Before we dive into all of the wedding goodness that we have planned for you today, I wanted to take a quick moment to thank everyone at NEAWP…the Austin wedding organization that hosted me for yesterday’s conference. I had a great time and hope that you guys took some inspiration away from our session!
Okay! On to our first featured wedding. It’s been a while since we featured a Justine Ungaro wedding, so I am thrilled to have her back on Style Me Pretty. You may remember her own gorgeous video that we featured a while back, filled with a sense of style and design that translates so beautifully into her photography. This wedding is actually the celebration of one of the guys from Monachetti , Andrew, who shot Justine’s ridiculously amazing video. His adorable bride, Emily, is a hair stylist…so you know that there was creativity and style tucked in every corner.

From Justine…
The wedding venue was the home of an old family friend of the bride’s…a perfect backdrop for the couple’s DIY affair. Emily and her maids were all decked out in etsy designer Sarah Seven’s gorgeous wares and the bride wore a veil by EM Bridal. They used lots of mason jars filled with flowers or lights and placemats and little swatches of fabrics in interesting ways. They even had friends hang a homemade installation constructed from cardboard over the “altar” that read “LOVE NEVER FAILS”….it was all ridiculously sweet and one of my favorite weddings I’ve probably ever photographed.

I love, love, love (maybe more than any detail I’ve ever loved) the sign above the “altar.” It just might be the coolest thing I have ever seen, adding a sense of whimsy and personality to the ceremony. I am now 100% convinced that every bride should put a cute sign right up at the altar with them. Obsessed.

