and black with so many beautiful details! different fonts and sizes...oh my gosh, i wish i could find it!

  55. Laura says:

The most memorable invitation I've ever received was a pale pink, square letterpress invitation with a real press flower. In a time when so many people seem to be skimping on stationary, it was so refreshing to receive such a luxruious and unique invitation!

  56. Sue says:

The most memorable invitiation I've ever received was for one of my friend's baby showers...it was a mini baby bottle stuffed with a rolled piece of baby-themed paper (which detailed the party's where and when). Too precious!

  57. Jessica says:

I believe the most memorable invitation I've ever received was a simple hand drawn picture of my family from my little brother when he was 6 years old. He said he wanted me to be there for his birthday and made only a limited collection. I had it framed because honestly, it was that cute.

  58. Jenni says:

The invitation to my sisters wedding. She used the photos I had taken and I helped her make them! When I opened mine up it was filled with memories of those moments!

  59. RHOOC Bride says:

My most memorable wedding invitation is hands down a Math multiple choice wedding invitation! My high school friend’s favorite subject in school was math and she became a math teacher too. What she did was send post card clues with three questions about them but it was math related for example how long they were together with multiple choice answers, how many meatballs does she like on her spaghetti ..just random questions. The post cards were self addressed back to her. The bonus question was something that I had to guest and I know now that the answer didn’t matter it was just a way for her to send another card as the answer would be mentioned on the new card that would arrive ha! I received four post cards and the last one was the actual invitation with their names + = our wedding!

I think my friend’s idea would work on a small wedding because a large one would require a lot of time! I had fun playing along and had NO clue that the last post card would be a wedding invitation. Guests were told that we were helping her with her statistical data for their thesis ..they were both in grad school for their PHD’s ! Brilliant!

  60. Melanie M. says:

The most memorable invitation I have ever received was a baby pink letterpress card with a cherry blossom printed velum over the top secured with ribbon. The style and layout was so romantic and soft and was the perfect taste of how the following wedding would come together.

  61. Jaime says:

I received an amazing invitation for a birthday done in the theme of the opening sequence to the Star Wars films. The birthday girl had been a fan for years and one of our graphic artists friends put together a video invitation to celebrate her 40th. People were talking about it for weeks!

  62. Dominique says:

Fav invite came 'message in a bottle' style, complete with sand and a little sea shell. So cute!

  63. Hannah says:

The most memorable invitation I received was a simple, mass-produced invite from a dear young friend of mine. The invite was to her seventh birthday party - a Cheetah girls party no less - a pink purse with purple sparkle stripes, resembling cheetah stripes. It was so cute, so girly, so sparkly - everything my little friend is. Plus, I was one of the only friends invited who was NOT seven years old! A big honor!

  64. Anne says:

THe host memorable invitation I ever received was to my best friend's wedding . . . an ivory folded piece of stationary with black engraving. The absolute height of elegance in it's age old traditional air. I love all the beautiful letterpress and patterned invitations, but the old fashioned kind always take my breath away. The kind that would make Emily Post proud.

  65. Julia says:

The most memorable invitation I ever got was for a friend's wedding that takes place on a farm. They used vintage seed packed designs and incorporated them throughout!

  66. Elva says:

Earlier this year I recieved a beautiful baby shower invitation for a dear friend of mine in a thick metallic fushia envelope. My address information was done by hand calligraphy in pale yellow ink. The inside of the envelope was lined with yellow baby fleece that matched the lettering on the outside of the envelope. Enclosed was a pale pink baby bib that had all of the shower details embroidered on it with fushia lettering. It was the talk of the shower!

  67. Hmmm...well, I think the most memorable invitation thus far was one that I actually helped to create for a destintation bachelorette party we were planning for a close family friend. We used actual manila folders to create miniature manila folders with a top secret theme since the bride had no idea what was in store and we didn't want anyone else to ruin the surprise either since it was a cruise to Mexico!. We used miniature sheets of lined paper cut to fit inside the mini manila folder held together with small metal fasteners so it looks like a mini case file. We then used the tiny post it's placed randomly throughout the paper and on the folder with some of the details (date range, and that you had to be willing to travel out of the country). We topped it all off by stamping the classic "top secret" stamp across the front in red ink. It's still to date one of my favorite invitations ev-er!

  68. katherine m says:

My friend had a designer friend do her invites. They were just beautiful. I loved how there were many layers that opened up to revel a new part of the invite. The colors were rich and beautiful. Plus it was one of a kind!

