Thank you all for such wonderful comments. For Alex, I finished a masters only program in policy and urban planning, so it was much less intense then a PhD program. I have had several friends recently finish a PhD and can sympathize with how long your in for so I guess it depends on how far you are into your dissertation. I did all of the early planning (space, caterer, music, planner, florist, baker) before I began writing my thesis and then the details came after I graduated. I was completely checked out of wedding during the last semester of my program. That being said, I had two friends who had beautiful weddings that they had to finalize DURING our thesis year. It all depends on how much you want to take on and how high a stress level you can withstand. Get a planner if you can. It was amazing how helpful they were in keeping things in order and reducing my stress. Hope that helps!

Jamie, are you doing a PhD program or were you done with school when you finished your masters? Totally unrelated to the style of the wedding (which I adore) but I’m working on a PhD now and my fiance and I are trying to figure out what the best time for our wedding would be school-wise. Anyway, congrats on a beautiful wedding and completing your masters!

the color palette is just beautiful! and the details, like the parasols, the favors and the “I Spy” game – and even the color of the chalk on the chalkboard! – are just perfect! the photographer did a great job in capturing the essence of the wedding, too. i love this rustic theme! very inspiring! thanks so much for sharing!

Where can I find the template for the I Spy activity list??? I saw it in a magazine and fell in love. I’ve been planning to use it, but don’t want to reinvent the wheel.