Justine is a regular on a lot of the wedding blogs so when I get a chance to feature her work on SMP, I am always really excited. Plus, she writes a pretty killer wedding blog herself, so she know what types of weddings we can easily fall in love with. And this wedding is just as delicious as I had hoped it would be! Filled to the brim with sweet, perfect little touches that let guests know they were attending something really special.
More to come in just a bit!
Love it all, but am in love with the bridal gown
Thanks for the Monachetti credit Abby! :-)
ABSOLUTELY adore the vintage style floral fabric wrapped around the brides bouquet. I've never seen that before and I just think it's perfection!
THAT WEDDING DRESS IS STUNNING!!!!!
WOW! That sign at the ceremony is SO. COOL. And you're right, it does remind me of Cheree Berry's wedding.
Just love the color for this wedding. And the bride and groom looks so in love. Congratulation on the wedding...
Abby- do you know the source of the DIY favour box, with the ornamental type of graphic on the box, the one with the ivory ribbon? This is what I'm looking for and I would love to know the source to inquire! Please help!
Such a charming wedding! I too, love the fabric swatches!
That sign is A-MAZING! I actually thought it was done in post it's so well done. HA! So cool! I shared a wedding where the bride and groom had their initials created and displayed them outside of their venue. You can see the pic here: http://www.twigandthistle.com/blog/2009/06/kyong-donald’s-wedding-part-ii/
To the bride--Your dress is absolutely beautiful. I really want to use Sarah Seven for my bridesmaid dresses. But some of the reviews on etsy say that the quality of the dresses is not good (stuff like exposed zippers). If you could provide feedback on your experience, I would really appreciate it! Some of my bridesmaids are busty... so did your girls feel comfortable in them?
This wedding is so gorgeous!! I'm loving the style, color, and fit of the suits! Could you post the designer of the suits? I've been on the search for one just like those!
this is like a small flash to the future on how we are planning our wedding to look and feel like. thank you so much for posting this. it helps so much to visualize the details.
Does anyone happen to know where the suit is from... my beyonce is looking for something identical to that one.
Thanks!
Where did you find the boutonnieres?love them... i am doing a dress with a floral sash and these would be great to coordinate.
a dream come true!
I'd love to see more resource information on the vendors: Who did the amazing boutonniers and the beautiful bridal bouquet especially! And is the ceremony at a friend's house, too? What part of the country is this? Looks like a courthouse or historic building...
I love all the old vintage bottles - they make the tables so charming!
I recognize her dress as being Sarah Seven's on etsy.com
She makes gorgeous dresses; however, for any brides-to-be out there, you will be waiting a LONG time to even get an email reply from Sarah Seven as it seems she is extremely busy! Believe me, I tried!
I want to know the suit designer too - love the patterning in the gray - exactly what I am looking for!
Hello! I'm the bride of this wedding and I wanted to answer a few questions...
Jessica - Thanks! One of my bridesmaids, Shannon, wrapped fabric around flowers at her wedding and I loved it so much I had to steal the idea. My florist just used the extra strips of fabric, wrapped until it looked right and pinned it. Cheap and easy.
Tiffany - the "favour boxes" you are referring to are actually wrapped presents for my girls. Vintage jewlery made by La Boîte à Bijoux (http://www.etsy.com/profile.php?user_id=5683716 ). You can contact Sandrine on etsy and ask her where she got them. Also, check out her beautiful vintage jewelry!
Kathleen - "Love Never Fails" was done by one of my favorite artists and my good friend Casey Johnson. He also made adorable wooden sailboats for the pool the reception took place around. Anyone can contact him at casey@onesmallinstrument.com He is AMAZING and can be contacted for almost any installation piece big or small. You can see some of his work that he does with wood here: virb.com/caseyreed. He is currently the display coordinator at Anthropologie in Annapolis, MD.
Amanda - Sarah Seven is wonderful artist and a wonderful person. There are exposed zippers and unfinished edges. I think there is some confusion regarding this, because it is on purpose. She has a very raw, unfinished look but yet you've never felt so whimsical and beautiful. She understands the female body and I feel, knows what looks great on it. I was a little scared because I am pretty curvy and so were many of my bridesmaids but everything fit perfectly and I didn't feel completely exposed on top. She had a very daunting task to make my dress and 6 bridesmaids. She is very busy so I would recommend giving her PLENTY of time to get them done.
Dana - The men's suits are actually from H&M's black label that you can find only at some H&Ms. Most of our boys got them in DC and a couple came from the NYC store. We spent a lot of time looking for the right suit and we found some at Banana Republic for a decent price but Andrew ended up liking the color of this one better and it was way cheaper. I feel like they were around $250, for the the suit, tie, belt, shirt and shoes, somewhere around $350. Andrew did not want to rent a tux so the price point was important, we didn't want the guys to go completely broke. We had many shapes and sizes so it was great to be able to alter each suit so everyone looked sharp, not weird and frumpy, like most rentals. The guy's shoes are from Urban Outfitters.
Kelly - My best friend and maid of honor made the boutonnieres, as well as the flowers for the girl's hair. She also did the art direction of the rooms we got ready in, as well as helping me with almost everything else. Her name is Roni, she is not internet savy enough to have an etsy site, but you can contact her at roniannbrewster@gmail.com. She makes tons of stuff like this and sells them at boutiques as well as custom orders.
Ali - We're from Maryland and the wedding is at a private residence in Woodbine, MD. It is an old governor's mansion built in 1766. It's actually my Dad's cousin's house so unfortunately it is not available to rent...yet. However, there are many other wonderful places to get married in MD that are similar in their feeling. A woman named Sharon Davis did our flowers. By the time I was supposed to pick out flowers I was so overwhelmed with the rest of my DIY wedding that I told her the "feeling" that I wanted and told her to show up with some flowers. I've been to many weddings that she had done so I trusted her completely. She did a lovely job. She also made our wreath and necklace of flowers for my dog, Olivia! I'll have to get in touch with her for her contact info. Unfortunately, she doesn't have a website, I think she mainly works from word of mouth and it works out well for her because she always seems to have jobs.
Faro - Thanks! We spent months finding jars at thift stores and on freecycle. My parent's house was overtaken by boxes and boxes. We found some fabric that fit the "mood" and my mom and a friend sewed them into squares. The table numbers were made from wooden flags I bought at Michael's. I painted them white, glued fabric to them and then glued wooden numbers to that. One of my bridesmaids, Shannon Reed, offered her wonderful penmanship and wrote out every guest (all 200) on cut out tags...twice! The day of the wedding we threw it all together, Sharon added some flowers here and there and it worked out beautifully!
I also want to note that my hair and makeup was done by Ashley Geesaman. She works at Immortal Beloved in Washington DC. She also did my color. If you live in MD/DC area you should book with her and/or my good friend Mimi Lockard who cuts my hair. www.immortalbeloveddc.com
Thanks for ALL the details Emily. What a gorgeous, heartfelt wedding. Bravo!!
Emily I'm glad you mentioned that you are curvey and that the dress made you feel feminine and beautiful. From one curvey woman to another I think it takes real vision to create something for a woman with a little T&A. Glad to hear you were so happy with Sara, as I have been considering using her myself.
Congrats!
Emily thank you so much for taking the time to answer our questions! You were a gorgeous bride! Congrats on your wedding! All the best!
Emily!! Such a stunning wedding! What a gorgeous couple. Every little detail makes me smile! You are a beautiful bride. Congratulations!!
Thank you so much for the detailed suit (and other) information! :) Again, simply breathtaking. Congratulations!
i love the vintage theme here...I'd love to do this in my wedding!
That sign is complete insanity it's so awesome!!! I don't even know what to say...I love it.
My groom will be wearing the exact same suit! We got it in Toronto. It was $250 Canadian. He fell in love with it and said it made him feel like he was in Mad Men; I just knew he had to get it when I saw his face as he tried it on. Great to see how nice it looks in pictures! Beautiful wedding, Emily.
"Love Never Fails" It's the most romantic sign at the most appropriate place. Right down to the heart of the matter. This is the reason why God made weddings! Congratulations!!!!