  69. THANK YOU CHRISTINE for this beautiful gift!!
My most memorable wedding invite I have ever recieved was a the wedding invite from my Godfather's son, Alex & his wife. They did invitations that looked like they came straight from a photo booth, but put their spunk on it. They were beautiful, creative & totally THEM :) I smiled from ear to ear when I got it! I hope I find my own creative style that make people smile when they open ours. Our wedding is 08-2010. We still have yet to find "Our Style" invitations!
Merry Christmas & Happy New YEAR! xxxxx

  70. Melissa says:

The most memorable invitation I have ever received was actually for my own bridal shower. They were handmade by my maid of honor and were absolutely beautiful! They had layers of paper lace, pressed pansies and a gorgeous black damask background. They were so sweet and I loved knowing she took all the time to make them all by hand.

  71. Mimi S says:

The most memorable invitation i ever received was from a young couple, both of whom came from very wealthy families. I was expecting the wedding to be an opulent, expensive affair. When I received the invitation, i was so surprised! It was simple, colorful and not stuffy at all. It really set the tone for a lovely wedding, very warm, personable and easy-going, perfectly reflecting the personalities of the couple.

  72. amberrae says:

The most memorable invitation I've received...has to be for a birthday party that was on St. Patrick's Day. I received a leprechaun singing telegram while I was at work! The leprechaun sang a rhyming song about "a party and a pot o'gold" and then handed me the invitation. Based on the shade of red I turned, I'm sure it was quite memorable for everyone sitting around me too. Can't say that I've seen a singing, dancing leprechaun since :)

  73. Suzanne says:

The most memorable was a winter solstice/bacchanal invite to a mansion rented for the weekend by a fellow student in my graduate Drama school. The mansion was in the back woods of Connecticut and would be occupied solely by us crazy drama people. It promised to be a 72 hour extravaganza of intellectual debauchery - people were to "claim" rooms on a first come first serve basis and being that the entire Drama school had approximately 150 students, it was going to be a full house. Alot of stuff went down at that house. It was meant to be a holiday breather for folks who weren't going home for the holidays, or they were international and couldn't afford to fly overseas for a 1-week break since many of us students were still working on productions at the Repertory Theatre during our winter break. So it was meant to celebrate Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanza, New Year's and Solstice all in one. The invitation was memorable because of what it accomplished - an evocation of the kind of fantasy ball/gala/bacchanal we'd all read about in plays like The Tempest - and it was reserved for us. That was glamourous.

I recieved an invitation for the wedding of a family friend who's family is Indian. It was hand-made paper that was so brightly colored of lime green and pink. There was a teal and gold painted peacock on the front which is typical of Indian decor and it fit perfectly for the South Florida summer wedding they were having. Soo beautiful I'll never forget them!

The most memorable invitation I've received was from my best friend's wedding last year. She has just taken up the hobby of making stationary (so I knew it was going to be good) and it ended up looking really cool and fashion forward! I opened the envelope to a trifold of a green/brown color scheme and the main invite (in the middle) was made of wood! The letters were embossed (the wood was really light weight) and almost looked like someone had burned the words into the invite. So creative and unique. It worked perfectly with her forest wedding...

The most memorable invitation I received was the first invitation I had ever received. It was my best friend's (from first grade) 7th birthday party. Of course, it was the very generic, drugstore birthday party invitation with balloons and an R.S.V.P note to give back to the birthday girl. But I remember feeling so special and almost "grown-up" to be an invitee!

About half a year ago, my fiance and I received a wedding invitation for a family member's wedding. The invitation itself wasn't super special in any way, except that it was addressed to my fiance and I, not very long after we'd gotten engaged. Now I can't wait for the first Mr. and Mrs. addressed envelope!

  78. Lauren says:

The invitation to one of my friend's weddings was so beautiful! It was a Muslim wedding so there were lots of pieces with all kinds of new information on them. It was the most gorgeous paper though, so much nicer and more unique than anything I've seen!

So some of you may think it morbid, but I thought it was a wonderful invitation when my fourth grade teacher invited her friends and family to have a goodbye party. I was in my twenties at the time and she was dying from cancer and didn't have long, so she turned the end of her life into a celebration. There were hundreds of people at our home church. People brought pictures and shared memories, so although it was not a beautifully crafted invitation it was perhaps the most memorable.

The most memorable invitation I ever received was my first baby shower invitation. I had never had a good friend get pregnant, and I was so excited when I received her invitation in the mail! I got to go out and shop for all kinds of fun baby stuff, and it was so wonderful to be able to enjoy her pregnancy with her. She just had her little girl in November, and it is so magical to have been with her through the journey and now get to see her daughter in person.

The most beautiful wedding invitiation I've ever received was for a friends wedding in Athens, Greece. A truly international romance, my friends met while studying in the United Kingdom, moved to Canada to pursue their passions (the groom's home) and married in the bride's hometown. The invitation was in English and Greek, and broke the Greek tradition of using either pink or blue for the lettering colour. Their selection - olive- in a modern typeface was a shock to the bride's mother, but was a perfect reflection of the two. They followed their formal invite with a second invite to a renewal of vows one month later in the groom's small hometown. A completely seperate affair - this time held in a small farming community over two days. The renewal invite reflected the casual affair they envisioned for their Canadian friends and family. I enjoyed receiving two invitations to celebrate their love.

I haven't gotten any particularly memorable wedding invitations, but our friends Nick and Amy's save the date card was really beautiful -- just a simple photo of them on a postcard, but really well designed and touching.

  83. Marianne says:

Here's the thing: I've really never received a memorable invitation! I can only think of one that stands out, but that was mainly because of the color scheme (teal and red; it was nice!). The invitation itself was pretty plain. So therefore, I'm going over the top for my own. Mailed in boxes, fabrics, ribbons, charms... the whole works! I haven't finalized the design yet, but I want it to be the most distinctive invitation my guests have ever received. I've actually admired Red Bliss' work for some time now, and they are a major source of inspiration for my own invitations.

    What a gorgeous book!

This might sound weird, but I have to say the most memorable one that I have seen is the set that I am working on right now...mine! I am handpainting cherry blossoms (but in rich reds) on soft white Paper Source paper with acrylic paints, so they are very tactile. The daunting thing is that I will be doing 300 wedding invitations for our Hindu ceremony...good thing I have 1.5 years to go!

Wow, what a beautiful book and wonderful giveaway! I would definitely say that the most memorably invitation I ever received was for a post-wedding party (following a small, courthouse affair) - the bride drew up a lovely, intricate sketch capturing the couple's personalities, and then they had it printed on a small scale for their invitations. It was so lovely, unique, and personal - definitely a keepsake!

    Lovely Photograph!

The most memorable invitation I have ever received is a vintage hankerchief with the details of an afternoon tea party themed bridal shower screen printed on. It was very cute and set the mood for a wonderful party!

The most memorable invitation I've ever received was my best friend's wedding invitation. She designed and hand made each one of them. It had a gold pocket-fold envelope with kelly green ribbon across the cover. She customized the invitation so that names of her guests were on the invitation. It was so beautiful and I couldn't believe that she actually made them herself! I kept it for years and now it's my inspiration for my own wedding invitation!

  88. Mollie Muse says:

The most memorable invitatin I've seen was actually not for a wedding. A friend of mine who was a year ahead of me in design school did the invitations for her graduating class's portfolio day. It was based around the concept of the "future of advertising/design" and she did an illustration in the style of a palmistry reading guide, but made it about design students. It was very clever.

  89. Marilyn says:

The most memorable invitation I have received was actually in "Save the Date" form. The bride is my closet girlfriend from college and I could tell she took a tremendous amount of effort to scheme up the invite. She used a 4x5 clear plastic card approximately 3 cm thick; on the plastic engraved was all the pertinent Save the Date details. The etching on the plastic made the invite similar to etching on glass. The bride even had a ribbon tied into the plastic which made the invitation feel like a window into the wedding. The invitation by itself was gorgeous and the bride even had it wrapped up in a gorgeous pink box with a silver label and ribbon fastening the box together. Absolutely breathtaking. I have it hanging up by the ribbon. It is just so stunning! Needless to mention I'm also extremely excited for her wedding!!

To date, I dont have a most memorable invitation card. I live in Singapore where the majority of the soon to be wedded lot chose hotels as their choice for the dinner banquet. As the hotels provide free invitation cards as part of the 'wedding package', wedding invitations that come my way are, while aesthetically pleasing, are merely mediocre and nothing to shout about. As such, I am quite determined to do something 'out of the box', something with more 'character' and something that would hopefully inspire my guests to keep the invite. Thus, though my wedding is on 23 Jan 2011, I have been scouring around and about... using blogs and websites as inspiration so as to make my wedding invites a memorable one. I would love to win this because I think that it would give me a whole myraid of ideas to work with and add on to my book of ideas.

    Merry Xmas!

Summer camp, 1994. An invitation to the 'camp banquet' from the boy I was crushing on. He asked me to meet him behind the canoe, and then gave me a piece of paper with the words, "will you be my date to the camp banquet?" written on it. He then proceeded to run away.

He wouldn't even hold my hand at the banquet. What a lame date!
